@Siddharth Sriram @Siddharth Sriram Dairy in India is not an industry. Dairy in India is a cooperative. A one of a kind business model in the world. Individual/Group of cows are raised and cared for by individual farmers. Intervention is on the produce, not the producer. There's no question of animal torture here. You must address your question to your Western bosses whose method you fantasize. Regarding Green Revolution: Sadhguru is not the kind of illogical person. He's very pragmatic. I don't know your association with farmers, but he is VERY INTENSIVELY active with 'REAL, RURAL' farmers. His knowledge is not from the internet or textbook. Multiple times he had said that GR was needed at those times when we had a 'food' scarcity. When India was depending on PL480 to feed is population. When water and soil was in abundance. In today's India, there's a 'nutritional' scarcity as opposed to food scarcity. FCI has more than 2 times the necessary stock. Yet, we're only trying to manage this (and not address) with food fortification. Time has come to abandon Green Revolution and move into Evergreen Revolution. Water and Soil at alarmingly bad levels. Regarding agricultural productivity: Indian agriculture is neither Industrial as in the West, nor Primitive Subsistence as it was historically. It is on the model of Intensive Subsistence. 65% of population is involved in agriculture. You are vague when you say productivity. Do you refer to the yield/ha or labour productivity. If it's the former, it's because of GR once again. If you mean the latter, where will you accomodate the rest of the population? There's no alternative industry/sector that can accommodate such huge population. Regarding Culture: Culture is a combination of physical + non-physical aspects of way of life. It has nothing to do with having a strong army or cavalry. The more refined a culture becomes, it gives more importance to humanistic attributes viz., Art, Dance, Music, Spiritual etc. An example would be the Renaissance Movement in Europe. Today's South America speaks Spanish, Iran was Islamicised in a few decades, same with Indonesia and so on. The native Americans and Australian Aboriginals are vanquished. India, despite over 800 years under foreign rulers have sustained its cultural ethos. There can be no better example than this to explain the strength of India's culture which Sadhguru has rightly pointed.

Just because it is legal to keep sentient beings in captivity, and inflict pain and suffering upon them, doesn't mean it's right. Whatever you want to do with your life and your body is your choice, but if your life 'choices' involve inflicting suffering on another being, it's not your choice to make anymore.

strethy some people like him think they are being secular when they pose such questions. But, they are not thinking of the welfare of the animals around us. Just like Shashi Tharoor when he said on Bakrid, only lambs are slaughtered, no other animals suffer, but on Diwali, firecrackers affect everyone. These so called seculars don't question the intention behind the forced conversions to Christianity in this Country. How is Conversion legal, by the way? Anything started by Hindus only will be questioned in this Country and tagged as religious. This has to be eradicated, completely.

SADANAND YOU NEED AN EDUCATION YOU FOOL,WHAT ECONOMY HAD INDIA BEFORE THE BRITISH,THERE WASN'T A COUNTRY CALLED INDIA BEFORE BRITISH,EVEN THE NAME INDIA IS NOT AN INDIAN NAME ,INDIA IS WHAT FOREIGNERS CALLED THE GEOGRAPHICAL REGION WHICH WE KNOW TODAY AS INDIA .IN THE MIDDLE AGES YOU WERE RULED BY TURCO-MONGOL RULES FROM CENTRAL ASIA FROM WHAT IS TODAY UZBEKISTAN-THE DYNASTIES OF THE GREAT MOGHULS. EVEN THEM DIDN'T CONQUER THE ENTIRE SUBCONTINENT.SO, WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT INDIAN ECONOMY 300 YEARS AGO YOU TALK AS IF INDIA WAS THE COUNTRY YOU HAVE TODAY FROM HIMALAYAS TO TAMIL NADU .PLEASE DO NOT PUT TO MUCH STOCK IN THE BOOKS OF SHASHI THAROOR,HE JUST A PROPAGANDA POSTER BOY FOR HINDU NATIONALISM.HE IS TALKING ABOUT HOW AWFUL BRITISH WERE ,WHAT INDIAN GOVERNMENT HAS LEARN FROM THAT,NOTHING.LOOK HOW THEY TREAT THE PEOPLE OF KASHMIR,WITH AN IRON FIST.THE MODERNIZATION OF INDIA IS BASED ON WESTERN TECHNOLOGY FROM SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS TO COMPUTERS TO NUCLEAR POWER ARE COMING FROM THE WEST,SO STOP BLAMING THE BRITISH OR THE WEST FOR YOUR PROBLEMS.YOU HAVE TAKEN YOUR INDEPENDENCE AFTER THE SECOND WORD WAR.WITH POPULATION,CULTURE AND HISTORICAL TRADITIONS AND WITH SO MANY GURUS YOU SHOULD HAVE SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS,BUT DID YOU ? I THINK NOT.SO WHAT IS THE EASIEST WAY ,TO BLAME OTHERS FOR THE PROBLEMS YOU HAVE CREATED YOURSELVES AND TO LOOK FOR GUIDANCE TO SMOKE SELLERS LIKE MADHGURU AND OTHERS.

My Deepest heartfelt respects to you for your clarity of thought on our cultural heritage and the way our ancient sages have nurtured our peaceful living in INDIA for thousands of years. The revolutionary idea OR vision of self realization and thus focus on building individual rather than society is the right approach. This System thinking or a synthetic way of thinking to be adopted in every walk of our living and build our future generations. thanks for uploading such wonderful , bold and open debates through which the seeker gets his clarity on various issues.

One story from someone that worked at those huge slaughterhouse stayed in my memory, the guy told me that he actually can see the cows cry when they are there waiting to be electrocuted. Since about 10 or 15 years I minimised eating animals. I ate once or twice a week usually chicken I was lucky to live in a country where meat tastes horribly(Netherlands), so quiting eating eat was very easy. I kept eating meat just to be on save side in case it is healty. Sometimes I went for monts without eating animals but I often got back to eating them when I was feeling weak or was getting sick. Now I think, I finally have a good diet and feel stronger then ever. I stopped eating animals mostly because of the shoking way they are beeing kept, it is so brutal and heartless, but so is killing them. I do not want to be part of that chain any longer

Its the cows blood thats becoming milk. Eat beef and drinking cow milk is no different. What we need is a concious consumption of everything a person wants to consume. Instead forming rules that this is ok and that is not ok.

When he says 542 people (elected representatives of people in a parliamentary democracy like ours) is NOT India, there's something seriously wrong with our constitution/democracy. Perhaps, if he is really concerned about Bharat, the way he perceives and if he is so confident of himself, let him go and sermonize only those 542 people and influence them for better instead of wasting time on the rest of 1.3bn Indians. It would have been a far better service in the long run.

Also, both of them being affluent philosophers and curious in their own ways, have all the right to debate/discuss with each other in a constructive and respectful manner. While I really like Sadguru's rational approach to everything, Suhel's questions were indeed those felt by people who genuinely put their head over these matters.

Kudos suhail Seth!atlast t this "guru" finds some one whose eyes are open and able to see the entire world unlike those blind bhakta who have long forgotten to question gurus but blindly follow into the ditch! These gurus collect donations make lavish ashrams and indulge in high flying and talking of utopia

Before you try to talk to the great man, learn to sit in a decent manner.is it way you sit before your parents, elders, gurus.if you have inherited cultured aspect from your forefathers, you wouldn't have been in very confused state right from the point of sitting properly before learned person like great sadguru.just consider the way how humble is he in presenting his point of view rather than behaving as if I know everything.the irritating part of your discussion starts from your way of sitting and then the way of your talking.so correct yourself these then go for discussing the cultural aspect

Sadhguru seems so intelligent and genuine until he starts speaking about hinduism, it's traditions and history!! A guru who constantly speaks about transcending this physical nature but goes right back to talking about and justifying illogical religious traditions, makes no sense. And, all the people who claim Sadhguru as their guru, but cannot even control their anger over someone's sitting posture, please stop calling him your guru because you have learnt nothing from his teachings.

Dear Sadguru, there is anohter view about it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hnV82sNwlaq1hbQ.html drinking milk meant for calves is going to create good relationship, [however, even dogs makes great relationship with its owners] but consuming meat wont creat the same relationship ok. When a farmer buys a cow and takes care of it by spending money and at the end of day he is the one suppose to decide what to do with the cow not the air condition swamis and babas. if these babas have such concern they should buy such cows from farmers paying reasonable price. even then also problem these babas will take the money from govt that is our tax money for this purpose. people gonna be victim either way. Suhel seth is such thinker can take on Rajiv malhotra but here he is sitting n taking answers like prasadam, why such circus required.
