What’s sad about this performance is it’s his last recorded performance in Austin, TX (where he got his start) before he died just ten months later. He was getting a lot of mainstream play with new songs like “Crossfire,” and it all came to an end less than a year after this show.

You know Reese was in Dickey Betts’ band Second Coming which, with Duane Allman and a couple friends, became the Allman Brothers Band. He played the first time they got together and decided to form the band, but Duane Allman wanted his little brother Gregg in the band and kept Reese out. After Gregg died Reese was invited to play their 50th Anniversary show, and he did. Can you imagine being in The Allman Brothers Band AND Double Trouble? And bassist Tommy Shannon played at Woodstock with Johnny Winter in 1969. He walked up to Stevie, who he’d played with before, at a show in Houston and said “I have to be in this band.” Stevie could play drums too, and he showed Chris Layton what he wanted on drums when he joined the band.

he played with heavier gauged strings and that is why they tore his calluses off his finger tips..am not sure any other guitar player ever used anything as heavy as he did.. but it is what he liked and the sound and tone they gave him.. so he just played the hell out of them like it wasn't no thing.. edited to add double trouble.. his band was probably the best band around ever.. they had to adapt to every performance as stevie never played anything the same twice... he freestyled and ad libbed alot of his performances.. so you never got the same live performance twice and always was new and refreshing.. but the fact double trouble could all adapt on the fly and make it sound like that is how it goes on every adaptation shows how awesome and top notch they were..

❤ I love it. Keep great music alive. Friend I love the three of u
If you will pay attention Stevie Ray turns his head to the man waiting and watching for him to have a problem, when a man sees that he immediately brings a new guitar for him to play.
Thing could play those keys with one hand tied behind his back... ain't no doubt!
Show the the one of Voodoo Child that he did at the MDA Telethon. He played about a third of it behind his back...
Love this! Thank you!
The Reaction Faction are teamed up once again!!
SRV my favorite, but would still like you to check out Home Free’s Austin and Rob singing Nessum Dorma. The video is called Two Country Singers Try Singing Opra. It even made my husband tear up. It is incredible. Lots of reactors have watched it. They are all in shock.
❤️🙏🕊️🎸SRV🎸🕊️🙏❤️
Life Without You video has a guitar change too, because he didn't like the sound or couldn't tune it to his standard. He used 13 gauge strings while most guitarist used 9 gauge
Thank you brothers for that!
For some outstanding live piano, check out Big Bad Voodoo Daddy live...
he played with heavier gauged strings and that is why they tore his calluses off his finger tips..am not sure any other guitar player ever used anything as heavy as he did.. but it is what he liked and the sound and tone they gave him.. so he just played the hell out of them like it wasn't no thing.. edited to add double trouble.. his band was probably the best band around ever.. they had to adapt to every performance as stevie never played anything the same twice... he freestyled and ad libbed alot of his performances.. so you never got the same live performance twice and always was new and refreshing.. but the fact double trouble could all adapt on the fly and make it sound like that is how it goes on every adaptation shows how awesome and top notch they were..
May I recommend the following live performance? Joe Cocker / Mad Dogs and Englishmen "Cry me a River 1970." You will not be sorry.
The Larry Bird of Blues.
🎸💙SRV💙🎸
You should show them the video of one of his sound checks. I think they would like that one as well.
That guitar was his favorite, and it's name was Number 1. His keyboardist, Reese, is still getting down with it - he plays with Joe Bonamassa now.
Listen to his guitar solo on David Bowie’s China Girl.
7:47 MC Hammer sez, "Can't block this!"
Is this the blues? Yes sir, Texas style.
Thanks for that guys
Keep Battling Them Blocks..please..and thanks !
Show the brothers more SRV
SRV Scuttle Buttin
You can see the Genes in you Three
Love any live Stevie Ray. Find a video of him doing Rude Mood to see some great guitar work. RIP Stevie. A real good song to check out is with his brother from The Vaughn Bros. album I believe is called Tick Tock.
His fingertips didn't fall off, it was the calluses came off and he glued them back on his fingers.
I saw Reese Wynans with Joe bonamassa's band a few years ago, still plays like a demon
Now I'm going to look up some El D.
Jamel, I know you love that piano but here's something you might not know. He's the same keyboard player who plays organ with Joe Bonomasa!
He was incredible
I love El 😂DeBarge!
I KNOW RIGHT!
I miss this you with your brothers enjoying enjoying good music, why the channel stage ?
