I've never experienced anxiety in my life. I had a few friends who would suffer panic attacks and I remember I would literally think of them as emotionally weak. It wasn't until I was like 25 when out of nowhere I got gnarly anxiety. All forms. It got so bad to the point where I couldn't even drive. I'm 32 now and can honestly say that I have overcome my anxiety disorder. Including basically everything, you're saying. 1. Journaling. Honest writing about your emotions every single night. Becoming conscious of your thoughts and emotions is huge. 2. Take care of your body. No more energy drinks. Exercise. Alcohol... it's absolute poison. Feed the body lots of veggies 3. No more sleeping around. Don't give away your energy... it sounds hippy dippy but its very true. 4. Forget yourself in the service of others. Since I've moved to South America... I've fallen in love with sharing a meal with a stranger. (It costs me like a dollar) Also finding something to keep me busy.. I absolutely love documenting others for my little channel showing how those who have nothing.. literally living in poverty yet have so much more joy then we do in 1st world countries. This has been my formula to free myself of anxiety which can be absolutely debilitating. I like your channel Myra keep it up!

Bob, anxiety is my worst enemy. I can’t control it, and it’s harder for a man to profess to a stranger that he has anxiety, I feel for myself it’s a sign of weakness. I applaud the fact that you are strong enough to do that. I am not a social animal, I’d much rather be by myself or maybe a couple other friends, but that is all. Crowds, lines, traffic jams, family gatherings, doctor’s offices are unbearable. I do have medication but it makes me too sleepy to take all the time so I often struggle through it and tough it out. I admire your ability to deal with it.

I find family gatherings/weddings almost physically painful. Last year I didn’t go to any, I felt that weak. I get that, and I feel we are slowly moving out of this freaking paradigm that man are "weak" or not a man when they show fearful. Men deserve as much to show themselves with their humaness and vulnerability as women. And as a woman I can tell you, I gladly welcome that in a man.

Affirmations were the first step in getting my anxiety down! It was so hard to stop the negative thoughts, at first just looking in the mirror and saying out loud that I love who I am would bring me to tears but it made me realize that I do have the power to be who I want to be and I can make myself the person I want to be.

I think struggling with comments and what others say about me since I was young definitely followed me until now. Although I do believe that you have to believe in yourself and love yourself, it's so hard at times when those voices in the past is louder than your own voice. But I'm thankful now that there's so much I've learned from so many people (and also you!). And I believe it's a battle till our deaths .

Hey Myra, my life story is similar to yours, plus having most of the same issues as you, most importantly the anxiety (regular and social). You seem to be ahead of the game in figuring out how to deal with anxiety. It took me until my mid 30s to get rid of my anxiety, it may sound ridiculous, but it kind of happened by accident. I wasn't smart like you and was figuring out coping strategies, I was just determined to start my own business in the field that I liked. Once I started my business it forced me to socialize daily with strangers, focus on business not myself, and it built my confidence and made me not worry about failure cause there will always be another opportunity. Within a year or so, my anxiety was gone and I didn't know why, until I started to study psychology and it gave me the answers.Your ahead of the game, your 21 and already figuring it out :)

Shout out to our boi Bob! I'm currently battling anxiety myself. Most of the points you've made are things that I've done and/or experienced several times, though allowing myself to be vulnerable with loved ones is very difficult. Feelings of shame, embarresment, arrogance, pride...basically the ego kicks in to protect myself even though it's completely against my actual wellbeing. Psychology works in bizarre ways. Anyway, keep doing what you're doing and have a nice day/night!

Funny When i tell people about my social anxiety, they usually laugh at me because i don't appear anxious to them I have learned to talk to people ...through the few friends i had...they almost forced me to talk to others, go out, try somethings i did not dare(like going out or something) However I does feel very freeing if i admit how i feel at times, even when the reactions are mixed It makes me feel better instantly Not everyone has to understand, at times it is just helpfull to admit it to "myself" somehow I think your perspective is very valuable and i'm sure it will help a lot of people Thanks for taking this brave step We may not know each-other, but i'm very proud of you

It’s scary how much I resonated with every word you spoke in this video, i see a lot of myself in you and that alone makes me feel so much less lonely with my social anxiety and introvert personality struggles. I wish for a friend like you, you’re so pretty, real, and humble and seriously a refreshing positive light in the world! Watching and listening to this video felt like a sign because I just started a new internship and I have to do virtual conferences and phone calls weekly so I’ve been feeling out of my comfort zone lately. I have a presentation on Friday and I keep convincing myself to not be nervous because it’s all done virtually via video chat, but still. I can’t help but think I’m going to stutter and stumble over my words as I always do when I know more than 2 sets of eyes are watching me. Esp while everyone else is able to speak and express themselves so eloquently. i really do have an inferiority complex like you explained and it’s the root cause of my anxiety but idk how to rid of it most times when I’m in any social or team work setting. This inferiority complex has been the bane of my existence. I’d love for you to keep posting more videos like this and thank you for lending your voice for all those struggling w social anxiety

The death nihilism thing and being upfront about my anxiety to others are both strategies that i have developed myself as-well, but never heard talked about before. It was quite stunning to hear you talk about it, especially the part about traveling as i've also been planning for a backpacking trip across Asia to expose myself to the world, its hurdles, its peoples, and its beauty; doing things along the way that i would never do back home in order to expose myself and grow as a person. Just like you. You are one of the few people who i've ever experienced speaking my own mind to me like that. Nobody else could come close to understanding that thoughts of death and exploding suns could ever be comforting, let alone a source of liberation. I've felt so lost and alone thinking nobody in the world could know the weight of my pain. I feel less lonely, knowing that another person was going through the same thing that i was at around the same age, and around the same time. Hell, just finding another person on the same path as me, ahead of me even, strengthens my resolve enough. And like a beacon, you shine the way forward, instilling in the heart of this lone sailor, the audacious calm to know that the worst of this storm is truly behind me, and that the path before me is true. So cheers! And thank you so much for making these (and thank you double for uploading, you madlad). Best of luck on your own travels

You got so many points right. Build yourself up and make yourself stronger. Learn lots of little subtle things about life by experiencing them. And, yes, realize that everybody else has struggles too. Many people hide their weaknesses and insecurities and build this rough exterior to cover up for their faults. In a way that's a cruel thing, and they're doing it because they're afraid to admit that they're weak just like everybody else. If possible, stay away from people like that, because they're being fake. You want to be with people who are real and honest. You sound like a really nice person, and you need to be with others like yourself.

Your video came about in the most perfect time. I’ve been working as a campaign canvasser knocking on doors and talking to people about issues. The first week was super stressful, but now 3 weeks in it’s gotten so much easier. Your video really opened my eyes. One day, a few hours before canvassing, I read a book that said that I have to be my best, and that my best changes throughout the day and weeks, so don’t expect the same result. But remember you did your best. At the end of the day, I felt so much better and more confident. And since that day, my anxiety has shrunken so significantly. This video made me realize it: that affirmations is the key. Bringing myself down is what gave me anxiety and low confidence. Now I need to bring myself back up. Thanks and all the best with your journey!

Bob. Bob the bug loves you too. Really good to see an update from you. It felt too long since the previous one. Listening to what you say, I can tell you've come a long way already Myra. Keep on fearing death. You are right. Anyone can be taken in the blink of an eye, and we don't have second chances to repair and be at peace with ourselves before we go. So we should always be mended and at peace, and being in that way, have no regrets. Love and hugs from UK. Feel the fear and do it anyway. X

Bob, Ah No need to apologise for the quality of your video, it is what makes your videos unique, very brave topic to chat about how you got over anxiety in life, really strikes a cord with so many viewers, you can only say how you get through it and you did that really well, low confidence is a terrible thing to suffer from, limits your development in life so much, you must be helping so many with your experiences and if you can believe in yourself at some stage, then that's a success for anyone. keep on going with your journey in life and enjoy it, hope you all the best Myra.

thank you for this. i've had terrible social anxiety since i can remember and hearing about your growth is giving me strength. the thing that you mentioned about death changing the perspective of everything is so very real. i had a similar breakthrough this year when covid hit (or was it last year?) and i realized death was so close to us even if we constantly try to ignore it. i've realized there are some things i still want to do and want to at least give them a try. best wishes

An interesting and informative video. I can definitely say I relate to the “putting yourself down” section. But, in the end, one needs to believe that their confidence is strong. Strong and sturdy enough in order to get through the goals that they so desire in life. That’s important. Bob

My tips for anxiety which helps for me: 1) People with anxiety may have a negative attitude towards problems (this/that bad thing will happen or this bad thing) and knowing that can help you remember that and stop spiralling out of control with the negativity. 2) try to see the possibilities with your problem(s) (if I do this uncomfortable thing it may lead to me e.g. feeling proud about myself for going through it). 3) write down your problems. 4) brainstorm solutions to your problem, pick one of the solutions, weigh the pros/cons/consequences 5) write down short term and long term goals to apply the solution. 6) ask yourself if the solution will lead to solving your problem. 7) if not do the same procedure with another solution otherwise start implementing your solution. 8) decide how to evaluate if your solution is working e.g. I got good grades on the tests while taking a course to get the qualifications I need to find a job. 9) Other advice: write down a problem and the threat level in %, then think about possibilities, then write a new threat level after that. 10) These advices are from my therapy sessions.
