Exactly. The reference to "The Motherland" and "down south". I was in my late teens/early twenties at the time. Most of the current generations won't understand the reference, but the words are relevant and relatable.

I love how we always hold these guys to be greater than life. Guitarist like Hendrix and Stevie, who we often say “they weren’t human, they were aliens or they were from another planet” but I think the beauty of it, is that they were in fact human. They were flesh and blood like the rest of us. But they worked their way for us to hold Them to next level and that’s really beautiful

ironically the song was about the loss of a good friend and mentor Charley Wirz, who gave the " Lipstick Special " to SRV.. so it is fitting that he played that song with that guitar and on that stage on that night.... for the last show to ever be played their.. i will always remember that show as one of the best and special shows on many many levels... but mostly because it was my 16th birthday and my best friends dad bought us tickets and went to the show with us...

You're seeing Stevie sing a lyric that is now on his own grave stone. It says Thank you for "all the love you've passed our way..." Because Charley Wirz meant so much to him I think this is one of his most beautiful heartfelt songs & my favorite. "Life Without You" - SRV Well hello baby, Tell me, How have you been? We all have missed you, And the way you grin The day is necessary, Every now and then For souls to move on, Given life back again Fly on, Fly on, Fly on my friend Go on, Go on and live again, Love again Cause day after day, Night after night Sittin' here singin', every, every minute As the years go passin' by, by, by, A long look in the mirror, We come face to face Wishin' our love we took for granted A love we had yesterday, Cause Life Without You 🌟All the love, you've passed our way🌟 Angels have waited, for so long Now they have their way Take your place....

Yeah man the speech. Stevie liked to give a little sermon always during this song live, but this clip you just watched has the best all around performance (his singing, dope right??) - but he meant those words and lived a LIFE & 1 half, to gain the right to speak them to 60,000 people and that is why they are so powerful. He suffered, he rose, and he lived to spread love. Then 5 years after this vid he was taken in his 30s in a helicopter crash - random cruel world. He was so many things to so many people, And just happened to be the most wicked guitar player of all time. A lot of people have the same reaction to seeing this, legendary no doubt - but it was awesome watching yours - it obviously hit home in all the ways SRV does once you are put on to him - nobody else like him. I' recommend "Mary had a Little Lamb" live from Austin City Limits - or "Tin Pan Alley - Live with Johnny Copeland.". But lucky for you all, they are limitless really.

He wrote this song in memory of his good friend Charlie Wirz, who owned a guitar shop and gave Stevie that white guitar which was specially made as a gift. Did you notice he changed guitar, he looks off to the side and nods yes. Stevie never played a song the same way. If you saw him let's say for example the 5 o'clock show and saw him at the 9 o'clock show he'd play the same song but it would be different. His base player and drummer had to watch him. Must see Look Little Sister, smoothest guitar change in my opinion. He was only 5'5" in stature but a giant of a man. Look for him and his protege Jeff Healey.

Thankyou love this ... makes me cry at such a beautiful soul being taken so young...but also so horrifically. A beautiful voice that people forget coz of his superb guitar magic lol Song he wrote for a friend who died but the words could equally apply to him! ☹ An the speech is prophetic...breaks my heart. Only Stevie & Elvis can mesmerise me & perform with no fx etc an i'd listen to them non stop Live of course...both unique style, transcended music as if channeling...did their own thing in each concert as they felt it...and very loyal to their band members...Elvis said he wouldnt play the Texas astrodome if his backing singers were not allowed to join him....David Bowie used Stevie to play on his most popular album Lets Dance & promised him and his band a slot on his world tour so Stevie could play also with Bowie but at the last minute told him to drop his band "you'll be better off on ur own"...Stevie refused to play again for Bowie yet ever the polite guy like Elvis..wouldnt slate Bowie when he easily could.....both very humble & generous...unfortunately Stevie was killed before he was more widely known...his guitars will never "sing" again...we are so lucky thete is tons of SRV Videos from very young right up to almost his last gig (on audio tho and interestingly he played Voodoo Child as the last number, Jimi Hendrix played that as HIS last song b4 dying..very strange. The group of other guitarists decided one more with all of them so an extra performance was done..and in rolled the fog...the rest is a damn tragedy!!)

Stevie Ray wrote this song for his friend and guitar builder Charlie. Charlie passed away unexpectedly. Charlie made Stevie that white guitar. The words " Thank you for all the love you passed our way". When Stevie died, his mother had brother had those words engraved on his headstone. When you get to Texas, go to Austin and see his statue. Then. You can go to Dallas/Oak Cliff cemetery and see his burial plot. If you want to visit Pantera, Dime and Vinnie are buried around Arlington. Stevie played with BB King. You should react to those songs. BB adored Stevie Ray and the feelings were mutual.

He is a mesmerizing musician that I can't take my eyes away from, such magic with the guitar, and a really tender soul. You're right, no really good place to pause his music. Unfortunately, you have to though. Great reaction! I'm here any time you react to SRV. SRV and Johnny Copeland performing Tin Pan Alley and Little Wing live at the El Mocambo.

When he bent down he was most likely adjusting a guitar pedal which is used to apply an effect to the sound of the guitar. If you want to see another great performance of his, check him out playing Little Wing live at the El Mocambo.

Did you guys miss the guitar change-out toward the beginning of the song? He was a master of switching guitars mid-stream, often when a string broke.

He had a close relationship with B.B. King some said it was like a father son bond between the two. They preformed together often. Also with Albert King. Check some of it out on here sometime. If you do a general search with BB King and Stevie it should bring up some things they have preformed together. Also check out the performance Stevie did with his brother Jimmy Vaughan called Pipeline.

Ooh! My favorite SRV video/song. Love this man so much. He was clean and sober here. Great reaction you two ! 💜 Y'all need to check out Beth Hart and Joe Bonamossa doing I'd Rather Go Blind - live in Amsterdam. Joe was trained by BB King I believe - he's been playing since he was 12 years old. I think Joe is the best blues guitarist alive and Beth is definitely the best blues singer 💙

When he bent down he needed another pick. In the course of playing they break, wear out or he drops them. He keeps extras up by the microphone stand. He adjusts the tone and sound with his feet. They have pedals. You can really tell this by Voodoo Child from Austin. He steps on the pedals with his leg forward to reach it. Then in a bit when doesnt need that effect you see him step on the pedal and push off to get away from the microphone. Also when he bends over to pick up a pick he reaches straight down usually, and is never down long in enough to adjust anything.
