I still have my Carver receiver, sort of was consumer State of the Art in 1982. It had a moving magnet phono input, which is the reason I chose it and it's 140 W, to drivemy JBL 240 TI's and JVC turntable. The SS Carver was the weak link in my vinyl front end system oh I had a tascam cassette deck recorder and later on other kinds of things but I was always a vinyl guy so I bought the best turntable I could afford, the best cartridge I could afford to protect my records and the best speakers I could afford. Well almost 45 years later I still have my Carver Receiver and I've had it repaired three times and it's done fantastic. Broadcast radio isn't that important for me anymore I get everything online but it is the only one of my three original components that I intend to replace. I am replacing it with another integrated amplifier, but this time I'm going with the integrated tube Rogue Cronos Magnum III, I wanted something that could push the JBL's that are @89 DB sensitivity. It has a solid state phono section, so I'm going to step it up a notch and go with an Rogue Ares Phono-preamp M II and my 42 yo Classic JVC QL-Y66F TT as my front end. Going through auxiliary, so I'll be able to run 2 turntables when I finally upgrade to a new deck. I considered the New Carver Tube Amp, and the Decware Sara & Sophia and other triode amps even Western electric designs, and I just didn't think the efficiency of the JBL's was high enough to give me the full effect of what I like to listen too. I haven't heard the Rogue, but I'm looking forward to it. On order. PS your opinion about exile on Main Street. My favorite Rolling Stone album too. I never considered that Mick Jagger added his vocals later. I know he was babysitting Bianca while everybody was at Nellčote. They stayed at another location and that it was unbearable conditions in the basement of the Villa at Nellčote. I know he added certain things in LA, but that he wasn't part of the creation of the whole thing. I never considered that before.

Very normal person that explains what is asked in very loose manner. Every claim that he does stands from my viewpoint. Unfortunately, Wilson and follwoing electronics is out od my reach. But even He says that the setup is the most important. Thank you Steve as always very very much that provides a deep insight otherwise we would be deprived off.

I do not know if Dolby Atmos is here to stay, but with Apple Music and Amazon Music offering these mixes for 10$ a month and a Sonos system at 1000 on a black Friday, I see that now is way more accessible than in the past.

Love this one, Steve. I really do hope we get a part 2 of this. Or more in this same vein. I’m mid-40s, becoming an audiophile (or maybe, based on this video, already am one), grew up on Hip-Hop, still listen to it daily, and can relate to the skateboarding aspect as I dabbled as a kid (never good). Perhaps your audience is wider than you think is all I’m saying. Thank you.

Very Enjoyable Steve and Daryl. I appreciate both formats Vinyl and CD's, But the fact is Vinyl sounds more lifelike more realistic. But it depends on so many factors. How the CD or record was mastertered ETC. If you buy and listen to records recorded on the PHase 4 Stereo London label. You will think you are playing a CD. They are some of the best and incredible sounding records you can buy

I was a Wilson Dealer , way back in their early days. They have the best dynamic Drivers money can buy ( and should have considering purchase prices ) Magnapans deliver significantly more music value for $$$$ Klipsch delivers greatness with super cheap amplification. Wilson spends on Advertisements and Exclusivity for the High-End "Look at me" buyer . Compare any Wilson with an Abyss headphone system to realize actual Sound Quality . Tony in Sarasota Florida

BUY an updated CLASS H. Leave the Class A amps. for the pro guitar player. You want a balance of efficiency and great sound and lots of POWER use Class H! Claas D is swell but made by MATTEL.. Class H the RAIL CATCHER the newer ones have no crossover distortion.. Use pro audio speakers for LIVE Performance.. SCREW the aesthetics.. I find I get the best bass response from 18" subs.. Below 80-Hz.. My 18" subs have a sensitivity of 98-db.. they have a freak' response of 30Hz.-4Kh... I've put a 20Hz. tone in them and they make all the doors in my house rattle.... The RSG. 15.24 towers with Dual 15" woofers have excellent sound with a EQ preamp.. 35Hz. to 24Kh. FREAK response The 4 JBL part Box 710's I have really blow my mind on Bluetooth 5.1... good luck but do not WASTE your money on a home sound system with class A amplification!!

My first informal experience with a watt puppy speaker was at dealer checking out other gear in the showroom at the time and hearing those in the background as someone was demoing them. They were so loud, dynamic and clear and this was from another room ! I was there to hear some lowly big NHT 2.9, and 3.3 in a home theater/music setup. It was still a memorable 5.1 demo of The Fith Element movie !

There's lots of different ways of winding up with a great design. But I find at least as many highly trained engineers making boring sounding speakers than guys who are just making stuff up who can really listen. Richard Vandersteen, by the way started life as a truck driver who had an interest in messing around with speakers. He's stuck around for a long time because even in the early days made fantastic sounding speakers, some at very affordable prices.
