Yeah, this funny and you're spot on because he was so calm in this interview, he did everything right in this interview. Made great eye contct, looked directly at the newsperson and answered their questions with no hesitation whatsoever and smiled and everything. And then a decade later, he would become super shy and extremely terrified to give an interview and talk to people. It just makes no sense!😆

@@tubucoco Prince wasn't shy and even said so himself, he just didn't like reveal much about his personal life; which journalist are desperate to know about. But in some interviews he would talk on and on about music and artists rights. In an interview with Tavis Smile on PBS he was much more open and candid about his life/ He was more of an introvert, which is different than being shy. All the people I've heard talk about his personality said he was funny and a prankster and could be talkative if he's interested in the subject.

Alot is said about Michael, but Michael was already a star by the time he was 11 with his brothers in The Jackson 5. Prince came out of nowhere and had to work harder to be successful. I believe Prince was more talented than Michael... And this is coming from someone who adored Michael Jackson. Thriller was the first album I owned as a kid. I also remember seeing Purple Rain as a kid... It totally blew me away. Losing Michael was a blow, but losing Prince REALLY hurt.

C'mon, of course it's Prince. It's undeniable. His facial expressions were the same as a kid. Amazing footage.

It brought a tear to my eye.

Even that 'hummmm...' between 2 sentences is 100% him. He did that in any interview as an hyperstar. The look, the attitude... Everythings from the dude just there already.

First, I got chills and now I am teary eyed. Prince's music soothed me and lifted me up out of some insane trauma when I was in my early 20's. One of my all time favorite memories was the day we went to Montreal from Vermont by bus and it was 6 am and frigidly cold at that corner bus stop. So I put my headphones on to listen to my prince casette tape and started doing a whole solid gold dancer routine (partially to get warm but partially to have fun, too), to Prince's Lets Go Crazy right in that frigid, icy snowy corner and my friend Paul was listening to the radio on his headphones. Keep in mind it was 6 am and most people in that city were still asleep and nobody was on the street but me and my friend. So he starts laughing, and looking around and finally points and waves at a building. Then he tells me to look up and I see a guy waving from the window at me and I just keep dancing. He makes me take off the headphones and says "He's a DJ for the local radio station and he just said on the air that it is 15 degrees out and there is a young lady doing an entire broadway routine out here in a desolated corner all by herself in the freezing cold, it is something else, you should see her going crazy". Which was even funnier because the Prince song was Lers Go Crazy. Man, Prince really lifted me up, his music was the best antidepressant for me at that time. This is so wonderful, Thank you so, so much for finding this and sharing the joy that his friends felt in seeing their buddy Skipper again. We miss him dearly and his music would have continued to enrich us and lift us up through a whole lifetime of trouble. What a beautiful discovery!

What a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing! Reminds me of when I was a kid and I was obsessed with When Doves Cry. I was dying to hear it and when we got to my grandparents house after church on Sunday I immediately called our local radio station to request it. The DJ answered and I asked him to please play When Doves Cry and he said, “Turn on your radio, kid, it’s playing right now!” I’ll never forget that! 😂 I about fell over racing to the radio in the kitchen to hear it before it was over. 😂

To this day, I still can't believe he's gone. I'm so glad I got to see him in concert before he passed away. A true musical genius.

IMHO I've never thought he passed away.. Did you watch the interview with Prince live on TV, when Prince was talking about Chemtrails? Well, it was shortly after that interview he was killed, at least IMHO. Anyway God bless you and your family 😇 🙏 👨‍👩‍👦

Prince was already a deep thinker, at age 11, into social justice. He was an incredible talent and is sadly missed worldwide. Thank god that despite his stage fright and shyness, when he got on stage, he changed into such an incredible performer. His memory is a blessing. RIP Prince. From Australia.

The footage of the 11 year old "Prince" is so Awesome and Amazing! He was very outspoken at such a young age! I am so very inspired by this discovery! God bless him for his insight and sharing his great gifts and talents with our world. 🙏🏼💯💜💟☮️

@@aldousorwell3807 kids are the most free, they are not afraid to speak their minds. And contrary to popular belief, kids can feel and think for themselves. It's when we are older that we get indoctrinated through schools, rules and outside matters. If we observe humans who are 2 and 3 we find a free human. This human does whatever they want, they are completely wild. If we observe most of these humans have big smiles on their faces and they are having fun. They are exploring the world. They are not afraid to play. They are not afraid to express how they feel. They are so loving if they perceive love they are not afraid to melt into love. That is a normal human being. I also thought of how painfully shy he was in that first Dick Clark interview. He wasn't very smooth here at 11, even though he was obviously excited to be interviewed. I wonder if that led to the extra shyness? I have actually lived through this in a way. Never got used to public speaking after an early gaff...

I'm no expert but that's Prince.

Thank you for posting this amazing time capsule of the man, himself. When I miss him, I listen to his music, and listen to interviews.... but, THIS! This is a treasure. May Jehovah bless you, and your family. I'm so grateful that he found what he had been looking for, all along. NOBODY can say that Prince was not blessed by God with all that talent!

The second I saw him I knew it was Prince. His shy way of public speaking was there at 11 years old. Speaking up for teachers rights and pay at 11 like he spoke up for artists rights and pay when he was older. Thank you for unearthing this gem!

I love Prince! He was very talented and driven! I believe his 'Let's go crazy' was a premonition. Hearing it today makes me feel entirely different than I did in 1984. It now makes me very sad. RIP Prince!

Yeah, he was standing up teachers way back then. He was the teachers official, I'm sorry, he was the teachers unofficial spokesman!😄

Also mention Prince's heart in the video. He shared compassion for his teachers at this young age. That says volumes about him and how he was raised.

That made me cry.This was a part of the fabric and will forever be lamented, etched on my life and others. That we all came to know and Love Prince .The memories the music, the concerts and all the good times along the journey .what a magical ride .

Not sure he had no idea, he probably always had a feeling, even at that young age. He was already playing instruments "phenomenally" by then. Not that he knew, but he probably had some idea that he'd be known for being uniquely gifted someday.

I disagree. Prince knew he was destined for greatness. He used to practice writing his autograph, because he knew he was going to be famous.

Long before prince found fame, fame was looking for him 💜

It’s when he turns his head to the side to look away for a split second and his mouth makes that smirk is what made me say yup that’s him! He did that on his first big interview too the same face!

Watching this little clip was an experience in itself. He’s almost the same age as my son on this. A young pubescent kid just starting to bloom.
