I don't think he would have became known in this way with out PRINCE and still to this day he is able to make money with this book. Prince never talked much about his relationship with Morris. In Morris early interviews he always threw shade at Prince. I believe that the little success Morris got then went to his head which soured any best friend relationship they might have had. Sure Prince had him in his movies and even at a few concerts but that was hot at the time and I figured he was still trying to put a little change in his pocket because what else was Morris doing? The Time hasn't made any new music sense when?

I was feeling disappointed at that point because my favorite band then, The Time was sort of broken up with the loss of key components, Jam and Lewis. But as I watched the movie, Morris lit the screen up and to me outshined everyone in the movie with his coolness and humor. Still loved Prince, but the original 7 were it for me....

We can certainly credit Prince with some of the "grooves", but not all of them. The Time featured industry giants Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, as well as then lesser known musicians like Boney James, who is one of the greats in the Smooth Jazz/Jazz arena. Prince deserves credit for discovering them, but all of the masterpieces that those gentlemen created on their own speaks for itself.

No, Prince was. I've got every one of his albums. His work is autobiographical. He tells you he's controlling, strict, a perfectionist, & a disciplinarian. Morris isn't the only person who knew Prince VERY well to say this! The facts are what they are. Lol!

@@tracymiller1713I didnt say he wasnt controlling. Most people say he was, so not sure why thats an issue. And secondly, all his albums are not autobiographical. He even said, sometimes a song is just a song - especially since a lot of his music is contradictory, just like his interviews - on purpose. His life INFLUENCED his music, true, but that is not the same autobiographical. The blanket statements about his life is the reason he didnt do Purple Rain 2, because he said he didnt want to get stuck with that "character" and people thinking they knew who he was. As long as you wash between your soul and through your hair." That's lyrics from the song "Come". You really think he wouldn't tell Mayte what outfit she was going to wear on dates, you're crazy! That in addition to 2 miscarriages & who knows what else, contributed to the demise of their marriage! The song, "Animal Kingdom", told the world he was a VEGAN! The song "Papa" talked about his stepfather locking him in a closet as a form of punishment. You're just not going to be able tell me much about one of my favorite artists of all time!
