@@EverydayWithBobbysome people (like that guy) are so insane that they trick themselves into believing a complete lie. Now they know it never happened but they live the lie so long they force their own brain to attach emotion to the lie as if it did happen. Gotta remember, for a person to do something so dumb and awful as to lie about being a SEAL (and who knows what else) to their wife and friends, these are not rationally thinking people. They have issues. It’s not making excuses for them, saying that doesn’t make it any less despicable. If anything it makes it worse because they aren’t just telling a white lie they’re living the lie.

I totally agree, I lost three great uncles in the First World War, they were 18,19 and twenty, one uncle was blown up in Portsmouth harbour, he never left England, they were loading ammunition on to the HMS BULLWARK and it went wrong and blew up killing hundreds of young sailors as two warships were tied together, one died in the fields at Gallipoli and my uncle Len who was awarded the military medal, I think it’s about the equivalent of the silver star, he was killed in France charging a German trench, he had already taken out one machine gun crew of two, when the Jerry’s hit him with a shell, I’ve never served but am so proud of those that did, this guy would get a knock on the door if he lived in England, disgrace of a man.

I hold those that go into special warfare units in the highest regards, and can understand the allure of people wanting to live the life they imagine them to live, but no one ever SV claims to be a cook, a mechanic, a simple infantryman, etc. They always go for the SF groups not realizing how tight knit and exclusive the membership in those units is. Instead of people SV'ing with EOD, SEAL, Sniper, Pathfinder, or any other specialist unit, how about they use mail clerk, cook, basic infantry, military police, etc to embellish their pathetic lives.

I had a good friend, here in Wilmington, NC. His first name is Dave. He presented himself as a Seal. He was legitimately a former Navy Captain. A lot of things he said just didn't add up. Couldn't talk about it, couldn't tell me one specific, had the paraphenalia. Don helped get me his service record. Not a Seal. Had his wife fooled all those years. The weird thing is that he was a decorated Navy officer including Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, etc. Was a commanding officer. Yet he lied about being a Seal. Why, with those achievements? I don''t get it. I dumped him as a friend.

Army, or any branch of the military, is not a shortcut to anything, but IS the purpose itself. Annihilating enemies of your country, weakening their ability to achieve destructive aims on your soil - that's the purpose and the glory, believe it or not...People who went through real stuff don't usually tell their experiences to others because those who don't know THAT reality won't be able to even correctly comprehend the situation that person went through...and why would you want to retell your sacred expereinces to clueless people, who won't even be able to relate to it due to their lack of any point of reference. You want people who were never scared to appreciate bravery? They don't know what bravery is! You want blonde chicks with 3.5 cartoons of cultural background to appreciate things that are waaaay beyond their comprehension level. Only a soldier will understand a soldier. imho Wishing you all the best, fellow American servicemen. Your IDF ally
