Steven Rothery - 2019-09-06 Köln, Kantine "Misplaced Childhood"-Night (nearly complete concert)

Музыка

Steven Rothery was always my favorite guitar player since I listened the Fugazi album. The emotions he expresses in his playing were always touching me and when I heard that he was playing two classic albums in one weekend, I couldn't wait for it :)
It was a really incredible concert. Lots of old stuff and the entire Misplaced Childhood. Last time I heard this with Steven on guitar was 1985... A dream come true to listen to it again! It was a really incredible experience. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
This is the about 75% of the concert from the first night. I arrived late at the venue and forgot the second battery in the car. So I knew, I couldn't film the entire concert! So, I filmed some parts with my mobile and I received a good audience recording from the show. I put all the pieces together, and we have now more than 90 minutes from this 2,5 hour gig.
There are some short parts, that do not have video and only audio. I filled this parts with some photos.
I will always love his music and I will always be grateful for this special night. Thanks Steven!
Setlist:
Morpheus
Kendris*
OMOTS*
Summers End*
Misplaced Childhood
Waiting to Happen*
Easter

I was filming with my Nikon P330 and my google Pixel2 from the second row until Afraid of sunlight, then I was lucky to go to the first row. So it's shakey in the beginning and you see some heads.

This is great, including the singer, and really nostalgic, but I really don't get how much people on this thread hate Steve Hogarth. Fish left. Get over it. He still trawls his Marillion back catalogue and good luck to him, but Marillion have made way more albums since and they're still a great band - the musicians, the songs, and (whisper it) the singer and the lyrics. Perhaps it might have helped everyone if they had changed their name, but they didn't. I saw them twice with Fish, have seen Fish twice, have seen them with H a bunch of times too. And guess what - it was all good.

I agree. I prefer the fish stuff but I like both eras. Some people equate "not as good" and shit as being the same thing sometimes. But a lot of the Hogarth stuff is really good. Mostly the earlier H stuff tho

Great set list. Would loved to have been at both nights. Martin Jakubski's voice seems to capture the best of both Fish and Steve Hogarth. Personally speaking, I have had some difficulty liking the post Fish era as much due to Hogarth's diction, however I REALLY like the sound on Easter and Afraid of Sunlight at this gig.

StillMarillion is a small comfort for those of use who believed in our 20's that Marillion would exist forever. The sad truth is that he sings 80's Fish better than Fish can now. Marillion is the most tragic story in Rock music.

Totally agree with the H diction on Fish era songs. I commented the same thing on the other video. Like I hate how H sings Kayleigh dragging out the vocal lines. For christs sake, get off your ego trip and sing it like Fish. Fish was never an accomplished singer but he sure could write a ton of great lyrics, so his vocals lines were usually quick, many times really bitey or vitriolic, and rarely drawn like how Steve wants to sing them. Thats probably why H doesnt like to perform them and why Id much rather see SRB over Marillion now with the opportunity of seeing a complete performance of MC or CaS.
