I think he has had yips and that was painfully obvious in the u21 thing he won last season, but he looks ok now , still taking his time on some shots but it was almost every shot at its worst, and he’s progressing nicely and I think he might go deep in a tournament this season

I saw a 17 year old kid in 1986 at the World Championships....I knew I had seen something remarkable and he made an impression on me that would last with me for the rest of my life...who was that...well I'll give you a hint (it's the guy you are interviewing) ..does Stan Moody do that for me ...not quite, even though his achievements are very admirable...if you saw a young Stephen Hendry back then there wasn't any hesitation or self doubt about any shots he played, whereas unfortunately with Stan he has this self doubt or a touch of the "yips" as he calls them...not good if you are to be a World Champion...

I would agree with Stephen Hendry regarding learning fast (win or lose) against the top players is essential! Can Stan compromise his game to play in the modern era? Does he have the touch that Ronnie, Williams, or even Ding has on the snooker table.... Can he have the near perfect defence and offence that Higgins or Selby has in most matches....These type of rare players can place so much pressure on players that they become unplayable....even the great potters like Robinson, Murphy and Trump can be made to struggle.... Or can he be a top 8 to 16 player who can play at a level on occasion that gives you a career that makes you successful but not legendary....Well at 17 world class snooker is a open book and Stan needs to write his own story in the pages.... He's awful to watch. Takes far too long chalking his cue and walking around the table before he takes a shot. His routine is chalk the cue, head down, head back up again, walk around the table, chalk the cue again and finally takes the shot.

In his last match Moody averaged 26.9 secs/shot, his opponent, Cahill who won, had 26.5.. Not quick but certainly not slow.

He's 17. He's still maturing outside of snooker as well. In 30 years he'll be the same age as O'Sullivan who is still winning tournaments. He's got big potential.

It was documented that Stan suffers from yips when he gets nervous. Obviously experience will help him overcome that if you see any of his games the season before he turned pro, you'll already notice a huge improvement.
