Steven Rothery - 2019-09-07 Köln, Kantine "Clutching At Straws & Grendel"-Night (complete concert)

Музыка

Steven Rothery was always my favorite guitar player since I listened the Fugazi album. The emotions he expressed in his playing were always touching me and when I heard that he was playing two classic albums in one weekend, I couldn't wait for it :)
This is the complete concert from the second night. This time I arrived i time and could film from first row. It was a really incredible experience. His really beautiful and amazing new songs, then the entire clutching at straws album and some of the really old classics. The biggest surprise for me was, when he announced a real old song about a "monster". My heart stopped and I nearly died... he played Grendel. So beautiful and so immaculate, especially the last part, when he played the long solo.
I want to share that night with you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I will always love his music and I will always be grateful for this special night. Thanks Steven!

I had the privilege of working for Steve Rothery I was recommended to him by Steve Hogarth. Been a Marillion fan since late 80's thanks to my older brother who made me check them out amongst many other bands. Marillion stuck and always will it's just magic. Rothery and H are the most humble and loveliest people you could ever wish meet, very generous with their time and the kettle was always on as all excellent hosts do! Cheers guys and thank you to my brother for being the biggest influence in my life 👊👊👊

I'd much rather see SRB than Marillion. Whole band is excellent! Actually getting to see tons of Fish era Marillion songs is awesome over the recent Marillion output. Its just not that good. And I do like early H era Marillion too. Martin is so much a better vocalist for Fish tunes. H sings WWC & ITTotN occassionally and I hate how his puts his spin on the vocal lines by stretching them out. Yuk! Complete Clutching is Incredible!!! Going Under with the Guitar Solo👍👍👍 SRB tunes are solid too

Marillion survived the 90 and the 00 and the last decade... They took some real bad decisions and today it is, how it is. The made some more real good music. I wish them all the best, but the last 3-4 records are Stove Hogath albums with Marillion as a band. He sings nearly 95% of the time, and the musicians have castrated themselves. I wish he would have only 20% influence on the albums, because they are 5 musicians!

@@LiveMusic-archive True Dat. Everytime I listen to a new Marillion album now, I say out loud 'Shut the F up Steve and Stop Singing all the Fing time'. I dont understand why such the big ego he has but he sure has cast a spell on Steve, Mark, Pete, and Ian. Kinda gave up after Sounds that Cant be Made and didnt buy FEAR... Only listened to a live Fear tune on YT which was the same boring style without a killer SR guitar solo or trademark proggy keyboard/guitar instrumental passage of Fish era.

@@ravensnhokies exactly. I mean, it's not up to me to decide what music they should write, but it's simply that It is not my taste any longer. With all the crap that is produced today, like about 99.9% of the radio tunes and the charts, we used the listeners to far simpler music than 20 years ago. If the singer today is not singing after 4 beats, people get wrinkles on the forehead and maybe switch to another station. Music and especially musicians have lost its worth! Singing is above all, as you can see it in all the casting shows worldwide... but this market is for young kids and 20 year old singers who get their tunes and lyrics already made. Rockbands from the 70s and 80 could do otherwise and shouldn't compete in a field where they will automatically loose. Thanks for your input!
