Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. July 20, 1983 at the El Mocambo in Toronto, first leg of the Texas Flood record tour. This entire show is one for the record books.

Absolutely!!!
nothing short of mastery, the man was soooooo incredibly talented he could make that guitar do whatever he pleased!
This is my all time favorite SRV song. It may even be one of my favorite songs ever.
"Life Without You" - great example of emotion expressed through an instrument.

Yes! The Capital Theater performance is the BEST for “Life Without You”!
I'd love to see you do "Couldn't Stand The Weather" (Austin City Limits version). Each bandmember is highlighted & Stevie was so obviously enjoying himself. And the song has such a breezy, slightly jazzy feel to it. I know you'd love it.💙☮💙

I second that emotion‼️
He's such a bright star with such amazing talents that it gets easy to forget how brilliant Double Trouble is holding down the beat. The bass playing and drumming in these songs is crisp and smart. BTW, the whammy bar is like having a lever hooked to the bridge, so you can essentially use it to vibrate the strings and warble their tension.

Tommy Shannon was also the bass player for Johnnie Winter. He was another great blues man from Texas.
Stevie looked up to many great legends in the music world as well as carving out his own individual style and writing his own songs. But Stevie always said his biggest influence was his big brother Jimmie and it was his big brother Jimmie who got him started. Don't know if you have already reacted to it, but they did a song together called "Pipeline" on a double necked guitar that's incredible!
SRV does a great tribute to Jimi's incredible song.

One of the best performances ever recorded.
I remembered this when it happened was on tv on PBS
SRV was a legend. If y’all are ever in Austin, Tx there is a big statue of him there. People will go and leave guitar picks, or go listen to music at the statue. Fun fact: He has hands like catchers mitts. Huge hands and fingers. So he would play with the thickest strings possible for a better tone, but they’re harder to bend. No problem for Stevie. This is my favorite song of his. It sounds like two people having a conversation, then arguing, and making up in the end. Going back over the same subject again. It’s beautiful. Check out his story about Antone’s Club in Austin. SRV (unknown at the time) wanted to play with legendary blues artist Albert King. Albert wasn’t into it, but the owner of the club (Clifford) convinced him. I’ll find you a link. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dpab2tGvkbSudLg.html They ended up doing an album together later on.
Stevie's great and unique sound is from playing through 4 to 5 Vintage Fender Tube Amps with 10",12" & 15" speakers, all Vintage pedals and of course old Vintage Strats playing with #13 strings !!!! Yes Guitarist out there 13s !!!! Try bending 13 strings Yikes, most of us play 9s or 10s !! 🎸
This is straight fire. Shit makes me fucking cry.. Fly high Stevie ❤️🔥
This was actually a situation where it was the guitar that had a song to sing, and it was merely using Stevie as a channel to sing with 😉
I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan at the Greek Theater in LA in the late 70s or early 80s not sure about that but of all the great guitar players I've ever seen live he was the only one who the guitarist seemed like part of his body never seen anything like that I did not see Jimmy but I saw all the rest of them and svr was amazing glad you guys are doing this one
Chod, Stevie's "The House Is Rockin' " is next for you!!
It's a wah-wah pedal. Hendrix used it to make the vocal expressions too. Great video.
Getting into some Haute Vaughan here; real classic with him ascending to his personal plane of sonic spirituality. His brother got the wah-wah pedal he uses from Hendrix; so SRV can sound as authentic as possible when covering him. I really dig his ability & willingness to take you along for a ride few could provide.
Should check out the Stevie Ray Vaughan & Jeff Healey - Look at Little Sister
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Pure music No bullshitAllowed, So many hours of Enjoyment. He left us too soon. And so much more to give. Glad you enjoy Good to see your reactions always. Check out Mary had a little lamb one of my favorites.
Stevie is guitar God !
One of the most famous hits of the king of rock 'n' roll in an unrivaled gorgeous, phenomenal performance by Diana Ankudinova ( 18 y.o.) Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley / DARK VERSION cover) Please react to Diana Ankudinova ! Meet the singer with the most unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones), reactors call her the goosebump queen. "Together with her tessitura, it identifies her potential voice type as dramatic contralto, the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice." (Wikipedia about Diana) Full vocal range - 4 octaves. The number of reactions to Diana exceeded the number of 12 thousand reactions. In my playlist section there are 3 playlists (5k+5k+2k reactions each).

this is my first time here I'm new to this one and Welcome to SRV bule PIR
You guys are so sweet! 😊💜
Great reaction guys..... btw, PLEASE consider reacting to Derek & The Dominoes studio version of Little Wing - primo.... 2 of the very best guitarists ever, eric clapton and duane allman, with others. i guarantee tons of views too lol... the whole album (Layla) is one of the greatest ever
He turned up the volume and the spring reverb on the amp, and got some feedback too.
This was a cover of a Jimi Hendrix song, that amp tuning guitar distortion was a direct tribute to Jimi.
a whamy bar is a tremelo bar, a wah-wah pedal is sometimes a cry baby wah, which was a brand of wah wah pedal that many greats used, can make crying noises from either depending on what your doing
Kia ora hello from Aotearoa new zealand he sure NAILED IT but his back up THAT BASS AND DRUMS WAS KILLER
Stevie Ray always plays tribute to Hendrix since he was one of his idols but always takes his music up to another level. I'm a year older than SR V and a Boomer and remember Seeing Hendrix do this song 1969 and had his albums, but This rendition is #1 in my book.
Hendrix & Stevie as one !!! 🎶🎸🎼
Happy Thursday to you!
I’m telling you bro couldn’t stand the weather live in Austin tx 1989 is such a fun song! Gotta check it out!!!
Know too that this version only exists for this recording. SRV was famous for never playing a song the same way twice.
The Bigsby vibrato tailpiece is a type of vibrato device for electric guitar designed by Paul A. Bigsby. The device allows musicians to bend the pitch of notes or entire chords with their pick hand for various effects. The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
Actually he was following Jimmy Hendrix who was one of his idols. Seen him when I was 17 in Toronto at Elmocambo club because my friend said he covered Jimi songs. Was blown away and a fan since and seen numerous shows after. last time front row at a tiny outdoor venue in upstate NY with Johnny Winter opening. what a show together they were. last song by Stevie was Jimmy Hendrix Voodoo child. Two weeks later he was killed in the Helicopter cash, what a loss of another great. RIP Stevie.
These precious guitars are usually on exhibit in museums that sometimes pay the owner a handsome sum. The famed "SRV" Fender Stratocastor he's playing here continues to make money...

I’ve seen this guitar - Stevie Ray’s #1 at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland . Amazing guitars there. Duane Allman’s Les Paul, Keith Richards Les Paul used on the recording of Sympathy For The Devil, Clapton Strat, even Gram Parsons acoustic guitar.
Your noises ARE on point! His guitar I believe is either in the rock n roll hall of fame OR his older brother Jimmie has it. I would highly recommended checking out his brothers stuff also. He has a solo career now but was also the guitarist for The Fabulous Thunderbirds. I actually got to meet Jimmie once.
You need to check out Riviera paradise next he puts a bit of Jazz guitar in that one and It's an awesome song.
That note at the 4:27 mark gives me chills.
The wah pedal people are talking about was not given to Stevie or Jimmie from the Hendrix family. Jimi broke his and borrowed Jimmie's sharing a venue. He broke that one, too. He gave Jimmie another pedal and some money as a replacement. Jimmie still has it in estate. Jimmie talks about it in videos, and the story is mentioned in SRV biographies. Many of Stevie's guitars have been sold. I believe Number One is still in Vaughan estate. Not sure about Lenny and some others. Common story is urban legend mixed with the truth.
When we first heard all the sounds Jimi created on the guitar we thought it sounded like space travel. Jimi was an alien just passing through.
YO, he dealt with it all and y’all heard it …amazing.
Sting, from the group, the police, also does a really nice (studio album) version of this. There are actually like 4 well known versions. Hendrix himself, Derek and the dominos, srv and sting. A multiple reaction would be interesting. Especially (to me anywsy) how sting and Derek and the dominos approach it.
You should react to SRV on MTVs Unplugged. It is acoustic show and he absolutely kills it.
The whammy bar, or tremolo, affects the tension on the strings by tilting the bridge (where the strings are anchored into the guitar body). When you push it down, it tilts the bridge towards the neck, increasing the slack on the strings and thus lowering the pitch. The reason Stevie goes back to the amp is to try to get feedback. Best achieved by touching the guitar neck to the body of the amp - it's a way of getting notes to sustain (ring longer) and can be used to get howling effects etc. I think Stevie sometimes had problems getting this, imo because he was very much into getting a good tone rather than just turning everything up, the latter making it easier create feedback, but losing that sweet spot for best tone. There are videos of him playing live where you actually see him go back to the amps and turn everything up when he wants to use this effect (Life Without You at the Capitol Theatre being one).
The blues is real life. Whatever bad day you had, no matter what that woman (or man) did, how unfair the boss, the man, or the judge, no matter how heartless the bank, why the factory closed, why your horse didn't win, or how cold the winter or deep the flood; some other brother has been there, done that, had it worse than you, and wrote a song about it a hundred years ago. Your problem isn't new under the sun, and somehow knowing that just helps.
You must listen to Stings version ot this master peice of a song. Beuiifull 🇬🇧😊🤗😥❤
Hey y’all! Would it be possible to turn up the volume on your mic? The music is so much louder than your reaction, and sometimes I almost can’t hear you, even though I have my speaker turned up all the way. Love watching y’all!

Ya Dude... couldn't hear ya. Rock on!
can you do a reaction to Tattooed Lady by Rory Gallagher
Sting does an excellent cover of this as well.
A Jimi Hendrix classic.
👍
Your reaction videos are great!!! Having the music over your talking is a good thing!
Absolutely love this song from Stevie!! Of course I love everything that he did! Have to mention that the two of you talking during the song, even though I couldn't hear you, was extremely distracting.
One thing i can not get my head around is that people who knew him said he was a humble guy if i could play the guitar like him i would be the most arrogant bastard in the world
You MUST track down a live version by the OG, the GOAT, Jimi, say the one from 'A Film About Jimi Hendrix'. Without casting shade on SRV's passionate take here, I'm compelled to remember starting to do this at jams in the early 90s simply to pre-empt others who seemed to think it was all about shredding, while missing the inherent poetry and sensitivity of Jimi's composition and approach. The New Music on City-TV were the programming umbrella and station that broadcast Stevie's 'Live from (Toronto's) El Mocambo' back in the day. I, like so many, was glued to the set that night.
You can’t not like and appreciate this version of Hendrix’s song, I first heard little wing on Sting’s studio album and it’s still my favourite but I enjoyed this too

I mean, he had Hiram Bullock on guitar. Can't go wrong.
Try Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood live at Madison Square Garden!
Derek and the Dominos also does a excellent tribute to this song. Duane Allman and Eric Clapton
that is Stevie's version of Jimmy Hendrix' Little Wing two best electric guitars
Odds of winning the power ball are alot better than being able to play like Stevie ray
A group suggestion for the two of you Blackberry Smoke
OK, I can't handle it anymore! You have to let us hear what y'all are saying while the song is playing. If I want to just hear the song, I don't need y'all. I'm here for a reaction. Please, Luv from Texas.
LOL. The first 3 minutes it looked liked you were wondering if each other did the dishes. No. I thought you did? Oh, wait, we're doing a reaction video. We should pretend we like this! All the other reaction people have done this one too. We are just doing what they do, because that's what people search for.
SRV...The GOAT
If you wanna hear the original, watch Jimi Hendrix. He wrote it.
A lot of Hendrix in that one ! It is a Hendrix cover….
1959 fender stratocaster
The only problem with that video is that it's cut short. He goes full Hendrix at the end and throws his guitar on the floor and flips it around while playing.
Listen to Lenny. The best SRV instrumental ever.
I Love toO Say I told you both So But So ..... "I told ....Y.....well you know!
Nice reaction. I'm a new Patreon. Are you receiving my messages guys?
Guys watched Stevie Ray like they watch Kung Fu movies. They are trying to pick up hints on how they do it.
I wonder if Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix had any influence over his style.
You really owe it to yourself to listen to the studio version. The audio quality is much cleaner.
Reminds of of Jimi Hendrix
Do his sound check video......he don't take time off.
I think this isn't so much a cover as a reprise. Jimi has lyrics and is shorter, much shorter. The greatest beauty/tragedy is how short the song is. SRVs version is a great tribute, but really a different song. Just my two cents.
I believe that the only thing Hendrix did better than SRV was write songs. Hendrix was the original and SRV came along some 15 years later, so you have to take that into consideration when comparing their guitar skills.

Jimi blazed the first trail. Stevie paved the road.
Is that a red yarn bracelet your lovely wife is wearing?
Just curious isn't it called a wah bar?
SRV was the greatest of all time
Its all butterflies, zebras and fairytales.
This is a cover of a the same song by Jimi Hendrix. I think the Hendrix version is better.

I know what you mean, but Stevie really puts his soul into it. Jimi is my favorite also (with SRV second on the list, and I have a long list of favorite guitarists).
I wonder what they're always talking about... are we supposed to be able to hear em?
The GOAT OF GOATS! That is what Jimmy Page thought of him! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm not sure where to request but I think Chod (and of course Dee) would enjoy this by Joe Bona massa and of course Reese!! kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zo5hp8icgcjPlsY.html
You’re volume ! When the artist plays the volume needs to go way down. When you stop to speak the volume needs to go way up. Starting up again blows the ears out and have to scramble to take it down. Enjoy your videos but this problem needs to be fixed ASAP !
Let me suggest that you turn your attention to the unique singer from Russia - *Diana* *Ankudinova* . This is the case when the genre, style, musical direction in which she sings is not important, but only her unique, inimitable voice and the way she presents the song itself to us are important!
Why wouldn't you just listen to the Hendrix version. It's better and he wrote it with lyrics. Hendrix version is smoother too.
did we really need a 3rd version w/out any apparent differences from the original? Why would SRV record this song AFTER it was already done by HENDRIX, CLAPTON and Duane Allman? I'll tell ya why, because SRV could not write/compose worth a damn!! Stevie is A BORING GENIUS.
fix your audio please. move the mic closer to you. cant hear a damn word you say
blocked what their saying already
Chod, SRV is truly a phenomenal player but you should really check out more BLUES IMAGE - "Pay My Dues" = kzread.info/dash/bejne/qWeGzaiMh8uXlLA.html
What’s the point of reacting to music if you’re gonna talk through it
Probably one of the worst SRV reaction videos , not just because you talked the entire performance but also because it was muted . Wtf yo ?!
Home come your eyes look normal on the video thumbnail, but your wife’s eyes look all cracked out? Is she on something?
Yall talk way too much while the man is playing for real
Failed reaction !!!
