Not real though ,he was in fact the only child of a single parent .his dad left when he was three )he moved round the country a lot which made him quite insular ( his words) as he didn’t stay at one school very long

@@foljs5858 From reading Madness: House of Fun, it comes over that most of the band came from single parent families, and the song is more about their idealised idea of what they imagined family life would have been like.

I suspect this song is actually about England and "their house", Buckingham Palace. ( see 00:05:51 + ) It says, "our house it has a crowd", but it might be an intentionally misheard lyric, "it has a CROWN". "Our house, was our castle and our keep"

Our House by madness was released in 1982, it's a golden oldie... What you called a pool or hot tub looked more like a Roman bath, which were historically public baths, going back 2000 years to Roman days.

funfact i read in some old fan magazine, All the members of the band were unemployed when they recorded their first album lol with barely enough pocket change for a bus ride home I recall.

Since you’re on the 80’s how about some Paul Young. Great singer. One of my all time favorites and a real vocal power house live back in the 1980’s. Some songs I would suggest are “Every Time You Go Away”, “Wherever I Lay My Hat” and “Broken Man” to start with.
