my kids were watching the barbie movie this past weekend and I giggled at the long speech given to snap the barbies out of being all about Ken. I feel like everyone is turning from the body positivity movements and calling it dumb and being supportive of obesity. I hear ppl completely bashing GLP1s (just all this week in things I watch). And this will be within 1 interview. So... it's not supported to be obese but it's also not supported to be on meds to aid in it? it's just annoying and 1 Dr kept saying his prescription is for people to just go work out more 😂 I used to work out (before my autoimmune diagnosis) every single day after work. And it got me about 20 lbs lost and that was it. Then once I stopped doing it every single day - it all came back. I was still working out 3 days. Didn't matter, it all came back anyway. To me it is like people think Everyone's body works exactly the same. So therefore if they aren't overweight other people should not be either.

After 5 months of jumping through hoops to get gastric bypass, my insurance denied the surgery. I’m starting compounded tirzepatide next week.

FYI for others, from my own experience with Emerge (so far, great!) know that they do use specific pharmacies for specific regions. I'm in New England, and was told I could not specifically request my compound from Empower, and that for my state it would come from Hallandale.

I was hoping to use Empower, but they told me they cannot pick a specific pharmacy and that for patients in my state they use Hallandale. I've been on Zepbound 5mg the last few months, can't find 7.5 anywhere (or any other dose) so I'm going with Emerge for a while during this crazy shortage.

Most the "complaints" I see are about shipping and I think they didn't realize the meds were inside an ice pack bc I saw now they put a sticker that says "do not throw away meds inside" lol

That's great! I'm much slower than most bc 2 to 2.5 weeks of my month is spent losing what I gain from my autoimmune treatments 😬

I tried contrave and only lasted two days because I couldn’t handle the nausea. I’m on Zepbound now and have had zero to minimal nausea. I know they’re different meds, but I just wanted to mention that. Before Zepbound I was on phentermine and Topiramate, and I was successful in weight loss (lost 27 lbs) but hit a plateau. I did not want to increase to a higher dosage, so I requested to start something new…hence, Zepbound. 😊

I was on Topiramate (Topomax) for years for Migraines. I don't think I knew it worked for weightloss. Also kinda wondering if that's why I don't need these drugs now :/

You’re welcome! Least I can do with all the help/information you provide in your videos. Yes, topomax is primarily used for migraines! Qsymia is made up of phentermine and topomax, but my insurance didn’t cover it and it’s expensive, so my Dr prescribed it separately so that it was affordable. If Zepbound is too much trouble to continue to attain due to the shortages, I may request to go back to P and T, and hopefully it’ll work again after a break and with my diet changes and exercise I’ve added.

Hey Jen don’t be hard on yourself. You are doing great. Remember slow is better it will stay off longer. Great research as usual. My scale moved down this week. So happy for that. I am titrating up this Sunday to 10 wish me luck.

Yes, it looks like I'll be stuck at 2.5 mg for Zepbound until the 5 mg is not listed as in shortage anymore which is not ideal. But yes my GI Dr said she prefers slow loss than quick

People are “judgey” and concerned when someone takes these peptides, yet they can careless if you’re on a HBP or high cholesterol med daily for the rest of your life. It’s really a lack of understanding and education re: these peptides. They don’t realize that by taking these can get you off the other meds that just mask the side effects of obesity. Which can be deadly (ie heart attack, stroke)

I go on Fri for my annual exam. So I will go over my lab results next week with everyone and see what my cholesterol, a1c, everything is doing! But yes I said to someone... no one cares what autoimmune injection I'm taking so why so worked up over this? to me this is like taking the metformin and no one cared I was having to do that for insulin resistance 🤷🏼‍♀️

Were you on linzess 145 mg before starting injections as well? Basically *my GI Dr* told me that she understands that it is slowing everything down and her concern was when I move back up to 5 mg + that it will get worse again. She told me I can always half the 290 mg or take every other day if it is too much. I have only been taking it 2 days now, but I finally had a BM today. So that seems promising. I also got my magnesium tablets back into my normal routine too though. and I've been walking after each meal to try and stimulate movement 😅 But I will make sure to cover in future weeks how the linzess is doing. I did not do well with trulance.

You're allergic to B vitamins? Are you speaking specifically of synthetic additives in the peptide? I wonder if they are using Cobalamin or Methylcobalamin, the latter being far superior in absorption.

It depends on which service/platform. A lot of the ones I looked up does not share which pharmacy they fill from. And also they rotate so it may be from somewhere different each time. The last one I reviewed, No. That was via amble. They did not communicate where it was going to be coming from it just showed up. With emerge Yes, you can request which one. Bc I discussed with them how I found the b vitamin additives in 2 of the 3 they prescribe too, so I would only be able to order from the 1 without any additives. That is probably one of my biggest issues with a lot of the platforms - they won't state where your compound will 100% be coming from before you enroll and pay them. So with emerge they have no platform or clinical fees etc. which was another reason I felt people would like that option.

Look into 503A pharmacies that are at minimum also a 503b outsourcer and get a script for compounded Tirzepatide or compounded Semaglutide edit: Olympia Pharmaceuticals (Olympia Pharmacy) or Empower Pharmacy are 2 that come to mind. Your doctor or another medical provider that you trust can write a prescription for you directly to one of them.

@shopece8807 None of my providers I see will write to compounders. But yes Empower is via Emerge but bc they also compound with B vitamins I cannot take that. I have allergic reactions to B vitamins

I received a message from Emerge saying that they are unable to accept patients that are being treated for Diabetes. For example if you have been taking something like Metformin for diabetes.

@@KetosisMom Not that I know of, I have prior authorization for a year. I'm not sure if my insurance company will ask for updated test results, but if they drop me I'm just going to gain the weight back... I do have other comorbidities so I guess they could approve Zepbound.

I don't tell anyone that I'm taking these drugs because if I fail I don't have to feel the shame. As it is I am 3 months out 2 months on 2.5 and one month of 5 of Zepbound and I have lost nothing. My doctor says I need the higher dose, but I can't get find it anywhere and I don't have hours per day to call all the pharmacies. My pharmacy hasn't had it in over 6 weeks. So, now i'm glad I didn't tell anyone because I can't get it and will now have to stay fat until Lilly gets their act together. I can't do the compound I don't have $400 per month to spend on compounds. 😖😓 Angry at my doctor for getting my hopes up and putting me on a drug that is in shortage.

I too felt like I would be on 7.5 mg right now and kinda hang there if working. I was supposed to have moved up to that and then no one could find it. I will say the WW Clinic offers to make calls for me, but I'm typeA personality and want to do things myself to make sure all bases are covered and I know it got done. But I do see lots of people finding it through their care team with WW Clinic. I'm not sure who your insurance provider is... BUT Caremark told me that they could help me find it if I need them to as well. Bc they can see member charges coming in and what the location is. You may want to try calling your PBM and ask them to help you locate it. I'm kinda surprised they have not pushed these for weightloss (not diabetic side) over to specialty mail order only. I feel like the compounds are also overpriced. *from pharmacies making them with FDA API approved ingredients* Personally I think that in a shortage FDA should require the pricing to match lowest price available. i.e. everyone would pay $25 regardless I feel like the compounds are a huge racket of platforms/providers/pharmacies trying to make as much money as they can off people

I think they are released in other countries but I know the last few inspections by the fda for vials in the US did not go so well so I don't think they are allowed to release within the US for those reasons. I doubt they would stop to make the necessary changes required by the FDA to "maybe" get an ok ok the vials. But I could be wrong. Multiple ppl have commented that their last shipment was in vials but they did not put what their location was either. I'm personally more interested in the new pills that work with osteoarthritis, muscle loss AND weightloss. I'll take those faster over vials!

The shortage definitely got worse after the special.

I didn't realize Kelly had been telling people that she was only eating high protein and exercising when she and whoppi sat down and very nonchalant she says "me too!" when Whoopi said she was on injections. When I watched it I thought "why do you care if ppl think it's ozempic?" bc she kept saying it's NOT what people think it's something else. And then my mom told me oh gosh no she's been telling ppl all along she wasn't on ANYTHING. I myself knew if I didn't just come out of the gate and show ppl that follow me for keto stuff that hey I've tried it all and none of it worked so now I'm going to try this... that I would have a LOT of backlash too. But I don't really get why. No one cares what meds I'm on so I can have BM, or what I'm taking for my autoimmune LOL but they outrage over weight injections that literally help people's bodies process food and sugar like it should. the lady I showed 1st on the special went off for days about oprah and WW sending a msg that people who are bigger should be on these instead of just accepting who they are. I think I look at it more clinically. Where I feel people who NEED to lose weight bc they are setting themselves up for disease, heart attacks, stroke... they NEED these drugs to help their body function properly. Is the backlash for people who don't really "need it"? no. it's just in general. So you're wrong if you're overweight and you're wrong if you try and do something about it that is not just diet and exercise ... 🤔

This was asked for by multiple audience members after I showed one I received weeks ago from a platform that never even checked anything about me and it just showed up at my door. I was showing how easy it is for ppl to obtain these however NOT know anything about what it is they are actually getting. The platform never told me where it was coming from and to this day it still shows "at the pharmacy". After I looked up inspections, license, import API supplier 411, and patient reviews. No I never used what they sent me and I never will. The past few videos have been about looking up and researching what you ARE getting. so you know what you're putting in your body. So I'm not sure why showing ppl how to look things up, and providing research FOR THEM to review would be hypocritical. I also found a platform with no additional fees bc ppl did not like me saying I would likely get from Olympia who charges close to $1k. I pay $25 for name brand. It makes no sense for me to go pay more for something that is not an fda approved drug.
