Street Guardian just released the new SG9663DCPRO+. New sensor, new lens assembly, and new and weather-resistant chassis. But is it better than the X2Pro? Come have a look at my latest review video, and find out for yourself: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h35qt6ifgc7Vmqw.html

@@JeremyY Great. I'm only concerned about parking mode - the time lapse, as opposed to "buffered," type is supposedly not the best. Any thoughts on that? I've been "hit" three times in the last few weeks. Minor impact but damage done. I wish I'd had something to tell me what happened. I'll pay more for the buffered type if it will do a better job. Thanks for your insight.

@@JM-eq3sx The X2Pro's latest firmware update allows for low bitrate 30fps constant video recording (with audio, which is nice) in addition to the 'timelapse' option. I've tried other dashcams with the buffered capability. Never liked it. I find that it never gets the timing right and never records the actual incident. So I'd opt for the X2Pro's constant low bitrate Parking Mode video recording instead of chancing it with a camera's buffer. Sorry to hear about the damage to your car, by the way. That's screwed up.

Huge thanks for this video. Totalled my last vehicle...had a KDLinks DX2 to save my "fault." Wanted something with more features this time (and the reviews have tanked on Amazon since I bought it 2+ years ago). Was inching toward this one, now I'm sold.

@@JeremyY I just wanted to update ..I didn't get a street guardian brand camera even tho I do like them and they are high quality..honestly i only had enough money for a Z-Edge Z3G upgrade camera..I'm very happy with it and it has excellent video and can pick up licence plates as well as displaying speed and includes GPS...I do recommend a Street Guardian camera if you have a little extra to spend because after looking at this video and others on the Street Guardian I wish I had waited and saved up more money but all in all I'm happy

I still use their SG9665GC, a model that has never failed me since 2016 and I live in a very hot place. Anything you leave in the car during the summer gets baked and that camera sure got its fair share of heat and extremes. It still runs smoothly. I may have detected one dead pixel in some night time videos but I'm not even too sure. So yeah, I'll definitely upgrade to a SGGCX2PRO.

Three questions: 1) does this version still have the external GPS plug-in? 2) Can the secondary (rear) camera be easily shut off and 3) if you use a larger capacity card does it require special formatting?

  • @JeremyY

    1) Yes 2) Yes, you can toggle dual and single-channel recording. That's actually how you enable 60FPS recording mode, as 60FPS is only possible under single-channel recording 3) Yes. If you insert a microSD card with >32GB storage you will be auto-prompted by the X2PRO to reformat to exFAT

  • @JeremyY

The X2Pro is designed to operate between -20°C to +70°Celsius. Or -4°F to 158°F. A car interior's can heat up from 130°F to 172°F at the topmost extreme. So the X2Pro should do pretty well in the Vegas heat. I haven't tried mine out in the desert, but I have exposed it to direct sunlight for hours during Ontario's heat alert days and it ran with no issues.
