Dissolving your personality

In Dissolving Your Personality, Sadhguru suggests that we not merely dissolve habitual ways of seeing, but equally habitual ways of being. He suggests, in short, that we dissolve ourselves (or what we think of as ourselves) - the knotted, self-limiting bundle of preferences and opinions that we term our ‘personalities’. But this dissolution is not a rejection of life; simply a joyful retrieval of what really counts. And does that loss of personality condemn us to a cheerless insipidity? Far from it. Instead, we are now empowered to adopt as many personalities as we want. But there is a difference. This time around, our personalities no longer cling to us; we can don and discard them at will. For they have been created in full awareness, not in some dank unexamined crevice of our consciousness.

Taking this and apply it to Facebook. On Facebook you solidify and are concreting the caricature we call a personality. After that, we get sucked up in likes and dislikes. It makes the caricature even more ridged then before.

Yes, very nice example. Ive found many congruences like that between what we do in our social contexts, what we do in our social media, and what we do in our minds. All of this situations (for me at least) feel like relationships i have with a group of people, and sometimes a public, like im been watched. With all of this in our conscious and (even more) in our inconscious mind, how can we think that we are free if we have a personality? Also about the social media thing, is like we extended one "bad habit", been the political part of the social interactions, the rigid personality, the blockage that takes out all of our energy, and put it on a new Large habit that we (most of us) know as using the computer (big part of the day, for me at least), or smartphones...

I had a similar experience to the story of the hr manager. when I was joining the navy I spoke to several recruiters that showed me pictures of the different places I might visit, the steel beach picnics they would have on the boat, and the different parties and celebrations that take place during your time of service... seemed like heaven but what they failed to mention was the hell that you would go through just to get those few hours of heaven. my heaven would have been staying at home and going to college, however the level of knowledge I would have gained would not have compared. my hell taught me a lot, and im still learning, even now im learning how to use my eyes and mind again. I learned more crossing hell than I would've relaxing in heaven.

How can you know what you would have learned? Don't you decide what amount of thought you put into any situation? Do you learn more from doing something pleasurable than doing something displeasurable? When i have been in externally pleasurable and comfortable situations and have remained relaxed and lazy I have felt very unfulfilled, bored and longing internally. I am a farmer and i have worked in physically displeasurable situations and pleasurable situations and learned much from both. Knowledge is knowledge no matter how you gain it. It is easy to feel uncomfortable in physically displeasurable situations, but the nature of your thoughts, feelings and attitudes are not dependent on the external or physical reality. They are dependent only on your internal responses whether they be conscious or unconscious. You can only work with what is presented to you as you intend to respond, or as you are programmed to react.

@@purplehazee13 the early problem people face is that..They want to remember that they are breathing..No not this way. Pay attention..Even a single breath shouldn't go unobserve. Be every breath

Inhale while exhaling? Is that even physically possible for breath to go out of lungs and into the lungs simultaneously?

Thank You for clipping this together! As I’m traveling I like to give myself content to comfort me. Today happens to be the day I watched this clip of Sadhguru, I have to say it confirmed a lot of what is perceived in my experience of observing the ideas I have of my self. Thank You!

Hello, Are you African?? Btw Namaste 🙏 from India🇮🇳 Africa was also a great spiritual hub of Ancient times but it was ruined coz of Roman and Greek invasions..so much was lost and texts burned.. I think before Abrahmic religion, there was sprituality all over which they call as PAGANS.. Absolutely ridiculous..
