Strongest MMA Fighter Destroying Kickboxers - Alistair Overeem
Спорт
An MMA fighter is not supposed to destroy the best kickboxers in the world. But the impossible accomplished by Alistair Overeem. His rise in kickboxing was the fastest and the most epic in the history of K-1 World Grand Prix tournament, which was the most prestigious combat sports event in the world. From historic defeats to historic victories, this is his story. Now that he's back fighting the best in kickboxing, how do you think he will do against Rico Verhoeven?

@@barrymantz6026 I'm a black belt in MCMAP (Marine Martial Arts Program). I was an instructor, I coached fighters when I got out, and I can't help but to see opportunities get wasted while watching fights. It's not a big deal brother... I'm just saying Alistair had extremely good awareness in his center of balance and body position. He was a good striker, and the power was something. He had ease in take downs and controlling his opponents. But he lacked counters, and his submissions were limited. I would have loved to see him master BJJ, since that's all that he really lacked. He was a wrestler and did kick boxing. Two excellent disciplines to have in MMA. The final skill (BJJ) wraps it all up to be the ideal fighter. I'm not dissing him, just stating my opinion.

I liked the way he would adjust his opponent's head right after a strike, so that it was right where he wanted it for the knockout punch 🤙
This is a perfect example of will and intent. He made a choice and he stuck with it. The absolute focus. You can watch his gaze shift in the slow-mo to each point he's about to strike and then he just does it. No hesitation, no flinch when he takes a hit. The man is a tank. I'm not a "fan" of fighting sports, I have nothing against it either. I know nothing about it really. I'm a small-arms weapon instructor. But, damn, this guy. Always had trouble with technical strikers that weren't years past their prime. Or even sometimes some that were. Bonjasky could counterstrike and it turned their fight into a snooze fest in which Reem resorted to throws out of frustration because he was getting picked apart coming in. He's always been top tier, but never quite "the guy", because his chin and inability to adapt have held him back.
“He’s so jacked his own left hook sends him flying” 😂 what a weird take on swinging wildly, missing badly and being off balance 😂
Regardless, I have utmost respect for his opponents for having the balls to actually face him.

He is great My favorite I have a broken time now but now time to wakeup.
He was a real beast of MMA before.. but the UFC is so stacked with younger and talented fighters.
Alistair Overeem has a specific game plan in his Kickboxing fights that works. He walks forward most of the fight with a high, tight guard, putting pressure on, and tires out his more skilled Kickboxing opponents, and than lands hard shots to put them down. The latest Badr Hari fight was a perfect example. Also past fights like the Spong or Ben Edwards fights are perfect examples. Hari and Spong were outstriking Overeem the first 2 rounds, and than eventually began tiring as Overeem kept pressing forwarding, while blocking their punches with his high guard, and than picked his spots to get his power shots through the wanning defense of his tiring opponents. He also benefits very well from the padding boxing gloves for his high guard as he walks forward.

Well that and the 30 inch arms are pretty useful for covering up with lol. I personally still think his actual striking technique etc is utter garbage 🗑️ but he's obviously very strong, got good defense for a big guy and can take some real good hits.
@Josh77600

@@willtherealrustyschacklefo3812 His arms are big but not even 20 inch. I think his striking could be a problem against Rico for example, who has more stamina. Overeem cannot keep striking for 5 rounds straight.

Hands down, Lawrence Kenshin does the best striking "breakdowns" in the business. Your history of non-biased "good reads" is phenomenal and refreshing! I've listened for decades disgusted as ringside commentary clings hopefully for the wrong warrior, total lack of respect, even calling brilliant strategy as "just got lucky". Poor sportsmanship inside and outside the ring... cheap and low brow! Look how many times Overeem pulled or stopped blows knowing the fight was over even before the referee reacted... a true champion and gentlemen!

Most just talk about him being big and strong, which of course he is, but he was a very technical fighter, certainly the most technical heavyweight in combat sports
