during the year 1971 and 1972, i am a frequent visitor of lucky 13 billiard hall where Efren Bata Reyes is a mainstay, he is an all around player, one time i watched him play stop one, the play is he always shoot one time whether he pockets the ball, what he is doing is hide the mother ball and he will say where it will go, and the mother ball goes there, a chain smoker too, one time i play with my friends, i watched him practiced and practiced all the time as our table is very next to him, he is a real pro like he will live and die at the side of the billiard table.

Reyes knows what he's doing, very few of his shots are lucky. Definitely a world champion.

Efren maybe didn't play his best, but 9 ball and 8 ball isn't Steven's game. anyway all the credit for Efren.

I was always surprised Davis continued to play 9 ball pool with a snooker cue . Ive played both and it was so much harder to get white ball action with the small smaller tip with the heavier white ball .

If you enjoy that kind of play... I recommend you really look into snooker....cue position after making the shot is basically the entire game... on a table that's 150% the size of a Professional Pool table.

He was called the Magician coz he always see shots that other people haven't think about or even saw. He can execute difficult shots and even kick shots. As the great Johnny Acrher said while commenting on a match of Efren, "Efren call fool anybody" with the shot selection he chooses on the matches he played.

He plays with no fear at all, he always feels like he can make his shot and yes he’s the only person who has the balls to do it with big money on the table.

Hoops & Boxing Snooker and pool are just different. Though snooker is on a far bigger table 90% of the game is played on 30% of the table area. Reds, blacks and pinks....sometimes blues. So it’s really about mastering coming off the bottom cushions and two railers - bottom side to the reds and blacks. So far less random shots unlike nine ball where it is a different set of shots every game. So snooker players are better at a methodical game of consistent shots on a hard table and pool players are better at having to deal with multiple different shots patterns every game. I’d say the snooker table is setup more difficult with smaller pockets and bigger table because the methodical play would be too easy on a nine ball table. Playing nine ball on a snooker table conversely, would be an extreme challenge! So. Snooker.....easier game = harder equipment required to make it a challenge. And requires a different skillset. Just an opinion!

yes, i remember that game. Reyes was leading and on the hill and Steve needs 8 racks to win. Reyes made a beautiful safety shot with no. 6 BUT Steve made the shot and never let Efren back in the table.. One of my favorite matches of all time.

Davis is a snooker player and not a pool player. He was brought in to help reach a wider audience for pool and to try to make it more popular to a world audience. to raise it's profile and grow the sport. He wasn't coming in to try and dominate and take over. Snooker is where the money is in cue sports. Pool is amature in prizemoney terms and has no real professional structural governing bodies for god sakes. Efren know all the kicking sytems and tricks of the trade as such. Davis does not. Efren is used to the weight of the pool balls, Davis is not. Of course Efren is going to win 90% of the time. Put him on a snooker table v Davis and he would struggle to take a frame on a professional table. A snooker player is more likely to beat a pool player at pool then a pool player is to beat a snooker player at snooker.

How many billiard tournaments around the world vs snooker tournament? (Snooker is just popular in UK) Aside from that, there's a lot of unrecorded money game attended by pro pool players. FYI: Efren also played great in snooker before and decided to pursue pool. He found no money and not a lot of competition in snooker unlike pool. If he chooses snooker as a career, he's still gonna be a legend.
