Seriously disrespectful what mad dog said, Morant is a great talent who is starting his career but hasn't done anything yet. I agree. Nowadays these guys just say anything. They must've forgotten that AI was one of the faces of the league. He accomplished that while Kobe, Shaq, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, Steve Nash, Dirk nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, and many other elite players were in their primes. Most of these so called "stars" today would barely make the All Star team if they had to play with those players I named. The level of disrespect to Allen Iverson is horrendous. Now the media gets to take their shots at him because he's retired.

Comparing efficiency’s in the early 2000s and right now is so unfair. Defenses were different back then, and games would end in the 70s and 80s. Now teams score 80 by the middle of the 3rd quarter because of how the rules have changed.

Yes, there was also hero ball, but the way the defense was played; you needed a star scorer to break the ice and create their own shot. Folks forget Iverson faced double and triple teams nightly. He accomplished what he did while every team in the NBA knew he was the sole focal point to the Sixers squad. When he went into the paint he wasn't facing 6'9" centers and hybrid PFs. He was facing true PFs and Centers, and he went to the paint with reckless abandon. Iverson in many eyes was seen as one of the best players if not top 2 for a great part of his career. And his era had all time legends in their primes. I can name at least 15 HOF players in their prime while Iverson was playing. This era would be hard pressed to find 10 HOF players who won't get in on trumped up stats. I feel even the best shooter ever would struggle to make shots or 3s with a squad like A.I had in 01 cause the roster has nobody that has gravity to pull defenders away from you. Even a dominating big that dominates the paint like a Shaq would struggle probably to shoot 50%, he might shoot 48% or 49% with him finishing through so much traffic in the paint. Everybody talks about that 01 run cause A.I had the most success that year. Iverson never had talent around him like that. Mutombo wasn’t a scorer, he was just a defender & rebounder. And Iverson had a washed up Chris Webber who came off a torn ACL. Only talent he had was in Denver when he had Melo but only played 1 and a half seasons with Melo

In the 02 WCSF vs the Spurs Shaq shot 44.7% from the field. With the grueling season of the regular with the opposing teams constantly packing the paint, getting shots around the basket even when your close to the rim is a hard task

Different game played a very different way which is why it doens`t make sense to try to compare players across era`s in terms of stats. You are talking about an era in which two big`s actually played in the paint, 3 to 4 guys played inside the 3 point line the entire possession, you could chip and hard hedge cutters and they didn`t put offensive players on the line because someone looked at them incorrectly while they were dribbling. You are talking about an era where there were to be a great scorer you were going to have to make a lot of contested two point jump shots. In today`s game because of rules and style of play guys are able to put up 25 a season without having to develop into 3 level scorers. 3`s layups and free throws.

I was thinking the same thing, Morant gotta take the grizzlies to the finals at least one time to be considered on A.I.’s level. If Ja can take a team like the grizzlies which don’t have any real superstars on it besides himself to the finals. Then he’s def in the conversation.

I love Mad dog's passion but he's fn ridiculous for this take. Iverson's influence, jerseys, shoes were EVERYWHERE in the early 2000s. He was THAT guy. Not to mention, no player today will ever get to face a Shaq/Kobe-led team in the Finals.

I can see the resemblance in their games being the sole dynamo for their teams surrounded around randoms, but iTz too early to make this argument. Ja just got in the league. Give him some time in the playoffs for a few years before we do an A.I. comparison
