I've had that experience Many times and all over the world. When I joined the army in the early 60's, we were in a 20 man Nissen hut and of course everyone asks everyone else where they're from. When I said I was from the potteries only one knew where it was, and he said that it was a filthy hole, but at least in those days people had a job. Either Pots, Pits or Steelworks. Now Stoke has been asset stripped by the big boys and the work has gone to Indonesia or China. @@DJMtv1938

Thier is a lot of inner politics going in in the city which explains why stoke is in the situation it is in let me explain. Thier is a lot of large private sector businesses that are in effect large landlords. IE over 500 properties per landlord. They are buying up cheap run down commercial properties at a fraction of the value of they were flats accommodation after works being done in them . They are buying them up then putting in planning applications in for accommodation when they know full well they would get it due the criteria. So they simply let the place run down and in many occasions proactively dump rubbish in Thier own property to gain more reason to the council to over turn the unsuccessful application. Second remember if rubbish or eye sores are on private land the council have very limited powers it takes them forever to go through the courts at great expense to enforce the rubbish etc on private land. The rubbish you see in the alley ways may surprise you in majority of occasions when the council have investigated are from people who live in the properties which are mainly now rented multiple occupancy or wait for it predominantly from the Asian community who kive in the no multiple occupancy houses. The council are aware of this via going through the rubbish and seeing baks etc with address next ti the rubbish from the property next to it and cameras that are positioned overlooking many alley ways. Question is why is the council not acting. Are you ready for the truth bomb. Because in the vast majority of the areas above the elected councillors are if Asian descent and ate not interesting in going again residents with similar religious briefs are they need Thier votes. Further more this has encouraged more tipping then the result is the cllr gets the council to remove the rubbish for free like a satellite tip at the expense of all other tax payers who are law abiding and dispose of Thier rubbish at the local tips. Further. The council officers IE the management of waste environment health are unlikely to speak up to the press or the elected councillors in fear of losing Thier nice safe jobs and salary and pension. A recent freedom of information request found that desoite Thier being a larger Asian community in stoke only 2 percent of the Asian community used the local tips in the last 12 months they are the councils figures not mine . So the problems in the city are big and it's going to need outspoken people like myself to move it forward but the reality is local people have lost interest. I like you videos my friend but your very naive if you think the council dont know about the rubbish in the areas you have been too. The question you need to ask is why they are still like that year after year and that will take critical thinking and epistemology skills

Do you know of all the comments on here you have absolutely hit the nail square on the head👍 I do know of a Asian councillor who was encouraging his community to dump there rubbish in the areas that were been targeted in the council crackdown on fly tipping. However I can’t name and shame because my proof is not solid.

As a fellow Stokie I can relate to all your stories and think it’s terrible how Stoke’s become. I do what you do but without filming , only yesterday up Hanley duck was rife with dust heads all acting very strange ! Almost like they’re on a mission to rush off but only round the next corner. We’re finished mate in pot herb land.

Tonight, is Halloween, in beautiful, picturesque Perth Australia, I was thinking to watch a horror movie or something Grimey ,Then after watching this video on the outskirts of Stoke I've seen enough horror for a week i kid you not. I have concluded that Stoke is not only a complete and utter shithole it would make a suitable place to shoot a war movie with all the derelict buildings and litter. Keep them coming, if i was there i would of joined you .Youre doing a great job i feel your pain because i felt it walking those depressing streets day in day out for months .It has had a lasting effect on me.I appreciate everywhere now because everything looks way better than Stoke .The only thing i liked about Stoke On Trent was on the way out of there in the car's rear view mirror.

Ah mattresses. As someone who just taken a volunteer role in a charity shop, I know there's a lot of mattresses in the world. But these days, mattresses will only be taken by charities / furniture clearance if they're, shall we say, unblemished. The rest will just get dumped - one way or another. I think something has to be done re : mattress manufacture to make them easier to dispose of / recycle. I see at the end you were cycling through Cliffe Vale. I remember going through it many times past the Armitage Shanks factory. From toilets to a shithole in 35 years. Sad, really.

6:20 - These grand old houses are the saddest of all for me. Built with skiil, to look nice and be family homes. I can just imagine the people who lived there, and did so with pride. The windows would be clean and the step scrubbed. Goobye whoever you were, you are very much missed. To be honest much of the city just needs bullozing and replacing with grass and trees. It would be a lot cheaper to run, and look a lot nicer. A.

Yet again watching this makes me die a little inside because I know the areas you are moving through. Back in my student days during the early 80's, the place was a bit run down (un-modernised is probably the best way to describe it) but the folk living there were a mix of old Stokies and a few students and it was fine. A bit rougher than some places but nothing bad. Now look at it :(

7:28 Looks like the Gaza Strip. Just need some Roosters crowing and a few ragged palm trees, you would genuinely think you were in Gaza 🐓 10:47 Some of my grandparents used to live in Stoke the Northern part of Dump-on-Trent. Not long after they passed away some kindly individual spread shit across there front door and the neighbours doors. Some people around here are just pure evil and have no thought, respect or consideration for anything or anyone. Its totally disheartening and makes living in this dreadfull place just feel even worse. I really do hope this useless council become bankrupt, means there will be an investigation to see where taxpayers money gets wasted on this dump. May also mean a fresh start and new beginning for this city.
