Around 12:27 when he plays the guitar with his teeth he actually loses a tooth, starts looking for it, mentions it to his guitar tech, says to him “It’s my tooth!”, then “Sorry!”. If you’re not paying attention you’ll miss it entirely. During all this he keeps on playing, never loses a single beat. That’s how committed he was to the music. Everything else became secondary. Fucking legend of a man.

If you stop the video right as he's finishing playing the guitar with his teeth, you can see the gap where his ex-tooth used to be. I'm actually surprised his mouth didn't bleed like crazy. But once again, he never missed a beat and in fact his weeping guitar started weeping even louder with intense but totally under control feedback!

Stevie wrote this song for his longtime friend Charley Wirz, a guitar tech, who passed away. He didn't break a string this time, just switched guitars. His white guitar, also named "Charley" was switched to shortly after starting the song. Also, after breaking off his tooth, he carried on like nothing happened. That was Reese, btw. What a loss for music and humanity when we lost Stevie.

👏🙌🎸🎶💯‼️great reaction guys to the SRV fans favorite💯. He wrote this song for his good friend Charlie Wirz, a Dallas guitar shop owner, who passed away suddenly. Charley built that white guitar for Stevie out of parts. But just FYI Stevie never drops a pick, he is always dropping down to adjust foot pedals. He stashes extra picks on the mic stand. And yes that IS REECE! Reece was the only keyboardist for Double Trouble. He joined in August of 1985 until the end. After playing with his teeth, he lost a cap and immediately whirled around trying to find it on the floor. He mouthed the word offstage "my tooth!" and mouthed "Sorry!" To the tech that had to come onstage and retrieve it for him. I am really enjoying your Stevie Ray journey and you have a long way still to go. Something different I think you guys will really dig is his "Soundcheck". It is about 17 minutes long, they play 3 songs. Stevie had just rolled out of bed, yawning and rubbing his eyes but as soon as he straps in he is lost in the music. This has been viewed over 22 million views so you know it is 🔥🔥💯‼️ how many soundchecks get 22 million views? I'll wait...

The guitar switch was because this song was written for his guitar tech that passed away, he always used the same guitar for this song, he didn't drop his pick he was adjusting the foot pedals to the new guitar, and well as adjusting his amp settings on the fly, he was so in tune with his guitar that he could play it in any position he wanted! Love the react videos, great job!!

SRV was just about to hit rock bottom of a drug and alcohol addiction when this was recorded. You can see it in his eyes. I saw him live in 1985 and it was my first real concert experience. He got clean in 1986 and went on to advocate for others to get clean until his untimely death August 27, 1990. One of the saddest days of my life. Please react to one of his Austin City Limits performances from 1989. You will see a rejuvenated human. EDIT....I see you already did. Riviera Paradise

Stevie always played this particular song, Life Without You, as a tribute to his good friend Charley Wirz (RIP) that owned Charley's Guitar Shop in Dallas and Stevie always played it on the white guitar that Charlie had built as a gift for Stevie. “Charley” is a white custom-made "hardtail" (non-tremolo, fixed bridge) "Stratocaster-style" guitar built it in late 1983, with a neck plate on it engraved _”To Stevie Ray Vaughan, more in '84.”_ My best guess is Stevie just forgot in all the excitement.. so started the song with "Red,” but then realized his mistake and switched to Charley mid song... it was that important to him. Stevie's guitar tech and roadies were like a Nascar pit crew at changing strings and switching Stevie's guitar's out because he played so hard he often broke strings.
@robertjohnson1681
Жыл бұрын
Then again, Stevie's guitar tech may have just put new strings on (you can see Stevie mouthing to him "it's going out of tune" during the song and you can hear Stevie comment about his guitar going out of tune at the end of the clip) and they were still stretching out and going flat as he played the song. This may have had something to do with him starting the song without "Charley," but if you watch him perform "Come On" right before this song you can see "Charley" sitting on it's guitar stand ready to go. So who knows...

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats Guitar change, behind the back, backward, one-handed, epic speech, with his teeth.....absolute GOAT! He didn't drop his pick. He adjusted his foot pedal for "Charley" (the white strat) since he changed from "Red." He was also adjusting amps/equipment to accommodate the tuning of "Charley." Typically, he would have #1, Charley, Red, Lenny, and Scotch on stage and ready to rock. Yup, that was Reece. In all his badass-ness. 😉 During his speech, he was referring to the apartheid of S. Africa taking place during that time frame. Words we can all live by even today. **Leave My Girl Alone at Austin City Limits 1989**

Stevie was on a different level. drops his pick and grabs it without stopping his play, changes his guitar with his tech seamlessly without missing a beat. Tunes the new guitar while jamming out, pops out a tooth while playing with his teeth and searches for it while playing, plays like a beast behind his back, truly an amazing performance.
@Real_LiamOBryan Жыл бұрын
When it appears he's dropping his pick, he's actually adjusting knobs on his foot pedals (e.g., tone, level, overdrive, etc.). That's why he was turning on other amps and making adjustments there as well. P.S. That was, indeed, Reese Wynans on the keys.

Thank you for covering my favorite guitarist, SRV. There are several that could legitimately claim the guitar throne, but for me it's his style, soul, creativity and passion that comes through his playing (and his singing) that makes him number one for me. This song in particular is big with me, because it always reminds me of my mom who my family lost in 2016. If you haven't already checked out another one of his slower jams, I highly recommend his cover of Jimi's Little Wing-itself a beautiful classic. He takes a 2:20 second song and turns it into his own 7 minute masterpiece. If you want to check out a couple other blues rock guitarist who are legitimately underappreciated, sample some Jeff Healey. For a banger, try See the Light, and for a slow burner, I Think I love You Too Much. Jeff also has an awesome smokey bluesy voice perfect for his style. An ever lesser known talent is Eric Gales, who Joe Bonamassa calls the greatest living blues guitarist. He has tons of songs as well. I would recommend his instrumental High Anxiety and Resurrection and Sign of the Storm! You will be happily impressed! Great channel guys!

I was amazed that Stevie Ray Vaughan was such a sweet soul and love for everyone after hearing his older brother Jimmie Vaughan talk about their abusive childhood, their father was an alcoholic who abused them both but Jimmie said Stevie Ray always got it the worst. Coming from an abusive home myself I understand why people get into drugs and alcohol, I was raised by a mother who always told me she never wanted me and would lock me in a cold dark basement with no windows and a dirt floor, beat me with a board with 2 nails in it and I wouldn't eat but every 2 or 3 days. Drugs and alcohol was a survival technique to numb yourself from the pain and always asking yourself why me? Like Stevie Ray I had to go to rehab and face the things that happened to me and being a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan for over 40 years I heard this and I still cry. He took something so ugly and cruel and made himself a positive influence for people like me. That's why I had to find out everything about Stevie Ray from childhood to now, I don't mean to sound corny but he changed my life. STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN WILL ALWAYS BE THE GOAT imo

Guys like Stevie only happen once in a lifetime. He truly was the GOAT. We lost him way too soon!!!

Imagine being 15 years old sneaking out of the house to take the train/bus round trip of 117 miles hoping your mom never finds out and hearing that speech , I have never forgotten it!
"Stevie was an endless, open channel that music just poured out of. He made people who'd never touched a guitar in their life want to pick one up and start playing, and he made those of us who'd played live onstage with him before want to quit"...........Eric Clapton.

What a tremendously great compliment and QUOTE . Thanx

And a damn good fucking human being. And sexy as hell.
Can't say how much I love Stevies taking us to church message In this song. Such a great gentleman.
Riviera Paradise
broke tooth...he laughed and said "i broke a tooth"
Of all the artists who've died too young, SRV is the one that hit me the hardest. Pure love of what he was doing, and as you heard, he was a promoter of love among each other. It hurts not knowing what else he would have given us. Rest in peace, guitar god.
Once you see it live it’s real easy to tell this guy was on another level. The Goat!
His main guitars were Number One (First Wife) the battered guitar, Charlie the white one, Lenny, named for his ex-wife, and Butterscotch. Pretty sure they were always there plus a few others. You can hear the guitar wailing, expressing Stevie’s pain at losing his friend. Great Reaction!
Austin erected a statue of Stevie because of his music, but especially for the soul shown in this closing speech. Beautiful man.
No doubt about it Stevie ray Vaughan was the best guitarist the man the myth the legend going way to soon.
You need to understand that the guitar is part of him, an extension of his hands. He is never lost on where to go. Some guitarists have to think about how to proceed. Not SRV. It just flowed out of him. The best I have ever heard.
He left it all hanging out on this one. Supernatural Stevie. 💙
@robertjohnson1681

The best I ever saw in my 60+ years! As you said the combo of singing, playing and also stage presence, is unmatched in my lifetime. Loved this reaction guys. ✌️😊
SVR's version of Hendrix's Little Wing live at El Macombo is haunting and beautiful. He won a Grammy for the studio version.
Your right nobody is, was, will be as good as SRV ever.
I love this performance because it’s shows the caring thoughtful person that SRV was. I can’t think of a better live performer…RIP SRV.
Srv was almost godlike in his abilities. I like how his message behind it was so pure and well intentioned. He was completely committed and locked in the whole time. This is my favorite performance by him
All of your great blues players like Albert King B.B King Buddy Guy. Give Stevie Ray Vaughan the credit for bringing the blues to the Forefront of mainstream in the 80s. And bringing the blues back alive again to the people.
This song was in every set list, in his live shows..after he got sober, the speech was different every time, up all the way to the end..same hopeful messages, but each one more poignant! On your journey play the Nashville Live performance, and others. Each one gives me chills ! ..keep up the good work men!
😂 .. Good one guys! .. The "Evil Knievel" of guitarists .. Yes sir .. He be jumpin' the Grand Canyon during every performance .. "Ladies and gentlemen .. Let's give this man a nice, warm welcome back to the stage StEVIL Ray VnIEVEL & Double Trouble!! .. VaaRooom! 🎸🏍 Vrroooom!! "..
Thanks for reacting to this song! I've been watching ever since I recommended this to see if u would! I knew y'all would appreciate it!! BTW, that WAS Reece. Stevie wrote this song for a friend that had passed away. One of the best parts is where he delivers his 'message'. 40 some years ago & it's still relevant!! RIP Stevie!!
I’ve been playing for 57 years. Always followed and listened to all the greats. There are so many from different genres. SRV is just a step above all the rest.
Everything SRV played was amazing.
That guitar solo after he gets done talking is just filthy. Without question one of Stevie's best.
When it appears he's dropping his pick, he's actually adjusting knobs on his foot pedals (e.g., tone, level, overdrive, etc.). That's why he was turning on other amps and making adjustments there as well. P.S. That was, indeed, Reese Wynans on the keys.
Try Life By The Drop, Lenny, and Riviera Paradise if you haven’t already. The man WAS lightning in a bottle. 😉
He would only be 70 years old if he was still alive, you know he would still be playing. What a loss.✌️
Sometimes in life are just things that can't be explained Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of those things sometimes miracles just happen how lucky we were to have him
"Angels have waited so long, now they have their way. Take your place." Fucking beautiful.
Those people who DON'T know SRV...will be blessed, when they hear, for the first time, his beautiful soul. Thank you SRV.❤

Your SRV reviews are great! Thoughtful and respectful! He was blessed and gifted. God must have needed his talents in heaven. Keep up the great reviews. Cheers and Warm Regards, David
He was finally clean and sober for this. I ache for the talent taken from us. Imagine what he could have done if he hadn’t been taken away. I sometimes curse God for taking this beautiful tortured soul away from us.
SRV was special and had nothing but love in his heart for everyone Man I miss this musician so much I often think of all the great music we never got to hear from this man RIP TO THE LEGEND that want ever dye in this house I believe this man could play the guitar with his feet Because he could play it in any other way you can think of

The drip that Stevie is serving, people!! My word... still making babies.
Yall are the only reactors that I've watched that caught the guitar change. Good job .
The white guitar was made for him by his friend Charlie who owned a guitar shop in Dallas. Charlie died unexpectedly of a heart attack. He wrote the song for Charlie and plays it on the guitar Charlie made for him
The best. Absolutely the best. I miss him...this is such a great song.
I swear you can see the blues flowing out of the tips of his fingers, electrifying his guitar and moving on thru the airwaves into space and time!!

SRV had One job...and he did it Masterfully! It helps not to miss someone so much when you still hear them so often, and see so MANY young peeps discover him, is heartwarming and brings me close to feeling how I felt first time listening! Great job guys! Keep On!
Stevie died way too young! I cry every time I hear this! Even more true all these years later!
This man, among us mortals, died on the night of my birthday. When everyone left I sipped JD and listened to our local rock radio station play his music until sunrise. RIP SRV Forever
He and his crew were masters at changing guitars and not missing 1 single note
Ya'll have reacted to enough SRV now to understand why he's not just my #1 guitarist, but he's my #1 artist to listen too. His untimely death hit me hard. I remember getting the word on the radio in the car and I had to pull over and let it sink in. I miss his talent and the music he could have made over the years.
I was fortunate to see a double bill concert of Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Mind blowing
Absolutely insane 😳😳😳😳
Grateful I got to see him back in the day! RIP
His speech was relevant for today as much as then. He was a true showman and his words meant something.
Stevie played every way you can think of.
stevie is more than just an amazing guitarist and singer and blues man he’s an amazing human being. he was a God send.
He got sober and spoke like our Lord and Savior, paraphrased “Love each other as I have love you”. AND always the beautiful Banner of The Lone Star State!
that was in fact Reese Wynans on keys. I recommend you guys check out "Look At Little Sister" from Austin City Limits, Stevie brakes a string and you dont even notice it while he's playing and does another flawless guitar switch plus Reece is featured on this song . another good one is stevie doing sound check plays about 3 songs . its fire.
Y’all missed it at the 12:29 mark when he was playing with his teeth, and mouthed, “I lost my tooth.” Then said, “it’s gone.”

The sky is crying. Great performance.
SRV is the GOAT!!! No argument!!!
Great review. 85 was the year I got to meet him by the buses, after his DC gig at Constitution Hall. Still got my hat with the SRV autograph on the shelf. No cell phone pics back then, but he was a down to earth humble Texan who very much may've been the greatest guitarist of all time. Certainly of his time. You just wouldn't know it by spending a few precious moments in his company.
Srv was and is the goat!! Glad y'all chose this!! That was Reese by the way!! Rip stevie!!
This man was raw soul
I'm 65 years old now... I thought I knew to a point who the top guitarist were. But I sure was wrong... Stevie ray Vaughan "IS" the best in my opinion. He has it ALL..... And by the way.. I really enjoy you guys playing the music that you play. Some songs and bands I never heard of before. But they are fantastic. I can't believe I missed hearing them. You both do a fantastic service to entertainment. I listen now. My eyes and ears were once closed. But NOW they are wide open. Thank you.

Me too.
I love how he walks around the stage playing the guitar behind his back, like he's just walking around the stage with a cup of coffee in his hand.
Had a friend back in those days who was a cabbie in Austin. Good dude and he was Stevie's goto cab driver when he was in town. Had nothing but praise for Stevie, a kind and generous man.
He was even more amazing live. I saw him play for free on South Padre Island for Spring Break a few times. Also saw him regularly in Austin and San Antonio. Also saw him at Red Rocks in Colorado. An amazing dude with an amazing heart.
He played with great soul also. Very soulful .
I adore SRV and just can't get enough of him. I can't imagine where he would be as an artist if he was still with us. I think that you are only the 2nd reactors that I recall noticing the guitar change , and I have watched numerous reactions to this performance. It is my favorite. Thank you for letting us go along this SRV journey with you. I can see how much you admire him just by looking in your eyes. That was a younger Reese.
Totally agree with you guys -- Stevie Ray was unsurpassed, both with his instrument and with his blues-y vocals. What a damn shame that he left us so early, because he certainly had even more to contribute.
Simply the best, he was simply the BEST! But you guys too as reactors, simply the best to watch and listen together!
It was Reese.. SO enjoying watching you guys experience Stevie... Little Wing also at the El Macambo... There is a 17 min "Warm up" "Sound Check" that freaks most people out as well. You want to see "dressed like a rock star", he's it in the sound check. Most of us older fans that may have gotten to see the man live and in person have been running around telling everyone what a fantastic talent Stevie was and the unbelieveable things the man could do with a guitar. It's with great appreciation that you two guys are proving us all right. Thank you for that...
