#1 Lesson from 2019: Things Can Always Get Worse

This is what I learned from 2019. Things can always get worse, so be grateful for your life in every moment.
There are so many things we could lose.
I know it's such a long video, but I think you'll find it useful.
Also, thanks for being one of my 100 subscribers! It means a lot!

I've reached level "cynical"... Is it a long way from grateful? Or is it the opposite maybe? I think I was super greatful as a kif since I didn't know any better. I mean, I thought ducktales made my week. We only watched it on fridays, so it was a speacial day to look forward to the whole week before. Also I was really greatful for the bathhouse, NES and turtles. Now most things feels kind of "meh". I have my humor intact though. That is my best defense mechsnism I think. That and my narcissism. But since I overanalyze everything and I know narcissism isn't something to pursue I think it has grown weaker. :/ Sometimes I wonder why I'm rambling stuff like this 3:30 in the morning/night. Goodnight! Oh yeah... I almost forgot; unicorn!!!

To the barefoot man, happiness is a pair of shoes. To the man with old shoes, it's a pair of new shoes. To the man with new shoes, it's stylish shoes. You are so right, Myra! We never expect something terrible happening. Like the day I went blind in my right eye. I didn't know that glaucoma could cause the retina to separate from the optic nerve causing blindness. Fortunately, my left eye is still working but I needed an eye operation to prevent total loss of sight in that eye. The operation went well and I am very "thankful" that I can still see.

The guys at my gun range are really cool. He should take up shooting. It's something that can bring people together that doesn't require you to be an athletic person (let's face it, the jocks at school always have friends) and the shooting community online is really supportive. Not everyone is into hunting, but shooting doesn't need to be taken out of the controlled environment of a gun range if you only shoot targets, so maximum safety. All that aside, finding a hobby that gets you out of the house is the key. When you stop thinking about life as a competition and don't allow yourself to be consumed by what others may or may not be thinking about you, making friends is easy.

1 Lesson from 2019: Things can always get worse. 2020: You goddamn right. Edit: i just finished watching the whole video. please excuse my original silly comment. I just wanted to say that if we accept the fact that this life is just a series of constant struggles and hardships, it makes facing it so much easier, at least mentally. People waste their lives chasing their desires, looking for their next high. When in reality the only way to truly find happiness is accept what life throws at us, both the good and the bad. The more we give, the happier we'll be. I hope you have a wonderful day :) ... oh, and one last thing "Unicorn"

Hope she is managing to self-isolate as social-distancing is not happening over there as well as across the country. The number of cases and deaths will surely rise from what's happening right now. I feel for our first responders and those working on the front-lines as they must realise they will be overwhelmed once all these people fall ill with Covid-19. 😟

The year 1994, I had a major life event to deal with every month of that year. Some events were good...but still challenging. Death, sickness, hospitalization, sale of my home, teenager problems, divorce, new relationships, had to euthanize my beloved dog, daughter went to college....to name a few. So whew, lived through all of that with God's guidance and grace one day at a time. Then, came 2011. Age 61. Lost my job. Had severe stomach problems. Came to the end of my savings. Had to live with a sister for a year. Had to live in a group home for women for 6 months. Yes, when challenging times are upon us we need to be grateful...because....it can always get worse. Praise God! He is always there to guide us through.

Hey girl. Idk why KZread recommended your “i don’t have friends” video to me lol but now im watching your channel. Sis this is the best time to realize that you’re at ground zero. Only way you can go is up. You’ve gotta leave where you are. Ok Dallas wasn’t it but maybe go to coastal states, like NY. You can rent a room for cheap and get a social job. You don’t need a car bc there’s the subway. Social interaction happens everyday to the point where you’re tired of talking to ppl and want them to leave you alone lol the southern and middle America states isn’t what you need!! Also you’re a strong person and that’s admirable. You’ve got over 10K followers. Get consistent with making videos bc you can make great cash on this platform. God bless & Unicorn🦄

In college, I dated a girl that was from a family with like 5 or 7 homeschooled siblings. She really struggled to find her place. Her footing always seemed so tenuous. It was difficult to relate and to watch. Great you have an outlet here. Now that I am older, have no friends, and seem to have tenuous footing myself, I see her struggles back then, in a now totally different light. I wish I could reach back to then, tell her about you (so very similar), and also be much more understanding and empathetic than I was at that time. And Unicorn.

Idk if I was taught this or if it was just 'in' me, but I always feel lucky. When I see a car wreck, or a LifeFight helicopter or an ambulance heading for the hospital I think "Wow somebody's having a way worse day than I am, and so are their family". When I see a homeless guy at an intersection begging for $$, I remember that I can eat when and what I want to. A housefire, a hurricane, a child with cancer, all make me realize I'm so blessed. And in the past 8 months, even a restaurant or pub going out of business (and there've been a huge number here) breaks my heart - not just the owner, but the servers, cooks, busboys, as well as the suppliers of food, bevs, uniforms, AND even the landlord, are ALL affected in a negative way - and the families of all those people too. And that's just one segment of the economy. SO many people are truly hurting now. But I'm ok, and now I'm trying to help by giving to our local foodbanks and charities. The holidays is going to be tough for SO many people. I've got a lot of catching up to do on your videos, and hope you're ok Myra. Be careful & be well.

Getting my ex a new (used) car because her other one was done. Needing to earn more than ever while sinking into a depression. Not being able to face the fact that I was depressed. If there is an upside to being completely mentally broken down, it’s that I had an opportunity to grasp the core of who I really am and build back up from there. And get rid of a lot of 💩 I was carrying at the same time. So, I just wanted to tell you it helps so much to hear you talk about your experiences, it can hit someone who feels alone at just the right time. I very much hope that you are doing well and please post a life update ❤️🦄

I remind myself of gratitude almost daily, but the way you put it, brought it into another whole new light. Thank you. ♥️ I do know that we are going through life having lots of experiences. Hi Myra, you have a good head on your shoulders. Your insights on gratitude despite various challenges living independently show a level of maturity beyond your age. I had cancer, had a kidney & gall bladder removed, was on a feeding machine for a year and a half, as well as having pain everyday. When people ask if I'm ok, I say yes (even though I may not always feel great) because I know that other people in the world have it worse than me somehow, so I'm grateful no matter what. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us ☺️ Btw, Licorne 🦄

I left home, I didn't go to college and I had no friends at work. I tried meeting people online. Thankfully I did have a few church friends but at the time there was no one who understood the situation I was coming out of. Nobody understood what I was dealing with.

I thought my life was always going to be at home and I was content with that. Until I learned how to swim and that I like giving life a shot and then I realized that there is more to life and I am now extroverted .

Unicorn. I am sorry to hear you had a tough year in 2019, but I am also glad to see that you are now moving on to a more positive path and that is of gratitude. Keeping a gratitude journal has changed my life to the better. I would definitely recommend you getting a notebook and write one page of things you are grateful for, from really small to bigger. Doing this daily it will change your perspective to life. If you have time to read a children's book that I really love is called Pollyanna (it's a classic and I cannot recommend it enough). Pollyanna is playing the Glad Game and she is teaching everyone how to play it (finding something to be glad about in every situation). Give her a try, and I am sure you will love her! Finally, I watched your other video about No friends, and I was thinking about what your hobbies are. Just start a hobby, something that you love doing, and from then on you will attract people around you that you share similar interests. This is a great way to make friends. You normally get friends people you share similar interest with. :) and of course, just always be yourself. I wish you all the best on your self discovery journey! It's not always easy, but it's very rewarding! Take care and stay safe. Maria x

Life is cyclic, ups and down cycles. Some are very high ups and some are very deep lows but what I am trying to say is it always gets better, just be prepared for the next down turn, it will happen, learn from it, move on and enjoy the next upswing. Don't stress about things beyond your control, the things you can control will minimize the emotional trauma of your bad times. even if you only save $10 out of every paycheck, put it back just in case. That reserve will grow and eventually be enough padding to get you through.

To me is still surprising that someone like you didn’t make friends for so many years you look very interesting to talk or share thoughts with, maybe is me because I’m still learning English and is somehow implied in it wanting to talk with people, but I’m sure in other circumstances you would have gotten a lot of friends, and I hope you the best, If life is roller coaster will not always go down even though time to time it’ll do, maybe not in 2020 (you know, the pandemic doesn’t help exactly) but surely a lot of good things must be waiting for you in the Future Btw I didn’t commented the las time so ¡Pizza Unicorn!… Hmm… My English… can still be in WiP but I know that that word combination is not exactly good, at least for the Unicorn, so better don’t take it literally, have a nice day, and I hope don’t bother you but I sent a request to the group. UNICORN... Yeah I'm one of your followers and I have to say that you're right about that people should be more grateful for what we have and don't take everything for granted, because of your video you made me think about it and I already am grateful for everything that I have to the point that it annoys some people but they are just jealous that either they don't have what I have or that they can't be as grateful and value the things they have in life as I do, whatever it is I don't let their negativity rub off into my life, it's not my problem it's theirs and they can't stand it that I don't care. Pretty funny really as I'm thinking about it but I just want to say thanks for sharing this video, I really appreciate it. I wish you have a great day.

some tips I would like to give: don't think too much about your past and what you can lose don't let that slow you in any way. You're what 21-22 nothing is too late. Find meaning. You can still go to university and not be behind if you dedicate yourself to anything that is truly meaningful you are gonna be happy(not that happiness and friends are important IMO they are byproduct). Look at your core value and ask yourself if its the best one.

Unicorn - I came from your other video “I have no friends” and I can relate with a few things that you said in both videos. I’m a firm believer that “things happen for a reason”, and that things seem to sometimes get worse. But those bad times are there to show you the good times in life, otherwise there would be no good without bad. I believe that all around the world there are people with the same or similar feelings but are in different stages of there lives; but a lot of us don’t know about this because it isn’t spoken about and it makes us feel like we’re alone. But things do get better, it just takes time! Myra, life seems like it has given you a shitty start but you have a long life ahead of you that can be so much better; you just have to keep on going and show it who’s boss! I know the future will be much better for you! (And for whoever is reading this) -from a friend across the pond in the UK - A quote that may help somebody - “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is gunna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” - Rocky Balboa
