FLY FISHING FOR TROUT IN PENNSYLVANIA!!
Streamer fishing is easily one of my favorite ways to catch brown trout and this video proves exactly why! Not only did I catch several nice brown trout but I also had a chance at my second musky on the fly.
Pa has a rich history of fly fishing. The shear amount of trout water in Pa is overwhelming which is part of the reason the state has produced some of the most well known anglers in fly fishing. As incredible as the state is I’ve never really put much effort into exploring it… But I’m hoping to change that.
The further we worked our way down the river, the less trout I moved. This is pretty typical for larger river systems because as you move down stream the water warms. Eventually you get to the point where trout can no longer survive. I tried for musky on the last mile or so of the float with no success, which shouldn’t be a shock. But we couldn’t complain, boating 6 fish in marginal trout water is always a treat. If you all have ever wanted to fish Pa then hit up Dan from ‪@HardwayOutdoors‬ and book a trip. He’s a wealth of knowledge and will get you on some fish and is seriously just a good dude.
Thanks for watching the video!

Jon, you're in my territory now. One day you should try the West Branch of the Delaware. Very limited access but more than a few big boys swimming around in there.

@@hardmanfishing - There's only 2 public access points I know of on a 17 (?) mile stretch, but there is a club or two that are private property. This guy, Scott, who's channel is PA Woods & Water knows the area well and is a pretty good fisherman. He could use some videography lessons from you. 🤣

Three questions: Can you recommend the absolute best to streamer fly tying book? Can you recommend the best KZread channel in order to learn just how you lot across the pond tye the streamers that you use? Can you put me in contact with a dude who may be willing to tye up and send to me here in Warwickshire, England. Keep the videos coming! Love it.

Love watching ya'lls fishing videos. I recently got a couple of fly rods and reels and can't figure out why fly fishermen spool out their line. It looks like it would create a tangled mess. Why don't you just reel in the excess line? I can't find anything online that explains it. I have never been fly fishing before but am looking forward to this spring and summer and trying it out. thanks Michael M.

Good day of fishing, John. In those 'dark' waters I always use black or dark green streamers, as you did. It almost always works. Ehm, did you misuse a hammer recently? (right thump).

Awesome! Didn't think browns got that big there or that you float rivers with rafts. Ever try any mouse patterns there on the top? Looks like a good river for it. Keep putting videos out like this so people start flocking there instead of crowding us out in Montana and destroying the rivers :)

Dan and I were talking about throwing mouse patterns in there actually LOL and I don't think I'll have that much of an effect to pull the anglers from montana to Pa! Although a lot of places out east have big trout

Lol. I've caught maybe 5 19" inch browns over many years fishing in pa. I watched my dad catch a 24" out of a super small creek I couldn't believe it. It was blind in one eye. The lakes are where the big boys are in my area tho.

I’d tell you about a private stocked fishery that is available to the public but I don’t want to ruin a local gem. It has absolute tanks. 20+ is more common then uncommon..browns, palominos and rainbows. Fat as footballs. Its unreal. It’s addicting.
