I really don't think there is any recovery for the area until some actual industry moves back there. Any city needs commerce to thrive and if everyone is broke, or works elsewhere, then there is no lifeblood to get a place on its feet again. I have said it several times on your channel now, that, in what feels like the blink of an eye, Stoke has gone from quite a friendly place that was a bit run down to a drug and immigrant plagued 'mare. The Religion of Peace settling in is the sure sign that its game over, sad to say because that means complete cultural replacement is in progress. So even if we did get industry back there will be no recapturing of that period where Stoke was the city that felt like a town.

I struggled in parts - like The Place completely gone. Sad to see what Stoke has become. Was never a pretty place but it was alive. Yates had the best grilled chicken baguette in Stoke back in the day! I moved to Japan years ago but still like tuning into see what’s happening, keep up the good work and get the message out to the local council - they will surely say it’s about funding but thats bullshit, it’s more likely about their mismanagement of the funding they had.

  • @DJMtv1938

Wow Japan!!! You see it just absolutely amazes me to see where us stoke folks end up laying are hat. This is why I enjoy doing these videos 1 for people like yourself. 2 for folks who cannot get out and about and who would most definitely not wander into some of the places i go. And 3 for future generations to look back on in hopefully better days to see where they have come from. I would love to see more videos of stoke in 60s 70s and 80s but we simply did not have the tools back then like now so I think it’s so important to document as much as we can. And finally i hope these videos shame the council and all of them who have played there part in the demise of this city.

When I see videos of the potteries it makes me feel sad of the state it is in today. I spent the first 60 years of my life living and working in the potteries. On retirement we moved to North Wales. Most weeks we went up Hanley duck. I worked in Castle. Looking at Hanley, coffee shops we went to closed, Marks, BHS gone Webberlys gone, even Yates gone, surprised Cineworld still open. Was wondering what the Potteries centre and market are like today. Debenhams must have been a big blow. I would like to see a video on what is good, there must be something

It's really sad to see this video. I used to work in Hanley in the late 70s to the early 90s and I loved Hanley. Bratt and Dyke, Huntbach, Lewis's to name a few. Alongside the Heavy Steam Machine, Bailey's nightclub... All gone now including the place that I worked, Century Oils 😭. Saddens me to see Hanley like this but I have not been to Hanley for about 25 years. Although I still live in Stoke on Trent.

It needs the property owners and council to give businesses a helping hand. A store paying half the rental value is better than nothing and lets face it busineeses pay stupid high rates for basically no services from the council. So let's give them a rates break for a year or two

Yes we use to have five church's...CofE type dominions...ya know the type we were familiar with from school. However they've all been replaced by one mosque. Though it should be said it's five times the size of anyone of the previous...so fair swap 😂. You gotta laugh as its to that point now of no return. No onus on industry or housing...but the government is loving changing our gene pool and causing civil disharmony in process. Great videos 👍...even if depressing. Hey but that ain't your fault...you're just reporting how it is. You noticed another common thread. Our shit holes always have traffic. It's like they've all become baron drive throughs for those in fancy cars to go to their pen pushing jobs. No one one driving in our shit houses live anywhere near.
