Stressful Arrival In Shanghai, China 🇨🇳

Stressful Arrival In Shanghai, China - My 1st time in China
What's Shanghai and China going to be like? Let's find out!
Today, we are going to travel to Shanghai, China. It's going to be my first time in China, so I am very excited. Not many western tourists are traveling to China, so I am not really sure what to expect. I will take a flight from Bangkok directly to Shanghai, where I then hopefully be able to get a visa on arrival. Join me on this traveling day to the very interesting country of China.

As a Chinese native, I wanna give a shout out to the SIM card vendor at 20:00 for going above and beyond and help you through the SIM card registration. Even as a local it’s usually a long and tedious process. The gentleman did the whole check in for you at the kiosk and waited until you are through with the SIM card registration. Truly marvelous service.

Congratulations and much respect to the people of Shanghai and China for having created such a sophisticated set of systems to let you arrive so successfully without preparation. Imagine how proud and impressed the people of Shanghai from 100 years ago would be to see their wonderous city of today! All the best. Cheers.

I've visited China four times and saw different regions. Every time I've visited... I've seen big improvements.I would even be bold enough to say that the major cities in China are now overall cleaner looking than the major cities in the US.The China described by the Western media is completely different from the real China I see.For one example, I've visited public parks in Shanghai and was amazed at how clean they look. No litter or graffiti anywhere... even the skateboard rink looks clean. And there are lots of people out there enjoying the parks.Other than some culture shock, I feel China is very safe. What impresses me the most is that life is very convenient, a cashless society, the subway system is very new and clean, and the people are very friendly.Other than some culture shock, I feel China is very safe. You can also go out late at night. China's technological level is beyond my imagination. You can also go out late at night. But In the US, I dare not go out at night, for fear that black people will shoot me.have fun in China and God bless you.

I've been to China 4 times, (90s, 2002, 2006 and 2018) and I'm not proficient in Chinese language. The 2018 China (Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou) trip blew my mind and just months ago I was in Texas Austin which is the place where many Americans are migrating to. The developments, the advancements, while maintaining their thousands of years cultural sites. The people are living their lives much better than my own country, no need to keep your eyes opened scanning surroundings wherever you go unlike America or UK wherever you go especially after dark, guns are not allowed if that makes you feel better. Ken if I were you, go back to China (next trip) to those mountainous landscapes like Zhangjiajie, Jiuzhaigou, Guilin etc..... you'll spend more time exploring in China than other Asian countries, coming from someone who have visited Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Macau, Japan.

At the noodle store, you had “zhajiang Mian” or zhajiang noodles, which is a staple noodle dish found in north china and Korea. It looked very delicious by the way. The girl at the restaurant actually translated “delicious” for you, it’s “Mei Wei”. But she directly said it to the restaurant guy rather than to you. She told him “he says your food is delicious”, that’s why he responded immediately with a smile and “thank you”! Great to see the friendly vibes in Shanghai… Shanghai is pretty much the New York of china people living there are fast, friendly, straight forward, sassy!

We love the way you fearlessly immerse yourself into the local neighbourhoods and interact with local people. You have a knack for adapting to any situation and making connections with people, even when there is a big language barrier. I'd suggest trying a famous fried bun called "Sheng Jian Bao" 生煎包. Be careful not to burn your mouth on the hot soup when you bite into them! The hot soup can sit in pockets and squirt out unexpectedly.

I’ve just got back from Shanghai and I really enjoyed it. I’ve lived in Qingdao and visited Beijing, Changsha and Sanya before so I’m very familiar with China. Getting through customs and immigration was a lot more stressful than before covid though. To really enjoy the experience you should learn a little Chinese because not many locals speak English and lots of the best restaurants etc aren’t really visited by many foreigners. I love how open minded and spontaneous you are great video!

Authentic Shanghai local cuisine is not supposed to be spicy. However, you may encounter restaurants where they serve food from other regions, such as Sichuan and/or Hunan, that are known for very hot and spicy food. So it's always a good idea to ask or check the menus first, and they should be written in both Chinese and English. Have fun!

The Shanghai maglev train is a magnetic levitation train (maglev) line. The line uses the German Transrapid technology. The Shanghai maglev is the world's first commercial high-speed maglev and has a maximum cruising speed of 431 km/h , making it the fastest train service in commercial operation. The train line connects Shanghai Pudong airport to Line 2 and Langyang Road Station train station where passengers can interchange to the Shanghai Metro to continue their trip to the city center. The journey takes 7 minutes and 20 seconds to complete the distance of 30 km.The train was inaugurated in December 2002 by the German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder and the Chinese premier, Zhu Rongii.

Is that why so many accounts smear China because the West does not allow others to be stronger than itself

I lived in Shanghai and Chengdu (home of the Panda) for 6 years. The Mag Lev is a German build Magnetic Levitation train. I love your enthusiasm! The Chinese are kind, friendly and a little intrigued by foreigners. If you lived in Chengdu, they would stare at you, because they haven't seen a Westerner, before. This gets a bit of getting used to. 555

I'm in Shanghai right now. Lived here from 95 to 03 and come back often (wife is Shanghainese). I was cringing while watching but then just enjoyed it because you did almost exactly what I do when going to a new place. This is actually my first trip in 6 years (covid) and, yes, the city is MUCH quieter. Not only are many of the cars electric, but the city busses are as well. And most importantly the Mopeds are electric (they probably made the most noise in the old days). Shanghai is 180 degrees different, crowd wise and pollution wise, than 20 years ago. What I am having the hardest time dealing with is the whole WeChat or Alipay thing and not being able to use cash. I heard that foreigners can get away with using cash at times and you proved that to be true. Have fun.
