Jerry Brainum answers: which protein source is superior for losing fat and retaining muscle - chicken or fish?
While bodybuilders spend a significant amount of time trying to bulk up and build muscle - they also go through a cutting phase leading into a competition. The goal of this is to cut out as much fat as possible without burning away muscle. It's not possible to avoid burning muscle completely of course, which is part of the skill and tactics that go into being a successful bodybuilder. During the cutting phase, protein still needs to remain constant. Which brings up the question - which is the superior protein to eat during cutting?     I just eat what tastes good and is available to me, don't care about the fats. I usually eat 2-3 whole eggs per day 1-2 times a week red meat 3-4 times a week chicken or turkey 5-6 times a week fish (cod, sole, tuna) Once a week Sardines (need some work to make it taste good) Rarely Salmon (If I can find it on a reasonable price)

    Depends on what your body needs. If you don’t have a balanced diet it can create complications. Fat carbs and protein can all be good or bad depending on balance and amount

    except that bodybuilders are not eating 3oz portions of chicken or fish. Most would be eating 6-10oz per serving. In addition, when having it for 3-4 meals per day it's VERY consequential!!

    You should make distinction about which vitimin D you're talking about, 1 2 or 3? Same goes for selenium. There is two of these L selenium reacts differently to humans.

    Wild salmon, not farmed, it's full of crap. Chicken, even free range are about 42 days old, and can hardly stand up, full of antibiotics. Chickens take 5 months to become fully grown 🐔

    Red meat especially high consumption is associated with higher rates of colorectal cancer and polyp formation.

    I disagree with you 100% that you should eat the entire egg. One egg has 1.6 grams of saturated fat. This means that if I eat 20 eggs, I just consumed 32 grams of saturated fat. In addition, egg white from one egg contains 4 grams of the best protein you can get. You stated that all the nutrients are in the yolk. Bodybuilders don't need those nutrients, as they can easily be obtained from other sources. I cannot believe that you even made such a statement that anyone that throws out the yolk doesn't know anything about nutrition. This is absurd!
