SHEIN is back at it again, Loyal Theorists. If you remember from our previous episode we learned that the fast fashion brand STOLE from popular KZreadr Cassey Ho (Blogilates). But things just got WORSE. Not only did they steal from Cassey again, but they also got involved in a Rico lawsuit and earned BAD press from social media influencers. Can SHEIN survive this?

Just wanna notice: stop buying from shady shops doesnt help freeing labor. Our bigger companies use asian labor too, for example when my mom wws 14-16 she worked for adidas and nikey- basically we'll never be able to stop labor, the only way we can help workers is to pay them more.
@ElusiveTy
5 ай бұрын
I'd certainly hope that no one is trying to 'stop labour'. There's not an issue with labour (we provide labour just by working anywhere), it's the kind of labour that's the problem. The thing is, increasing wages for those workers will increase the end product price. For anyone that supports paying those labourers more money, the way you can support that is by buying products from companies that already do, which will already have more expensive products. It's hard to know which companies to support and avoid but there are some outliers that are absolutely horrible to be purchasing from like Temu, Wish, and SHEIN.

The most effective way to force your will onto a company is by boycotting them. Look at BP. If every single person in Europe or america would stop buying from them now, they would change so fast, you wouldn't believe it. As a consumer you have power. If you choose to go to a pup full of racists than you are supporting racism. If you are buying from brands like shein, you are directly supporting enslavement. You are responsible for your choices.

Still just a theory. Other companies infamous for hated practices are doing just fine. I don't see a Chinese company giving up it's primary advantage just to salvage an IPO, and the bad press isn't hurting their bottom line enough to matter. Company valuation is more than just stock, and they know they just need to get their foot in the door, not actually change.

yeah, i also have the problem with pricing of gothing clothes, as shein has CHEAP clothes, which actually makes it possible for me to express myself in a comfortable way..
considering how many clothing companies on public are getting away with similar antics, I doubt this will work. We'd need a whole movement against the entire fashion industry (ie we all lose trust in the industry as a whole) before changes will take hold.
@levinletlive

Honestly, stopping Shein is just treating a symptom of the much bigger labor movement's problems. We are overwhelmingly overworked and underpaid, and Shein, Temu, Wish, etc. all exist to capitalize on the needs of the poor.
due to increased awareness about companies like Shein (as well as other fast fashion brands) i actually took up learning to sew, crochet, and embroider simply so i can have cute clothes that i want but have them last longer and be more environmentally conscience. i even reuse scraps as much as i can to lower my personal fabric waste.

At my school learning about sweatshops was part of the curriculum, and we were taught about how Nike are one of the biggest users of sweatshops in the world. @@KyrieFortune there's no ethical consumption, but you CAN avoid overconsumption and being wasteful. the "theory" in this video is that he hopes shein will improve but i don't see that happening as companies already on the NYSE have a lot in common with shein
I love that the name Shein sounds like the German word "Schein" which can mean both a bill (as in a Euro Bill) or appearance (as in Keeping up Appearances). Fitting name.
I don't like this but it's so cheap... There's this one swimsuit for ages 5-12 it's so stretchy, and this phone case, and those room decorations 😢 I'm gonna have to stop shopping there...

@@jackietheclown I use Vinted, but even if a item is £1, postage and buyer protection ontop makes it like £6- most things in my size aren’t what I like(I’m into cute, frilly, ruffles) I like chairty shops as well but again my size makes it difficult. The other day it had a really cute pink cardigan with light pink hearts and it was so cute but the size was only small.

I agree they need to be stopped like the clothing always comes ripped or something like that so I have banned it from my house lol

I wanna see a style theory video on the best way to clean your ears. I've seen a few of your cleaning videos, and I want y'all to go in-depth on why sticking cotton swabs in your ears is bad, how you can properly clean your ears at home, is paying for a professional ear flushing worth it? Etc.
@ST-xw3cv

Cleaning your ears is safe. If q tips weren't safe, they wouldn't be sold. Doctors just want you to have wax build up so you have to give them money and get them to remove it. They love peddling antibiotics, too, and not cleaning your ears is how you get infections. You don't need doctors for 90% of things, they just want money.

This. A lot of companies use outsource company hires in order to side step actually being responsible. In some cases, they are also lied to or it's a case of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing situation. Reputable company hires another company. That company hires another and that one hires another who doesn't give a toss about local labor laws and then they hire another for sourcing of materials.
