Strongest MMA Fighter Destroying Kickboxers - Alistair Overeem

Спорт

An MMA fighter is not supposed to destroy the best kickboxers in the world. But the impossible accomplished by Alistair Overeem. His rise in kickboxing was the fastest and the most epic in the history of K-1 World Grand Prix tournament, which was the most prestigious combat sports event in the world. From historic defeats to historic victories, this is his story. Now that he's back fighting the best in kickboxing, how do you think he will do against Rico Verhoeven?

@@barrymantz6026 I'm a black belt in MCMAP (Marine Martial Arts Program). I was an instructor, I coached fighters when I got out, and I can't help but to see opportunities get wasted while watching fights. It's not a big deal brother... I'm just saying Alistair had extremely good awareness in his center of balance and body position. He was a good striker, and the power was something. He had ease in take downs and controlling his opponents. But he lacked counters, and his submissions were limited. I would have loved to see him master BJJ, since that's all that he really lacked. He was a wrestler and did kick boxing. Two excellent disciplines to have in MMA. The final skill (BJJ) wraps it all up to be the ideal fighter. I'm not dissing him, just stating my opinion.

Not to mention, remain a Top 10 heavyweight contender in UFC for as long as he did. Alistair Overeem has a specific game plan in his Kickboxing fights that works. He walks forward most of the fight with a high, tight guard, putting pressure on, and tires out his more skilled Kickboxing opponents, and than lands hard shots to put them down. The latest Badr Hari fight was a perfect example. Also past fights like the Spong or Ben Edwards fights are perfect examples. Hari and Spong were outstriking Overeem the first 2 rounds, and than eventually began tiring as Overeem kept pressing forwarding, while blocking their punches with his high guard, and than picked his spots to get his power shots through the wanning defense of his tiring opponents. He also benefits very well from the padding boxing gloves for his high guard as he walks forward.

Well that's a disappointment lol. He's got pretty good defense but as far as his technique and skill, those are pretty garbage honestly. Now yes he's alot more talented than he should be at his size, butt that's really not saying a whole lot tbh. Big guys aren't known for skill lol

And not nearly as technical as Mike Tyson js(and I'm not even a big Tyson fan btw) I like him alot personally for who he is, but was never really a "fan" of his career. But one thing about Tyson most overlook is that his actual skill and technique far outweighs his massive size . Most just talk about him being big and strong, which of course he is, but he was a very technical fighter, certainly the most technical heavyweight in combat sports

Lmao, yes, when he "started eating horsemeat" is when he got huge. Is "horsemeat" the new word for steroids?! Just like the "liver king" did it totally natural...natural steroids.

Alistair was possibly the reason K-1 actually banned clinch strikes, that says a lot about his power

They was banned before he fought in k1. Could only place your hands on side of head but not hold. Was a bit blurry but officially in k1 no clinching

@@LawrenceKenshin I saw an article that was stating it was Alistair but you know the internet these days lol. It did seem to make sense since he’s a heavyweight and throws a lot more force into his clinch strikes. Especially knees. Buakaw is a legend. I’ve always thought it would be awesome to drop everything in life and go train out in Thailand. Simple life

I am a big fan of Overeem. I am always amazed at how well he could just move in on fighters to deliver strikes while avoiding being hit himself. I really loved his fight against Brock Lesnar and watch it a few times per year. I was really disappointed when he did not obtain the UFC title, but he is still a great one.
