Know a lot of people were more into Regis Philbin (Millionaire) and Anne Robinson (Weakest Link), but enjoyed this Fox/Dick Clark attempt, and host Chuck Woolery's steadfast delivery. Even with Woolery almost out of sight currently for his support of Trump, the man knew and still knows how to host. I wish Fox had managed better luck with this. Thanks for the peek into the vault, Wink!

The music and design is good, my issue is the questions here are kind of dull pop culture factoids compared to WWTBAM, and just like with the Weakest link and The chase, putting you on teams with strangers just screws goid contestants over often to the show's benefit. I feel like WWTBAM had more contestants that believed in their own knowledge who wouldn't have put up with the team of strangers stuff and that's why I think WWTBAM had better smarter personalities. Greed has more typical TV personalities, WWTBAM had actual bright minds, even if it had more of the fake tension of DOND compared to something purer and drier in presentation for trivia like Jeopardy.

Greed beats Who Wants to be a Millionaire by thousands -- if not millions -- of miles. Greed is more intense and cutthroat than WWTBAM. The only reason Greed didn't last anywhere as long is because a president at Fox who didn't like game shows had it canned.

  • @occono3543

Not everyone wants "cutthroat" game shows. This show puts you with random strangers who can screw you over. You might find that more entertaining but many of us like seeing people showing what they can deduce and winning big on millionaire without being screwed over by some random they were teamed up with. The questions here were also duller, pop culture factoids instead of the breadth of WWTBAM. Which show would you rather GO on, this or Regis WWTBAM? If the latter but you enjoy the former, you don't care about the contestants or their actual skill and what the money means to them, just whatever might happen to them with no consolation prizes and just HIGH STAKES CUTTHROAT INTENSITY. Some of us prefer the fairness of WWTBAM. I liked seeing meek people win big and if they're stumped they get to win 16k or so instead of nothing because of some stupid idiot the show paired them with. I didn't like The Weakest Link for the same reason. You can have your own tastes, but I'm annoyed at the constant idea from Greed fans that the WWTBAM audience "would just dump that boring show if they knew Greed was on". We liked the fairness of Millionaire. We didn't WANT "cutthroat" bullshit.

As someone who was actually IN this episode (I'm Tony), yeah, I was worried when he said ground beef. But I think since he was from Ohio, Brooks may have been from an area where more people order ground beef on their pizzas than, say, on the West Coast where I'm from, and let's face it, there are way more people in CA than in other states. Also, I think that the way the question was phrased was a little confusing, though I would have personally answered mushrooms anyway because that's a very popular topping. If more people order mushrooms, more pounds of mushrooms are going to be sold than ground beef. Brooks was a good captain though, as he changed an early answer that would have eliminated us much earlier than what you see here. To come so close to winning 200K of a 500K pot at age 22 would've been great, but it was not to be!

For people that don't know about the episode before this one, Howie was not the captain to start the game and his answer to the $200,000 question was butter pecan. Also strawberry was guessed second after old fashioned maple. And also the episode after this one that last team on this doesn't even go for $200,000 and also there was only one Terminator round in the episode after this one because there were 2 teams after this last one that failed to get $100,000 then the 3rd team made the $200,000 level but failed to get it right then was the team before the do over of the .com team who made it to the $100,000 level only to flop on SNL regulars in the $200,000 question which was 2 episodes after this one.

On the episode before this one, that team's original captain was Bryan Pena, whose first appearance was in the 2-hour premiere, during which he was eliminated from Sandy Dicey's team after finishing last on the Qualifying Question round. In the episode that follows, Carra cowardly bailed after $100,000 to the rest of her team's dismay but i guess that's better than losing at the Terminator as the person being challenged since everybody took home $20k a piece, a little less in taxes. Later in that episode, you're right only one team in that episode made it to $200,000 but you're kind of right that they lost. That team's captain actually took a $20,000 bribe on that question about dog breeds which ended up being a good decision as it was wrong and they would've gone home with empty pockets if he didn't take the $20k. The ".com" team ended up winning a Terminator-less $200k and before that the team with Joe Price went belly-up with 2-answer miss on that SNL regulars question.
