Omg the Scordisci tribe - they literally lived in the area of my hometown in Serbia..few years ago, my town built small settlement which replicas celtic village, so people can learn something about the Scordisci and their history.

Just because its in serbia doesnt mean its serbian, they were celtic not slavic/steppe like serbs. The serbs migrated in the balkans with croats in the 7th century

So I (Scordisci) sent the video, the battle replay was right until the Parthian general's charge. We charged the seleucid's gen out of desperation but the units I had left had scare effect. When the parthian cataphracts charged in the Seleucids general broke together with the parthian one. But the scare effect was also affecting the seleucids units who suddenly broke, giving us a victory but most importantly an extremely fun battle. Reason for the replay to be broken is either the small Rome II update or Larger Battlefield mod missing in the load order (larger battlefield is mandatory for dei since the units are massive lol)

We have one rule. Actually DEI is pretty well balanced and the pikes are super expensive and they need a ton of micro, positioning is a nightmare and there's also game mechanics messing up the formations and so on. Literally the only rule we use is no dogs, cause dogs can be let loose and kill 800-900 or even charged to the general, go through the army and kill the gen.

The battle which Apollo was talking about took place in my native mother land called Punjab the battle took place between Alexander the great vs King Porus even though King Porus got defeated but still he inflicted such huge losses to Alexander army it was a costly victory

16:43 I think the main issue with introducing something like pike-waving is that, from a gameplay standpoint, it would strengthen pikes against one of their main counters, concentrated ranged attacks. I love the idea of it as a historical reference, but I think even a more grounded, "realistic" mod like DEI has to make some compromises for the sake of balance and fun. There are also game engine limitations (I assume) preventing them from implementing penalties for (or outright stopping) tight formations of hoplites/pikes stacking on top of each other, or losing cohesion due to complicated maneuvers and rough terrain (something the Romans exploited to break up Macedonian phalanxes). So as much as I'd love to see those things modeled in a game, I'm not sure Rome II is that game, sadly.

Yes, I know what you are saying, and it dose! Pikes are difficalt to maneuver, and the get moral penalities if charged from side of behind, actually every unit dose moral penalties in that situation..

Dont mind the mispronounciation of the crazy weird celtic serbian units (it's part of the charm of the comment), but I still hope sometimes Apollo will decide to pronounce "Hoplite" correctly (hoplee-tay)

I'll guess Scordisci is pronounced "SCORE-di-SIE" (last syllable rhymes with tie). Or in Latin "Score-DEE-Skee"(?).

It's so hard to play rome 2 multiplayer battle without chat (especially with randoms) since you can't communicate with your team.. and they dont notice signs/pings... Can't really find any groups to play with either... 😢

This is Rome 2. Rome 1 is on mobile. I’ve played it on my phone. It’s obviously nothing near pretty like this. It’s like a 2000’s game

@@ForestBlue7 yes. Its basically the same mechanics and what not, the phone game is a port of the first game. The footage in this video is the second game, which came out like 9 years after the first. But the first is still fun as heck. You still have big army’s of individual units in the battles you can control independently. There’s the campaign, all the factions. It’s 10$ on IOS. Idk on android. I think but it’s a full game no micro transactions at all

The shield is strapped around the arm,so the hoplites' hands are free to use their pikes
