I've watched just about every Efren Reyes video I can find, and I'm sure this particular 9-Ball Tournament was one of his best. Not just because he won, it's HOW he won and Who he beat to arrive in this final. He was simply a sniper in this tourny. Reyes the GOAT.👍👍🎱

Efren the GOAT --- I played Efren in 2017; the game was the best three out of five in nine ball. Of course he beat me and I enjoyed it. - - - If you are ever in the Huntsville Alabama area just stop by Steve's Cue and Grill - - - as you walk in you will see a picture of Efren and I on the left just outside the entrance of my cue repair shop - - - I'm there every week, if I'm not in my shop just walk up to the bar and look to your right - - - I am normally setting at the first table having coffee or unsweetened tea - - - if you shoot pool, since I own all the Diamond pool tables in the bar, the table time will be on me!

Watching and rewatching Efren The Magician Reyes spin, reverse screw, bank, masse or draw the cue ball and somehow dig himself out of trouble has always left me grinning like a fool. From a very humble background to conquering players who thought highly of themselves, and serving them humble pie on a regular basis makes me admire him even more. He remains the down to earth guy even today as he flights it out with the up and coming Filipino pool phenoms in back alleys and sometimes dingy pool halls outside Manila, passing on the touch to the next Magician, although there will never be another as good as Bata Reyes. I see Biado, de Luna, Aranaz, Orcullo... are products of Reyes's game and Buster Bus Bustamante, another Filipino Genius I have to pay homage to before I forget.

EBR revolutionized dah game by going for and making shots that others never considered/never tried. Opponents playing “safe” meant giving EBR an opportunity to display his wizardry.

This was an iconic win as I remember. This put 'pool' on the map because this was the biggest tournament I think til that time which attracted hundreds of the best players in the world. And Efren being the most popular player among the other players was introduced to a new generation of pool fans. That's why you see the top players of today always reference this tournament which inspired them to start playing.

He was once interviewed after a victory and asked about his winning record. He said something like "When people play against me, they play badly.". From watching many of his matches, I think that's definitely a factor (as brilliant as his play obviously is).

Effren's reputation precedes him. When you are playing the greatest of all time, the pressure is on, can't be ignored easily. You simply fail to fall in that groove, where your thoughts and emotions are under control, and you only need to choke once or twice, Effren pulls ahead, the pressure goes up even more.

If the tournament doesn't allow jump shot it's hard to beat Efren Reyes.

1999 was the year we had 2 9-ball world champions Efren "Bata" Reyes who won at Cardiff July 18-26 and Nick Varner, who won at Spain December 5-12. They should have let this 2 players play against each other so that there's only 1 that can call himself "World 9-ball Champion of 1999"

I'm not so sure about that. Efren is my favorite player to watch not because he's the best Shot maker because he isn't the best. What makes him so great is his nerves and his ability to kick. Nobody kicks better than Efren and nobody has been in tougher spots

They thought jumping the cue ball is great. NAH, Efren does not jump ball. He uses his geometric mind to kick it. imagine taking all your effort to hide the ball and your opponent just jump that ball. Does not make sense.

In this tourney (many consider the best evah because of the participants) he beat a who’s who of, conmpared to him, lesser greats. @Madulas pag Basa Bollocks. Efren is a great player in pocket games but he could never take Ronnie in a match. I doubt if Efren would even make it in the top one hundred. It takes more than talent to play snooker. The same goes for carom games. Efren knows three cushion, you can see it in his escapes and safeties. But he could never beat the top players in three cushion or even straight rails.
