How can you say that he kills it? His performance is brilliant and he is an excellent entertainer. I worked in the music industry in the 60's, 70's and 80's when pop music was at its best. In those days we used English somewhat more precisely than today, when we said it how it was - for example WICKED meant EVIL (not good or cool). If a performer rendered a bad version of a song, the songwriter would complain that he/she had KILLED THE SONG. If an artist was doing a bad job in the recording studio, the producer would accuse him/her of KILLING THE SONG and make the artiste do re-take after re-take until the artiste had put life back into the song. I appreciate that you really mean that Tico is so good that he brings a song to life. So why not simply say what you mean instead of the opposite of what you mean, so that even those whose first language is not English can support your comments?

Actually what you're noticing is awareness and just how self-conscious your average human being is and just how freeing it can be to be less intelligent. Like the saying goes, "ignorance is bliss". With all sincerity, most human beings are capable of singing just beautifully and in key. They're just so darn self-conscious and scared of what they're doing that they screw it up.
