I have disagree With a lot of the comments on here… somebody who has watched the leafs since 84 I know the LEAFS are not going to win the cup. gotta be realistic they’re not winning the cup this year. So a 70 goal season is something I’ve never seen before or thought i would ever see by a LEAF player . watching the team have to be more thrn just winnng a championship. I like the idea of keeping them in Florida..As much as I appreciate our sports media , keeping them in the game and away from the noise is best for mindset

Goals do determine wins in all hockey games, but the Leafs need to build around him with better Dmen and goaltending see how they do in the Post Season coming up.. They did finally get past the first round last season Post Season so maybe they will get past the second round coming up this time..

It's funny how you experts forget about the giveaways that led to goals and he's just suppose to shrug it off and be on his game. Why, did you in your examination of the game? Did any of you geniuses come to the conclusion that sloppy play in front of him, threw him off his game? Nope! Maybe your trying to say these defenceman don't give the puck away a lot and Samsonov never has to continuously cover for these mistakes. If he doesn't he's lost and are you comfortable? Better get your eyes and brains adjusted and see whats really happening.

They only allowed like 20 shots…a half decent goalie and they would have destroyed them. Not too concerned about that game.

Matthews has scored in seven consecutive games & has consecutive points in his last 12 games which he's on fire right now.. U never kill a player's "Momentum" when they're in that zone stupidest thing u can do irrefutablely taking away a player's momentum when they are red hot and the best goal scorer in the league since Matthews entrance in the NHL til now where his unequivocal momentum should never be interrupted or halted.. Any player that's mentally wired in that dimension scoring a plethora of goals, the stupidest thing to do is interfere with that and take the momentum away..

AM34 gets 70 in DET, or not at all. I’m not playing Matthews in Florida either of those two games for fear of injury, in fact, I’m playing the entire AHL roster for those two games. I think that would send a statement saying we don’t care about home ice, and we’re not even taking the chance with any of our best players. Matthews is going to score 70 next year anyways dot who cares about a nice round number like 70, when he’ll be scoring a goal per game next year on average
