Marillion are a colourful, magical Progressive Rock band who have been successfully operating on their own terms for 40 years. From their early days with singer Fish to their current iteration with Steve Hogarth (the 'new' singer who has been with them continuously for 30 years!), Marillion have plowed their own path.
Talking of beauty, guitarist Steve Rothery has, decade after decade, provided guitar fans with some of the most gorgeous, soulful playing to be found anywhere. A lyrical and melodic player, Rothery has a sense of space and drama in his style, twinned up with a sound that is perfect and a touch that is incredibly expressive
He is an underrated player who deserves more recognition and celebration throughout guitar circles. Everyone could learn a thing or two from Steve about what to play, when to play and how to play it!

W tej niesamowitej muzyce słyszę wolność i beztroskę a jak zamknę oczy widzę nastolatka przy japońskim stereo celebrującego tą cudowną muzykę ...,to była moja młodość.. Dzisiaj mam 54 lata i bagaż doświadczeń życiowych ze sobą ....i choć już zdrowie nie to co kiedyś to przy muzyce Marillion czuję że znów mam 16 lat- to niewiarygodne.

Steve Rothery is an amazing guitarist. From the earliest Marillion days he excels as everything he plays 😄👍👍
Why have I never heard of this Group it’s not like I’m new to music 🎶 I’m 67 years old Thank you KZread for placing this to me tonight I haven’t been able to sleep for almost a year a couple hours here a couple of hours there well I have someone new to catch up on
There are politicians of the world who would kill for just a bit of the love and respect these guys have with fans.

Underated guitarrist, beautiful sound, clean play, very melodic, imaginative, and tons of soul , he is a inspiration.
Actually every song sung by the audience. That is a true love for this unique band and its timeless music.
When you listen to so many of the solos together, it really brings home just how great he is, how great they all are really. I love Marillion!

Why did it take a music lover like me so long to discover this amazing band? Glad I did....
What rock have I been hidden under, to have never heard of Any of these musicians or Marillion in general??? Thank you for awakening me! Love it!

If I wasn’t in Germany during my army stint, I would never have heard of them either. So now I’ve been listening to them for 40 years. My German pub friends brought me to my first Marillion concert, and I was in awe as everyone sang EVERY word of EVERY song of their Misplaced Childhood album… It’s really just one long 40 minute song. I’ve been hooked ever since! PS. And I do mean everyone knew every word. Everywhere I looked, everyone was singing. Incredible!

My favourite Rothery solo is, and always will be from Easter; melodic, graceful, soaring, melancholy, yet triumphant. It's not always about the technique, but about the soul that goes into the solo.

Truly inspired. Rothery truly is one othe greatest guitartists EVER, and H has THE best voice in rock.

That's how I felt when I first found out about Marillion. Steve rothery is one of the most outstanding guitar players with great tone and great great phrasing. First song I ever heard from them was Neverland and I've been hooked ever since. I'm glad someone pulled me out of the rock I was under

not underrated by anyone who heard him - under-recognised definitely.
Steve's sound is the closest I have heard to David Gilmour's. Not a bad company to be in. 80s Marillion is probably one of the most underrated bands ever. Some of their stuff rivals Pink Floyd's, but the Floyd came out so much earlier, it is understandable why they became world-famous. Still, just like Pink Floyd's, Marillion's music has not aged one day. Incredible band. So happy to see them still performing and recording.

Marillion is STILL one of the most underrated bands of all time. If you have the pleasure of listening to the "An Hour Before It´s Dark" album or watching the Royal Albert Hall concert from 2019, you will know what I mean.

@@topher99user I just wish people would stop comparing Gilmore to every great guitarist I’m a massive floyd fan but my list is Latimer /camel /Rothery marillion / Gilmore /. Clem Clemson colosseum but I’m sure millions would disagree there are a multitude of fantastic guitarist out there just enjoy don’t compare
dont forget the keys, bass and drums, they all are masters.....! frikn awesome band

J'adore Marillion, et Steve Rothery c'est la grande classe.
He has been my No.1 guitar player since 84, one of my favourites i would love to hear Steve play live thats not in Pt1 or Pt 2 video is Lady Nina. Marillion are very much unknown in my country of New Zealand so will probably never get to see them live again sadly.
Steve is great. Good feeling and beauty tone. One of my main influences alongside David Gilmour.❤️❤️❤️

My comment on pt 1 still stands (without the puns though): Steve Rothery doesn't just play the guitar, he has a relationship with it! They are as one, resulting in sounds that make the worst day bright as the sun.

Fish tak się nie wymęczał za mikrofonem. Wielka strata, że odszedł. Żeby chociaż Seasons End z nimi zagrał. Stach pomyśleć co on by zrobił z takim dobrym materiałem

how very special those moments when the audience signs along, and actually takes over. Must have be very powerful for the band to see/hear that. I would be very emotional. Very neat. Great and loyal fans. Easy with such a great band with such a great history.
