suikoden V is really a swan song for suikoden series... what making me tear a bit is suikoden theme "into to the illusion world" in these incarnation have a melancholy tinges likes saying goodbye for this series

Sialeeds doesn't really betray the pc. She joins Godwin's band of losers so she can murder as many nobles as possible and end the authority of the senate of nobles. She knows she's going to die but that none of the blame for her crimes will be placed on the prince and princess because everyone will think she was a traitor. Also I think everyone was confused by the ending and how weird it was seeing these weird unlikable psychopaths act like their your best friends.

To me, Suikoden 5 is one of my top PS2 era JRPGs. And mainly because of the story and characters. At first, I was put off by the Prince's character design, I thought he was too outlandish. But it grew on me. Having gotten past that, the characters in this game are just so damn good. The Queen's Knights are easily some of the best side characters. Georg, Kyle, Galleon, Miakis and Lyon exemplify the ideals of loyalty in so many different ways. As Ferid said in the beginning, true loyalty is being able to question your peers and not follow them blindly. This is something I carried in my own personal life for years. On a side note: I keep a fresh untouchede save at around lv18 ish so I can always begin at the good part lol

I really hope that someday, we'll get a Suikoden VI cause.....damn, it's been almost 20 years since Suikoden V.

This is one of my fave JRPG ever. The story is sooo good. It's actually one of the RPG that made me an RPG fan. I was soooo impressed by its storytelling.

I've been singing this game's praises since it came out. (I bought it day one - even after Suikoden 4). I even imported this soundtrack after I heard it. On the one hand, it's great the series went out on a high but it kills me we're not getting anything else - especially after the passing of Murayama.

Great video, I'm catching up on your older content now and am disappointed to see that this was your last Suikoden video. I see you cover quite a bit of strategy games, did you ever play Suikoden Tactics? That game is extremely underrated imo

Great review. I still think you should give Suikoden Tactics a go if you get the chance, it does really fill in 4 as a companion game. The DS one I'd not even really consider Suikoden due to it not even being set in the same world.

I was told part of the reason thus game didn't sell well was its release being so close to the end of the PS2 life cycle. More people were looking forward to the new PS3 games.

I wasn’t able to finish this in my ps2 era but I loved it. Despite not being the best star Josephine is my favorite character.

That map at 2:27 isn't accurate. Falena and the Island Nations are due south of the Northern Continent, not that far Southwest. Otherwise, your review was very good! I enjoyed it! Might replay the game again now.

if suikoden 5 did not have so many tech and paceing issues i might have loved it as mch as the first 3.

So about saileeds there are hints about her being upset with her lot in life. If you talk to her while she's in her room or before the coup when you're meeting the grooms.

The Prince of Falena was quite an interesting Protagonist, but my personal star of the Story is Georg Prime. This guy is just a beast among beasts! :)

for me, i only started to enjoy this game after new game+.

Only part I disagree a bit is with the war battles. Despite their length I found them the best, and my favorite all 5 suikodens.

Now playing eiyuden chronicle and seeing the war battle on that game I miss suikoden 5 war battle definitely the best on the series. 🤔

This game is soooooo good!!! I tell people, it starts slow, but it is literally “Game of Thrones: The JRPG”! You have two families maneuvering for control of the country (like the Starks & Lannisters) and this eventually leads to civil war. Such a great story and characters! I love “Suikoden II”, but I’d put “Suikoden V” as tied for first place with it! However, the game has some pretty crappy load times. Hoping I can do something about that in emulation.

Ahh Suikoden. An RPG that is about politics and war and not about saving the world like 99% of JRPGs out there. Suikoden 5 has rich storyline, engaging dialogue and it has the one thing Suikoden 2 lacks, game length. It's a shame Konami is letting this franchise (among other great titles) collect dust and is focusing on Pachinko instead. On a side note, I remember just about all of your recruits in this installment fight really well. Even that farmer guy hits like a truck.

3 I played some got bored stopped playing for weeks(maybe months) then thought OMG I need to finish this. I finished it ASAP. I enjoyed 4 but I thought 5 was awesome. BTW you sounded sexist reviewing this. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is so cringy, I'm sure you will love it.

It's crazy how Capcom wasn't ported 4 and 5 to current and next gen consoles or even PC. It's like an idiot owning a gold mine and thinking it's a normal cave

Let's all pray they can conjure some Suikoden vibes with Hundred Heroes because the chance of getting a Suikoden 6 are pretty slim.

I rank the games 2, 1, 5, 4 and then 3. The thing that I remember truly disliking about 5 is the horrendously slow start. Apart from that, it was a great game. If not for the slow start I'd probably swap 1 and 5.

That game was total trash. I tried again last week 2023. It was so boring and slow, the graohics were horrible. Part 4 was pretty nice looking and 3D view. Music was better to on 4. V was just bad from the art and pace.

Damn, that's quite an opinion. I liked Suikoden 4, but the aesthetic was so dull and boring. It did not compliment Suikoden's style at all. Suikoden 5, while having a veeeery slow start, is more true to Suikoden form. Almost like a Suikoden 1.5. The story and visuals are more enjoyable than Suikoden 4's confusing semi-realism style.
