I have a feeling her husband is a big part of the equation. If he's not even involving himself with the financial side, he could be spending god knows how much money without her even knowing about it. Marriage is a partnership, and that means both parties have to take equal responsibility to make that household function. I hope her and her husband can sort this mess out together.

Does Sam have enough money for these items?" We had to add up the price of each item on a price list without the use of a calculator and use some simple deductive reasoning to decipher whether or not Sam had enough money for all those items. Maybe all of our 4th grade education has been lost.

My Wife works for an electric/gas Utility in Billing, and it's amazing to learn how many people think that having electric and gas service should be free. It's often the last thing paid when things get tight, that includes after the new car they can't afford and the $800.00 dollar outdoor smoker grill. Ever wonder sometimes why your utilities bill is so high, some of that is because of the amount they have to write off every year which the amount would shock some people.

I filed for bankruptcy in 2007, I also married my husband. We have a monthly income of $4,100 we still owe $59,300 on our home which we bought for $110,000 in 2011. At the same time we had 3 kids, and I paid off my $14,082 in Student Loans. We currently have $4,700 in credit card debt. I'm now on Step#2. I was over my head as I co-signed for a $30,000 Lexus for a boyfriend and I had over $25,000 in credit card debt.

This woman needs to get a clue. Seems like she hasn't learned a thing from the book or from financial peace. Why would she get herself a credit card after filing bankruptcy? They need some couples counseling first and foremost. They should have more than enough money to live.

Gary Host they live in Detroit, they can be had really cheap. $50,000 per year after taxes is at least $3,000 per month!! With no mortgage a car payment and food couldn’t possibly be more than $1500.

If she’s Bringing in 2500 a month she’s only making 30,000 a year (and that maybe before taxes) That’s far off from 50,000. Step one she needs to know how much she’s making

Dave seems shocked that she's in debt while owning her home. My house cost about 6,000 in Detroit (see did some renovations, but it was livable at least). I know a ton of broke homeowners. Its cheaper to buy than to rent here

The people that judge. Jeez. 50k is squat after taxes for a family of 4!!!!! and in Detroit, where i'm from, I'm not surprised the light /gas bill is high because the local energy company sends inaccurate bills. Sent me one, where I paid in full every month and they said the payments weren't being distributed properly and sent me a $400 bill! any who, and the car insurance is up the a$$ in Detroit. $300 a month for a 10 year old car.

Jennifer Aviles I understand where one would think she’s miss managing money but after taxes and for a family that size it’s not much. I teach money management workshops and do financial coaching where I help people create budgets. There are many people in Detroit without a mortgage as you can cash out property for as little as $5k. They still aren’t able to stack cash depending on the circumstances. People will judge if they aren’t in the situation to know first hand someone’s situation detail for details. I wish she’d call me. I think I can assist ☺️
