Welcome to my NON MasterClass for beginner break makers like myself! Today I'm showing how to make this simple instant yeast white bread for sandwiches and a bonus recipe....a brown sugar swirl bread. I'm going to explain how to freeze part of the dough for baking later, and I'll also show what I've found to be the best way for storing fresh homemade bread.
I know that I'll be asked about a few things I've used in this video, so I will link them here for you:

@@marilynheywood7699yes, Lisa says so right in the video. She uses 4 Tbsp honey (for 2 loaves), so 2 Tbsp of sugar would make it plenty sweet. It feeds the yeast..not that you have to use any. The yeast will still grow. So use however much you want. 1 tsp per loaf will feed the yeast.

Just a tip I have learned is to mix all of my dry ingredients at the same time. When you are not proofing your yeast, salt will not kill your instant yeast. Keep up the good work and be blesses.

And because you explained it so well as to how it is done I think that I'll give it a try. And you explained everything so well how to make and bake bread that any beginner should be able to do it. Bread flour makes a slightly denser and chewy bread, but there is almost no difference. Buy whichever is cheaper. 😁 If you don’t have time to mix, raise and bake the bread in one evening, you can mix and knead your bread, then put it in a greased gallon size ziplock bag in the fridge overnight. When you have time, get the bread out of the fridge, shape it and put it in the greased pans. Let it rise (it might take a little longer) then cook as usual. I never add salt to my bread because I’m on a low-salt diet. Salt doesn’t make much difference for the home bread maker, more for the industrial bakery that use dough conditioners and big proofing ovens. You did a great job, Lisa! The only thing I would add is if you let the machine do the kneading, set the speed to low. ❤ From a long-time homemade bread baker. I enjoy cooking videos as much as quilting videos!

I worked in a bakery...did it all. You got it together. Our proofing method (for rising the dough) is slightly different. I'm only suggesting this as a possibility to decrease distortion. We'd make the dough, grease lg sheet and put it in a proof. Basically you did that by putting in oven with mug of water. After allowing to double in size, we'd fold it into itself and let rise again. Watch closely didn't want to over proof it,bc it had to get worked again later. At this point dough would get dumped to butcher block, the dough would get cut and weighted to a specific amount for each loaf. I think 18 oz. maybe suited to your pan size. Once dough was cut it would get formed tightly in a ball, set to rise again but on the butcher block and covered with a towel. It was left to rise again , just slightly by poke of finger test. At that point it would get worked through a sheeter. But using a rolling pin is the same. You want it thin, and you try to keep it long like you did in the video and narrow to the width of your pan. Then you roll, but start with a small roll over and keep rolling to end. Flip over, pinch seam , and tuck ends under. Then place in your greased pan, seam down. Let it rise again like you did. Then bake. Any left over white dough can get cut into 2 oz. pieces, make into a ball, put into a sq pan shape, for dinner rolls. Or add shredded cheddar cheese,( start with 4-6 oz, then adjust) at the end of make your dough for cheesy bread. Also using 3 oz of dough, shape into a log shape, brush with melted butter and sprinkle crazy salt on them. 4oz. of bread dough is the size to make individual breads. Have fun. You do well.

So I have a question then… Does the bread taste different based on where you bake it? Like does it taste better because it’s baked in an oven or like Lisa did in an air fryer or like I have thought about getting a bread machine because it does all the work, then bakes it. So you let the bread machine do all the work and then you take it out of the machine and bake it it in another machine? I’m just wondering if a traditional oven changes the flavor? Sorry if this question sounds dumb. I’m just a beginner and want to understand and get the best flavor.😂😂😂

@@jmeyer81971 I know that you get a much bigger loaf letting it rise in the oven, also you don’t get the hole in the bottom of your bread where the blade is for mixing. I also believe you get a bit thicker crust baked in the machine as well. Rising and baked in the oven will be a lighter bread better it has more room for rising. I would say tastes better in the oven. I hope this helps 😊

My aunt was know far and wide for her homemade cinnamon rolls. I laughed when you said “not much butter”, because she like my hubby says “butter is our friend and you can never have too much!” lol. That bread looks awesome!

I think you’re just as much of an expert as any of the rest of us. I made bread with my mom since I was a kid and to me she was an expert.

Lisa, you are making me hungry! Your bread looks so good, I'll definitely be trying your recipe. Found a recipe on internet a few years ago that remind me of the rolls made in school cafeteria. Interesting how you store your fresh bread; love your bread tin/box😊

Hello Lisa, I've come across your channel and am quite delighted to have found you. I've been making bread for 30 odd years and I love the tips that you gave us. The little parchment handles and oil the board and hands instead of using excess flour. Absolutely brilliant! I'm definitely going to be trying this soon! TYFS 🤗

I am also definitely going to find that bread slicer! Thank you for sharing this with us, you are such a sweet person!!❤❤❤

@lisacapenquilts you do a fine job kneading. There’s no right or wrong way. I made bread for my family for 7 years when I was a stay at home mom. It was great and the kids loved it too. I want to get back to that again, starting this summer.
