That is my biggest concern about painting myself, is using the right hardeners/etc. I hear there is a TON of tribal knowledge there and experience really matters. Of which I have none :)

It's pretty simple really; if it's cold use faster solvents and hardeners, if it's hot use slow solvents and hardeners, If it's decent weather use medium stuff. I would recommend waiting to buy your materials until you're ready to spray it so you don't end up with the wrong stuff on the shelf when it comes to spray day. The stuff I sprayed was good for weather in the 65 to 75 degree range, not good for 85 degrees and humid.

The camera adds more shine lol. In person it's doesn't look very good at all. I should have waited until the temperature cooled off but I finally had some free time today and just wanted to get it done no matter how it turned out. It's good enough. Thanks for watching

At least it's got color on it and it's shiny lol Looks real good on video and once you buff it out it will be good until you go to the store LOL.

I going to try to resist the temptation to start wet sanding and buffing it. I'm trying to start using phrases like "It's good enough", I'm a recovering perfectionist so that's not easy. ha ha ha

It would have been nice to go to the store and get what I needed but financial priorities didn't allow for that. It wasn't a let down when I finished painting it because I knew it was going to look not so good before I even pulled the trigger. I put the box on it and pulled it outside, looks good enough for now.

Yeah, it looks good on my computer too but not so good in person. It's not bad to the point that it can't be saved; a day wet sanding and buffing would make a huge difference but no time to do that right now. It is a huge improvement over what the truck use to look like so I'm satisfied with it for now anyways.

Yeah, would have been nice to have the right material for the job but I was just using up what I had, I've got next to nothing money wise in to this paint job so ya get what ya pay for. Is what it is and it's good enough.

I think it looks real good, I dont understand much abou paint, I painted a old 62 ford van once with fast hardener and it came out all orange peel thats when I decided to stick to electrical wiring lmao, But I may try one more time lol

I enjoy painting and I have painted many, many cars over the years. Painting is pretty simple to get decent results once you get the basic stuff figured out and of course using the correct materials for the job. I will do a final video with the HD camera once the truck is "finished" to show and explain what happened with the paint and why it happened. It does look a lot better in the video than it does in person.

Good enough for a truck that is being put back to work. I could wet sand it and buff and make it look pretty nice but that probably will not happen.

Not this guy! The only reason I decided to paint it way back when was so that I could sell it for more $$$ but now I'm keeping it and don't really really give a $#!T what it looks like. As soon as I put it back together I've got a heaping load of scrap to throw in the box which will scratch the crap out of the top rails then after that I'll probably go pull some downed trees out of the brush with it which should scratch up the rest of that cheap clear coat nicely. Who knows, maybe I'll even throw the 33"x13.50 TSL super swampers back on it and go find some mud puddles lol
