One of the things that I love about you and Herb, Steve, is that you don't get all gaga over a piece of equipment simply because it costs an arm and a leg. Cheap stuff that sounds good can get you just as excited! I love that. Thanks, guys!

i bought a philips amplifier with low power but when conecting it, i was kind of struck by lightening ,the way the high´s sounded ,this already having heard the best from Pioneer, Sansui, Kenwood or Marantz(that in the 80´s had the sound of this litle 79 F series from philips) i paid less of what today is 20 € and for two years i stoped my spec-1 and 2 to listen to this litle philips, both my pre and power amplifier from Pioneer were given to me by my father ,not my choice but i used to listen to music on them before they were mine(without permission)

I had a moment of realization that all of us are after the same thing, we just approach it in different directions. I began with 'imaging', then chased 'tonality', then pursued 'resolution', and finally after achieving a balance of these, I found the right mix of equipment (for me in my room on my budget, $5,000) that elicits the 'emotion' of the musician and the moment. Be encouraged! You are on the right path, maybe just coming at it from a different angle than others!

Thanks Steve and Herb! I’m of a similar vintage as you guys and I still fondly remember listening to “The Wall” hours on end with my Technics receiver, Technics turntable, and big Fisher speakers. In my college fraternity we catalogued all of our cassette tapes so we could play a game called select hits. You would give the “DJ” the side and counter number so no one knew what was coming until he hit play. My roommate in that fraternity opened my audio world from classic rock in Georgia to his eclectic library from Buffalo New York which included jazz and blues. It always has been and always will be about the music and our community.

Skip ahead 30-40 years. Nobody is going to be wishing that they had held onto their first Bluetooth speaker or ipod they owned. Do the world a favor and support your local audio tech, teach a ten year old how to handle records and turntables. Instead of selling off your accumulated analog equipment to guys your age and older, give it to a kid who reminds you of yourself, pass it on like the accumulated knowledge of an early tribal village. Take on an apprentice if you are an audio journeyman.

Great idea. I have a grandson who will go nuts with assembling a kit.

@@evantench6651 Thank you. Although perhaps I should say some of the best advice ever in a comment on this subject. No. That just doesn't 'roll off the tongue' nearly as well, does it? : )

As a vinyl returnee, last tt was an entry level Dual, Sony entry level receiver, Sony single cassette player, Bose 501's which I bought late 70's. Early eighties, just listened to FM and cassettes thru various means. Listening was purely casual from that point until now. Just bought DIY Audio ACA (from listening to your glowing review) and Klipsch r51m, Pro-ject elemental tt, Node 2i and lets see what happens! Love you & Herb's conversations and hearing about other affordable to me audio choices, thanks to you both!
