Street Food in Japan: Giant Clam

Another seafood in Okinawa. Giant Clam - rather chewy texture (as Sashimi, also cooked), prepared Geoduck clam makes a better dish -

I think there’s organizations in Australia that farm claims so they’re able to have a better chance at survival. In the wild maybe 1 or 2 babies will survive out of the billion that the mature clam will eject. But on the clam farms 1% of the billions survive which is like a couples thousand more than if they were in the wild. But 2 out 8 of the species is extinct already.

I don't criticize their diet, I criticize the fact that they steal their seafood from the territorial waters of other countries, while the media lies to people and claims it's "Chinese, Vietnamese, North Koreans, etc" that are doing it. Because while it's true that some of the poachers are North Koreans and the largest minority are probably Chinese, the SECOND largest minority right behind them are Japanese who flag and impersonate other nationalities - and MUCH of what everybody poaches is sold to Japan anyway. It's actually much worse than that because the Japanese are technologically literate which means they can strip the area of fish more efficiently than anyone else can - although the Chinese are catching up, they're not nearly as adept at hiding their identities; in a way, they're almost more honest because they honestly believe they "own" the sea that is "Named for them" (snort*, and the entire Indian Ocean belongs to India?).

If you've watched some of the videos where they cut meat out of shell fish like this there are a lot of people who make a post about how this is a waste of water. My message was directed at these people. Hence , read the original post for the 3rd time please.

I think "street food" refers to something you eat in the open, like a fish market or something like that. We have something similar in my country, they serve you a variety of foods you can eat on the go, or have a sit four 30 minutes to eat, but you're not necesarily in a restaurant, so you're still "on the street" O:

dear comments section, when living creatures are "so old" they will eventually die in nature. and for being so old, it means the clam may have had a chance at reproduction. if you're concerned about over fishing, you should youtube a tuna cannery video and maybe not shade the small okinawan seafood store that has literally less than 10 clams in their tank
