Frank Sinatra was an American singer and actor. Nicknamed the "Chairman of the Board", Sinatra is considered one of the most popular entertainers of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He is among the world's best-selling music artists, having sold an estimated 150 million records.

My parents loved Frank and I inherited that love. There have been better singers for sure, but no one could convey the meaning of a songs lyrics better than Frank Sinatra. He had so much respect for songwriters, he always told his audiences who wrote the song he was about to sing during his shows. I was fortunate to see him in Lake Tahoe more years ago than I care to remember. Don Rickles was his opening act. A night to remember. ❤️😄

If you liked this, you would love "It Was A Very Good Year." Look for the black and white video of him actually recording the song in the studio with the orchestra playing all around him...in one take. Other noteworthy songs include "The Best Is Yet to Come," "Witchcraft," "I've Got You Under My Skin," and "All the Way." Then there are these from the '60s and '70s: "Strangers In the Night," "That's Life," "Somethin' Stupid" (his duet with his daughter Nancy), and his last big hit that plays every night at New York Yankees games, "Theme from New York, New York." I would be remiss if I didn't mention his daughter Nancy's biggest hit, "These Boots Were Made for Walking." It won't take much and you will fall in love with Frank Sinatra's music.

Great reaction to one of the greatest crooners ever! This song gets me in my feels too! Frank Sinatra has a very deep catalog of music. Suggest The Days of Wine and Roses, Fly Me to the Moon, Strangers in The Night, Summer Wind and New York, New York. And these are just a sample of his work. He wasn't named Chairman of the Board for nothing.😁

Hey, Chad. There is a live recording session with Sinatra as he sings his classic, IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR, in studio with friends in attendance. It is intimate. It is Sinatra at his best and gloriously black and white. The orchestra is led by Frank's notable collaborator Nelson Riddle. And the performance is perfect. Give it a listen. I think Dee will love it too. I believe his best song is I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN. But one song at a time.

Always think of my late dad whenever I hear this....He was a WWII Navy Vet. He almost didn't make it back. Frank once said he didn't like the song. But he knew people did like it and it connected to them, so he would do it. if you like Sinatra, try "One For My Baby. " Quiet singing is powerful too, on that one. Frank caught both of your attentions, but the wife was absolutely mesmerized...

Ol' Blue Eyes was kicking "A" for a long time.... and did it His Way.... and pretty damned Well, too !!! Sooo, so many hits in different styles. Growing up in the 60s, he was old hat and trying to do covers of current pop songs.... not his thing. Yeeeears later, I discovered what had made him famous, his earlier big band work. Now, I must have nearly a dozen Sinatra albums!! Recommendation? Most will go for his big sellers and late career stuff. I really like his slower ballads... maybe, try One for My Baby. Bette Midler sang it to Johnny Carson at the close of his last show after 30 yrs. of late night tv.

By the late 60s, male vocalists like Sinatra (Perry Como, Bing Crosby and the like) had been pushed out of the limelight by Rock and Roll. This song marked Sinatra's retirement from performing, which really made it a huge hit. Such a huge hit that, of course, he made a come back and performed for many more years.

My Way was written for Frank by Paul Anka, who is a top singer in his own right. The lyrics fit Frank to a tee. At some point you should try Elvis Presley’s version of the song. They came out the same year and Elvis also does the song beautiful.

I saw one of his last tours at Radio City Music Hall in the late 80s. It was called The rat pack reunion but Dean Martin dropped out within a few weeks and it ended up Frank, Sammy and Shirley McClain. I'm a full fledged 60s and 70s music fan. I never envisioned going to see Frank but it was unreal seeing him in 1988 at the age of 73. His phrasing was still top shelf , his annunciation and command of The English language was that of a professor. I couldn't believe how good he still sounded as a 73 year old man but I guess that's why they call him The Voice!! Ive been to hundreds of concerts and have seen all the greats from the 60s,70s and 80s going back nearly 50 years. The reason I don't say greats after the 80s is because there really isn't much that compares to 60s and 70s other than groups from those decades still performing like The Stones or Clapton for example. Yet Frank a guy from from grandpa's day was one of the most nostalgic and still talented singer I've ever seen. The only guy today that could still sing in his 70s like Sinatra did back in 1988 is Paul Rodgers without a doubt!! Rodgers still sounds incredible and he can still hit the notes, still has great range and if you're looking to see a 1960s and 70s legend who still can sing, it's Paul Rodgers!!!! Don't wait too long because most everyone else from the glory days of Rock music can't sing worth a shit anymore. Their voices are shot!! Rodgers is shockingly still a tremendous vocalist , I am shocked at how great he still sounds!!! Jeff Lynne from ELO still sounds decent but Rodgers is The Frank Sinatra of Rock and Roll and Frank is beyond words and description!!! During one the last concert tours Sinatra gave at the age of 80 ,he had a very bad performance and instructed his manager to give all his fans their money back. I believe it was in Japan!! Say what you will but you will never see this type of music again and even if you get close, there will NEVER be another Sinatra!!!!!! He was a living legend and his voice still gives me the chills even after hearing it so many, many times!!! What a guy!!!

The "Crooner" of crooners. the smoothest and most controlled voice . Came in the era where the big bands provided the background music for the singers. Others in his era: Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, and Tony Bennett and Sammy Davis; followed by the likes of Ray Charles and Bobby Darin; but Frank "ole blue eyes" was the best. Other songs: New York New York, Cycles, Strangers in the night, Fly me to the moon, When I was seventeen - many many more!. This was written actually by Paul Anka and given to Frank. Sinatra did not like it at first because he thought it was too self-focused, but was convinced to make it a single (one take in recording studio) and it has become HIS signature song. Another from this era whose live shows were just as good as the recorded versions - they just knew how to sing, sing and sing.. It is sooo nice to hear young persons like yourselves whom truly appreciate musicians/singers of this era.

The story of this song is when Frank's fellow artist Paul Anka was on vaccation somewhere at the French riviera. In the hotel lobby he heard a local guy playing this song and he immediately loved it! Even so much that he asked the guy if he could by the rights to it there and then and he claims it was with Sinatra in mind. At this time FS was fed up with showbiz and wanted to more or less drop out and leave it all behind him. When Paul Anka returned to America he looked up FS and presented this song. Needless to say Sinatra also loved it and it became his like anthem the song he would end every concert with for the rest of his life.
