I saw Stevie live in Toronto 1983 or so. He stood up from the piano to sing standing a few feet away and walked face first into the microphone. He is definitely a blind man.

Please read a book, blind people can sense a person's presence and the direction of the sound of the voice.

Stevie can sense things that we can't just because he is blind. He has been dealing with it for years. That's why he was able to grab the mic when it dropped. Blind people learn how to survive well. Leave "The Amazing Wonder" alone if you don't have nothing nice to say about him, he really is all we got left of the great musical geniuses. We done lost Prince, long live Stevie.

I'm the same age as Stevie. We both have daughters born in the same year. We're both musicians. One of us got famous, the other didn't. I first heard his "Fingertips" on a 45 when I was a little boy. I've loved Stevie every day, ever since. The world is a better place for him and his music.

Stevie Wonder is not adapting to being blind. He's been blind since birth but wasn't born blind. His eyes were exposed to ultraviolet rays that damage his retina, while treating his jaundice. I love his music 🎶

I'm legally deaf. I collect social security for being deaf. I can still hear a little..I can even vaguely have phone conversations...but trust me..you put me in a room with 10 normally hearing people and it will soon be apparent that I'm differant. I've known many blind people who collect social security disability...The thing is...most of them can see a little bit. Let's say the normal person can here at 100%...I can here about 40% Stevie wonder might only be able to see at 40%..basics shapes and outlines with some color.. I always relate it to radio and tv to help people understand. A deaf person can normally still hear some sound. It's just that while the average person hears the radio station on 99.9 fm and gets perfectly clear music. The deaf person will be hearing this same music on 99.7...it will be distorted and statically..large portions will not be heard or understood...but technically they are still hearing the music. Same for blind people. Normal people are watching the show in perfect detail. Blind people are watching the same show... but the tv antenna is not placed right. The show is being viewed in extremely low resolution and there are waves going across the screen. Technically you could still watch the show...but your gonna have a hard time following the action on screen. So is Stevie Wonder legally blind....Yes...Yes he is Is he blind to the sense that he can't see anything at all...no..no way... Is he blind that he can likely see only 40% or less of what normal people see....definitly

This is one of the best metaphors for partial hearing I’ve ever heard. One of my best friends is in a similar boat to you due to meningitis. Right now if you met him, you might not even be able to tell. He has really top of the line hearing aids now and has adapted to them incredibly. But just a few years ago he believed he was pretty much fully deaf in his right ear because of crappy and half broken hearing aids. And even now, I know that he isn’t hearing exactly the same as what I do. I would never think that he doesn’t deserve his disability payment just bc things are a bit easier for him now bc of technology.

@@chazmichael7967 Your experience is not everyone's experience. There are many different types of deafness and blindness for that matter. Many deaf people can hear a small amount. Deafness by definition is not being able to understand speech due to hearing loss. Profound deafness is the total lack of perception of sound. The same as blindness, if you have complete blindness then you have no perception of light at all but many blind people can perceive at least some light. look at the youtuber Molly Burke for more info on blindness. she can perceive some light and is still very blind.

You can see he follows sound closely, detecting the slightest connotations, With ears like a Mozart. Steve Wonder an extraordinary pianist and incredible musician. Thats his sight...

The viewer34virgo I met him in 92 when he came to my video store and he was the sweetest, most patient guy. He bought a bunch of movies and I sincerely asked how he watched them, he said, "I don't, I just listen." Then I noticed he had a watch, which I found curious, so I asked how he could tell time. He showed me it was a Braille Watch, which I never knew existed, and showed me how it worked. That's a special memory to me.

"Blind" is not like "Closing your eyes" blind...Significant lost of vision does have its stages, But in most cases, There is the ability to determine night from day and detect objects (moving and stationary) in line of path, just that there's the inability to identify objects and/or determine their distance(s).

I hope the rumours are true and that he can actually see. The slightest bit of vision can make a huge difference to ones life.

If I'm correct he has been blind since birth. I've been listening to him since grade school. As a nurse when it comes to blind people their other senses take over . I dislike rumors very much. I love Stevie very much . I used to play the piano and the first sheet music was Song's In The Key Of Life.

Put the video on slow motion at around :49 seconds, and as the guy comes to put his hand around his right shoulder, he tightened it a bit at :51 seconds. He was focused on answering the question from the reporter, and when the guy came to him, his natural reaction was to tighten his shoulder in anticipation of being lead into the car. This is not a coincidence. It is a natural reaction to counter the force of being pulled "or guided" in a certain direction. It means he can see good enough to notice that!

OK, but there are celebs who are claiming to have proof that Stevie isn't blind, based on their encounters with him. For example, how did Stevie recognize Shaq in their random encounter? (Unless he was just making it up.)
