I remember when "Everybody Loves Somebody" was released in 1964. It was played on the radio constantly! It was a return to glory for Dean, who hadn't been on the record charts in six years (since 1958 with "Volare").
Dean had such a smooth and effortless delivery. Gorgeous.

Watching his variety show in the 60s, and bit beyond was so enjoyable. I had a dozen of his albums before I bought and Elvis records. I then became an avid Elvis fan. Even Elvis confessed that Dean was the king of cool. Although Dean and Frank were friends, I like Dean's personality and voice much better. Jerry Lewis said Dean was the funnier one. They lasted a decade together as a team. Many were sad to see them breakup. But I was glad that Dean finally had the freedom he so desired. Dean's parents were from Italy. The household spoke only Italian. Dean had plenty of fights in first grade because he didn't know English. Frank, though being of Italian heritage, didn't sing any songs (to my knowledge) with Italian lyrics. Some other crooners of the past aside from Bing himself that I like are : Perry Como, Andy Williams, John Gary, Vic Damone and Pat Boone. I love all of Dean's songs. So I will list just a few that others may not mention : I'm Not The Marrying Kind, If I Could Sing Like Bing, Somewhere There's A Someone, Smile, The Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane, Little Green apples. Regarding the latter, at the conclusion of the song the studio musicians stood up and applauded Dean. Dean said "Who came in? Who came in here?"
Everybody loves somebody is an absolute must 🔥🔥❤️❤️

Dean Martin is one of the greatest , I can listen to the great man all day
“Ain’t That A Kick In the Head” by Dino is one of my personal favorites. Frank Sinatra “ It Was A Very Good Year”, “Softly As I Leave You” and his cover of “ The Girl From Impanema” are beautiful. Also, give “Buona Sera” by Louis Prima. It’s a treat you both will enjoy!!!
You NEED to do Tony Bennett, I left my heart in San Francisco. But, very nice to see Dean back again and singing in the language of love.

Another famous crooner (his nickname was "The Velvet Fog") was Mel Tormé. He did a great cover of "The Christmas Song" and "The Second Time Around"
Dean's voice was pure silk!!
Just a few other Dean Martin Songs: Gentle on my mind I take a lot of pride in what I am My woman my woman my wife Welcome to my world Somewhere there's a someone Everybody loves somebody My heart cries for you Well sing in the sunshine
Dean was then is now one of the coolest cats to ever do it...... you can go down this rabbit hole anytime. Man had a voice and was a above average actor as well as one of the 3 best comedy duo's of all time. He was an amazing fella.
As an Italian American of the northeast, I'm pretty much culturally required to worship at the altar of Francis Albert Sinatra, but Dino has always been my favorite of the crooners….not gonna lie...used to memorize his Italian lyrics phonetically to impress girls (worked more than once). If y'all dig the Italian vibe, you gotta check out Louis Prima!

Deano the king of cool.
The Dean Martin show was the king of variety shows😅 They were all drunk and hilarious❤
Frank and Dean's version of Marshmallow World, that was played live on Dean's variety show, is the one that is often played in shopping malls during Christmas. You can hear them laughing in it as Dean messes up the words, as he usually did on his show because he never rehearsed.

Not to mention that he was also drunk most of the time when on the show. He sobered up later, but at that time in his life he was still drinking... a LOT. They made a lot of jokes about it, and those drinks the girls kept bringing him were very real alcoholic beverages. I'm glad that he found the strength to be able to give it up. It's far, far easier said than done. Most people who have never been addicted to a substance just don't understand how insidious it can be. I know. I am an alcoholic. I just haven't had a drink since February 26, 1996. I still have dreams about it to this day and wake up craving alcohol. I understand that I am long past the physical part, but the mental/emotional part sticks with you
Love Dean Martin

You are going to love the Latin rhythms of SWAY by Dean Martin. Best of all!
Dean is one of the top 5 male vocalists to me of all time, and he and Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett were all Italian. In Dean's case, his parents were from Italy and Dean did not speak English until he went to school at age 5. So, in a sense Italian was his native tongue. Dean and Frank were also great entertainers, with their stand up shows, and their many movies. Dean was a natural, at both singing and entertaining, where he rehearsed very, very little, and in his TV show - never! Great reaction!
His version of On the Street Where You Live is phenomenal. Also there's a scene in Rio Bravo where him, Ricky Nelson, and Walter Brennan do a song called My Rifle, My Pony, and Me. Man it puts a smile on your face.

I'm 25... Frank and Dean are my go-to best singers of ALL TIME. So many songs for you to explore. "Send me your pillow that you dream on", "King of the Road", and "Dream a Little Dream" by Dean are amazing. Frank has "Won't Dance (count basie version)", "Summer Wind", "I Can't Stop Loving You", and "All Or Nothing At All (Sinatra & Strings AND the Strangers in the Night version)"... I love the Sinatra and strings version for the WOW factor ending!
Without a doubt, the best Dean Martin song is (memories are made of this).
I’m sure someone has made this comment before. But Dean was a huge star in the ‘50s. Then the Beatles came out in the early sixties. That was the new thing. His kids said in a polite way that his time had passed. So in his usual cool way, he recorded a song that surpassed the Beatles in 1964 and went on to become number one on the charts.
You really cannot go wrong with Deano, if you want a different Italian vibe check out Louis Prima "I'm Just a Gigolo / I Ain’t Got Nobody", or "Angelina / Zooma Zooma" you will be in for a treat. Try to find the live performances he was a showman. God bless.

Oh no, Dean is my #1 crooner. Dean couldn't speak English till he started school. He grew up hearing Italian, which is why it flows so beautifully in these songs. More Dean please!
Dean Martin is still my favorite singer. "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime" ,"That's Amore", and "Return to Me" are my faves. "Return to me will make you swoon!
Dean's song "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" is a fun one. 😊
I could listen to Dean Martin all day and be happy. I agree with Amber, when Dean sings in Italian it's so romantic!
My dad is a huge fan of Dean. This takes me back in time. I grew up with Dean Martin music in the house.
Jay and Amber, it’s great to see you reacting to Dean Martin. He is the epitome of effortless “old school cool”. Others here have named great Dino songs and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Since you mentioned duets with Bing Crosby, I thought I would suggest Bing and Louis Armstrong doing “Now You Has Jazz”. The blending of their two styles seems like it would be too incongruous, but it is so much fun I think it would leave a smile on your faces for days to come, and it would be something you won’t soon forget. And if you really want to try a modern crooner, I don’t think I’ve seen you react to anything by Michael Bublé. His covers of the standards are amazing. Try “Sway”, “Come Fly With Me”, or “Fever”. I really love your channel. Keep up the great work!

They already did Thats Jazz
It was Amore. (Amor-ay... Italian for love). One of his gimmicks was to appear to be drunk. It made for a loose crooning style, but I suspect he liked to have a few before performing. Appearing as a happy drunk. But there is no doubt he had an amazing voice and it was so soothing. Of course they all smoked like chimneys in those days and it also contributed to his smokey voice.
Italian was his 1st language. He was born here in the united states but only spoke Italian at home till he went to school. His mom and dad both came to the states on a boat from Italy.
I love Dean Martin. He is one of my favorite singers. I love the warmth in his voice, the mellowness, the ease with which he slides from note to note, and the mischievous twinkle in his eye. I can listen to him for hours. There's a story about his daughter, Deana, when she went to Sinatra for advice on her own singing. Here's what she had to say: "He told me it was all about the breath. He said, 'I can tell even before a note comes out if I'm going to be on pitch or not.' I asked him, 'Does my dad do that?' and he said, 'No, your father has no idea what he's doing. He just does it.'" He was just a natural. Of her own father's advice, she said this: "His lessons were, 'Surround yourself with the best musicians... know all the lyrics... be on time... sing from the heart.'"
I could listen to Dean Martin sing the phone book. Sure Frank Sinatra had My Way, one of the best songs of all time, but apart from that give me Dean Martin every day of the week. What I loved about this reaction was how much Amber totally gets Dean Martin, the way she described his singing is how I would describe it. I've seen what other people have suggested, but my two favourite songs by Dean Martin are Gentle on my mind, and Memories are made of this (Studio version) And you guys would love to see the star studded movie The Cannonball Run. Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior are both fantastic in it, along with Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Jackie Chan and a host of others. Put The Cannonball Run on your movies list, you guys will love it.
Thanks, guys. Dean Martin and Tom Jones were my now deceased Mom's favorite singers. Now I'm 67, and I still like them both. Dean Martin's Christmas CD still plays in my home every year. The man exudes sauve and debonair. a cigarette in one hand and a martini in the other. Plus sexuality and humor. Tom Jones was outright sexy, period for that day and age.
The great Dean Martin and that voice. When it comes to the crooner era my favorite of the bunch. Love me some Dean.
Give Tony Bennett's theme song from the movie "The Sandpiper"(otherwise known as "The Shadow of Your Smile") a try. His phrasing is amazing..... Such a beautiful love song Trust me, my friends! -- JR from OKC

Dean (Dino) Martin's given name is Dino Paul Crocetti. Dean is a dyed in the pasta Italian-American. He was one of my mothers favourite singers. Great reaction. 🎸😎
You picked a good one. A lot of people don't realize it but Dean Martin was one of Elvis Presley's biggest influences you can hear it in the style of some of the ballads that Elvis does.
Next Dean Martin song must be “Sway!” It’s so good! Some other fabulous songs from Dean’s contemporaries( not crooners): “Mambo Italiano” by Rosemary Clooney (yes she’s George Clooney’s aunt!), “Stardust” by Nat King Cole, Que Sera Sera by Doris Day. Also, you have to check out Harry Connick Jr! He’s pretty much the Frank Sinatra of our generation. He did the whole album from the movie “When Harry Met Sally”, including the song “It Had to be You” which would be a great one to start with. ❤ And not to make the list too long, but you guys should check out the film “Return To Me” which is wonderful romantic comedy with loads of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra music in it.
Dean Martin is Fabulous! Moon Light in Vermont by Frank Sinatra is also brilliant. I sing it to my six month old grandson...and his face lights up. Thank Y'all.
Dean Martin “Return to Me”!
Some of Dean's biggest hits, and great songs, are "Little Ole Wine Drinker Me", "Everybody Loves Somebody", "Welcome To My World", "Memories Are Made of This", "You're Nobody till Somebody Loves You", "The Door Is Still Open to My Heart", "Houston", "You've Still Got a Place In My Heart", "I Take a Lot of Pride in What I Am", and many more.
I always say you can hear Dean smiling while he's singing. If you're looking for a funny song listen to Houston. My favorite might be Sway. Or Memories Are Made of This. The live performances with The Rat Pack are hilarious but can be a little un-PC by today's standards. Especially with Sammy Davis Jr. 😂❤
Try "Sway". Dino croons so well.
I listened to my Dad's records from 4 to 10 years old during the 1960's. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simon, Billy Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Henry Belafonte, Sammy Davis Jr, but my favorite was; The Mills Brothers. They were like Superstars in Europe in the 1930's, 40's, 50's. Vocal Harmonies like Velvet. 🎶

Dean Martin could sing the phone book and it would be a masterpiece. His singing is so effortless and warm! I hope you'll check out Ain't That A Kick in the Head, it's a more upbeat side of Dino or Sam's Song (a fun duet with Sammy Davis Jr.). Also, it's in most movies set in Las Vegas...
I love his personality, and I am in total agreement with those who would love to hear your reactions to "Everybody Loves Somebody", and "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You".
We went to Italy...ya'll! Hey Jay & Amber, I would suggest this video. It's a scene taken from a 1956 movie called "High Society" and Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra starred in it. Louis Armstong sings alongside Bing Crosby. Just beautiful, I think you'll agree... *"Now You Has Jazz (HD) - Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong From The Film "High Society" (1956)"* This was so much fun guys really appreciated.
Bing and Frank - "Well, Did You Evah!"
There is a song with the two of them together, it’s “The One I Love Belongs To Somebody Else” - Frank and Dean
You guys should check out Dean's song "Everybody Loves Somebody." It was a big hit in the mid-1960s. I remember hearing that when it topped the charts, Dean teased one of his kids because apparently it knocked the kid's favorite band's hit off the top spot. The band was The Beatles, pretty much every kids favorite band at that time.
There was a trio named Dino, Desi and Billy. Dino (pronounced Deano) was Dean Martin's son. Desi was Desi Arnaz, Jr. (Desi Arnaz played Ricky Ricardo on I Love Lucy). And Billy Hinsche was a friend of theirs. They were 11 and 12 years old when they started out. The group only lasted about four years, but they were teen heartthrobs.

You have to do Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime. It’s Dean’s signature song. It’s so romantic and fun.
OMG Dean has literally tons of songs that are great. I like Frank but Dean is my go to! Such a smooth voice.Even though he has quite a few songs that were big hits, I suggest a lot of other songs also. Check out "Cha Cha D'Amour", "I'd Cry Like A Baby", "The Door Is Still Open To My Heart", and "Little Ole Wine Drinker Me". That one was also done by Lefty Frizzell who was a classic country artist and his version is really good also. Other crooners you need to check out or do more of are Al Martino, Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Harry Belafonte, The Mills Brothers, Brook Benton, and Roger Whitaker. Bryan Ferry who was the lead singer of Roxy Music does quite a few covers where he puts his own style. A classic case are his versions of the Janis Joplin song "Piece Of My Heart" and "The Girl Of My Best Friend" by Elvis. They're way different but I think unique and Amber may be more open about them. His song "Slave To Love" is a lovely tune.
Dean was THE BEST!!!!! My favorite performer of his era. If you want to love him any more than you already do, watch the recent TCM documentary about him. First released in November 2021, it's called Dean Martin: King Of Cool, which is a title bestowed upon him by none other than Elvis Presley!! He wasn't perfect (who is???) but he was an exceptionally good & kind man with a whole lot of talent!!!!! My Heart Reminds Me is one of my favorite Dean songs, besides all his wonderful big hits! On The Street Where You Live is another great choice. So is Sway. So very many more, all worth a listen!! There are several videos available of Dean and Frank (& sometimes, Sammy, too). All are VERY entertaining!! Frank & Sammy did a fun duet, Me And My Shadow. On the flip side of that 1962 45 was Sam's Song, sung by Dean & Sammy. You should definitely listen to both!! So much more to see & hear from the most talented members of the Rat Pack, both separately & together!! SPECIAL NOTE; You should watch their original 1960 version of Ocean's 11 on your movie channel. What a hoot it is!! You'll love it!! And here's a very special treat - Frank with Bing Crosby, one of their songs from the fabulous movie, High Society (1956) that also stars Louis Armstrong. Great music throughout. Another to add to your Must See list!! This is Frank & Bing kzread.info/dash/bejne/qmppj9CFc6XVpag.html

His televised celebrity roasts were also hilarious. I
Wow ! Dean Martin the king of cool, like some of the other comments "Return to me" "Everybody loves Somebody "and of course " GENTLE ON MY MIND" all fantastic songs.
One of the most popular singers of the 1950's was Frankie Laine (look him up!) Most people have heard one of his songs, "Rawhide", the theme song to the TV western series starring Eric Fleming and Clint Eastwood (before Clint became a big star!). Frankie could sing any type of song! His "I Believe" was one of his biggest hits. Other hits were "Jealousy" , "That's My Desire" and "Jezebel". He also had country hits like "Cool Water", Mule Train" and "Moonlight Gambler!"
This kind of music is sometimes called (somewhat derogatorily) "Lounge Music" because of how pop music evolved. Originally the main place to encounter live music was in the new bars and lounges that evolved from the speakeasies after prohibition was repealed. This is also why the original bands were always dressed in their Sunday clothes. Once amplification became common, the small speakeasies became much bigger and led to auditorium shows and eventually to huge stadium shows of today. Have a Terrific Tuesday!!
Some Dean Martin songs you may want to check out: "Sway", " Return to Me", "Innamorata", " Non Dimenticar", and "Back to Sorrento".
If you ever watch some old videos of Dean singing, there were timed he would sing while holding a cigarette in hand and smoking while he sings.
I know that Frank, Dean, and Sammy Davis, Jr. all starred in Las Vegas back in the day, and they’d come over to each other’s shows and sing impromptu songs together. And yes, there is film footage of them!
Dean Martin was a VERY relaxed man. I’ve heard it said that he made Perry Como look like a nervous wreck lol
All I sense is pure honey-toned vocals whenever Dino starts to sing. [He is MY choice of the best singer in the Rat Pack!!] This man personified suave whenever he sang!!
One of my fav Deano songs
You gotta hear "SWAY", most romantic song ever. Dino is my favorite from that era.
He has a really smooth voice.
Frank Sinatra, New York, New York. Dean Martin, Everybody loves somebody
Mexican crooner music is called ranchera. Probably the most known ranchera singer is Vicente Fernández. Also check out Johnny Mathis (not ranchera). Johnny still occasionally releases new albums and is now 87. Johnny started out in the 1950s
His biggest hit and signature song in the early 70s when he had his weekly TV variety show was "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime". Its different from the "Italian" type songs you have heard before and appealed to a bigger audience and became a hit. His signature voice and relaxed style still shines in that song. On your movie channel you should look for his "Matt Helm" spy movies that spoofed the popular James Bond genre in the early 70s. A lot of comedy, gorgeous ladies, action, and many of his songs in the background music.

Love Ain't That A Kick In The Head by Dean Martin. As for a Sinatra and Martin duet, The Oldest Established .... ( there's also a version with Frank, Dean and Bing Crosby ). Jay, for easy listening ( whiskey and cigar music ) , check out Sinatra and Jobim " Girl From Ipanema ". Brazilian music is so smooth Amber might even smoke a cigar with you !
I loved Dean since I first heard him, I got teased as a child for liking this kind of music, like my sister did for loving Elvis, but I loved him even more when he was kind and put his favorite artist on his show, Dean Martin even told on his show or in a article that he got his style from the Mills Brothers, y'all should listen to Dean Martin and his idols, the Mills Brothers singing on his show, it's a classic they sound so much alike.
I watched Dean's show on tv every week. He also made some spy movies. as Matt Helm Another great duo was Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in their On the Road movies with Dorothy Lamour .
This brings back great memories of bon fires at our house and my parent and their friends singing these songs. One of their friends looked and sounded just like Dean. He even sang at my wedding (When Irish eyes are smiling) he always called me Irish because of my red hair and green eyes. Thank you for bring back the memories of the 60s anf 70s for me.
Probably the greatest all round entertainer of all time. He could do it all. Legend.
I love listening to Dean Martin. I grew up watching his TV variety shows with my mom. I also love watching his films. Two of my favorites are westerns: Rio Bravo (with John Wayne, Rick Nelson, and Walter Brennan) and 5 Card Stud (with Robert Mitchum). He also starred in movies alongside other members of the Rat Pack like Oceans 11 and Robin and the 7 Hoods.
Memories Are Made of This a classic of Deans.
We will be in Bella Roma starting next Tuesday for three weeks I plan on singing volare, on an evening in Roma, that’s amore and more to my beautiful wife
Dean Martin's nickname was "The King of Cool."
Dean's Return To Me is lovely. All of Dino's songs are worthy.
Dean Martin is my favorite. I loved his variety show.
I'll say it for you, I like Dean Martin more than Frank, he's my favourite crooner for sure. So many more great songs of his to listen to. Everybody Loves Somebody, Memories are made of this, Gentle on My Mind, You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You, and Little ole wine drinker me, to name just a few.
Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Bobby Darin , all of Italian ancestry, were THE masters of lounge singing...
Turner Classic Movies did a documentary with Deana Martin, his daughter, and many friends. Elvis once told Deana Martin, “I may be the King of Rock N’ Roll but your dad is the King of Cool. It’s an actual movie you might consider for you movie channel. It’s very interesting. It talks about old Hollywood, very Italian culture, rat pack, his family and his career. Deana shared a lot about her dad. Dean Martin: King Of Cool.
Dean does a twist in his voice that I've never heard from anyone else. In the 70s I lived with an Italian family and all I heard were Italian swears.
As I recall, Dino was 1st generation American, his parents were both from Italy and spoke Italian... so he grew up speaking Italian first and English was his second language... so his pronunciations are true, and natural, for him.
One fun Dino song is "That's Amore". It's one everybody likes to sing along.
'Do as the Romans do!! ' Oh My!!!! 🥰 oh yes! iagree with Amber, when he talks Italian ... swoon ... from a sixty something Scottish woman😍
Jay, Dean Martin…”Remember Me I’m The One Who Loves You”
Non dimenticar is another one of Dean's great songs and if you are looking for swarve, then check out his live performance the real definition of layed back.
Now you need to add "Moonstruck" to your movie list. Stars Cher and Nicholas Cage.
