This filler explanation is the best on you tube Got you a subscription here from 🇬🇧 UK
Greetings from the uk. What a super clear explanation and the fact you took the trouble to use a black scribing block, coloured tape, etc, made everything really easy to see what was going on 👍👍

Hello from the USA !! ha Thanks for the nice comment !
Good explanation, but I can add a tip... when you make the cut, back bevel the blade a couple degrees (so the back of the piece is ever so slightly thinner than the front). Makes the final sanding and fit much easier.

Thank you so much. Saved me a ton of time and frustration. I would say definitely use a Jig Saw to make the cut.

Welcome aboard!
Great video, your explanation is clear and thorough. This is exactly what I need to fill a space on the side of a closet system. What type of wood did you use for the filler piece and where did you buy it?
@FamilyDIYtv
Жыл бұрын
Thanks ! I got mine directly from the cabinet manufacturer. Usually the cabinet manu provides matching fillers. Not sure exactly what kind of wood it is. Definitely some type of hardwood. Not pine.
Great video! Out of curiosity, do the outermost doors on your pantry cabinet contact your wall/slider when they are fully open?
@FamilyDIYtv

Yes they do … it’s not an issue but they do make restrictors to keep the door from hitting the wall. Checkout “blum hinge restrictor”
Thank you, what do you do in the toe kick space?
@FamilyDIYtv

That’s covered by toe kick cabinet trim. If you google it you’ll ease what I’m talking about. It’s super thin ….
Can I use a Brad nailer with a finishing nail instead of the finishing screws? Or do the screws provided a tighter joint? Great, clear video instruction BTW!
@FamilyDIYtv

If the filler is tight, you could use Brad nailer. But I like the trim screws to hold them tight. So it depends…

Nice video. Is it common to leave that gap for the toe kick empty?
@FamilyDIYtv
5 ай бұрын
no - that's covered with baseboard in my case, but if bigger need to add additional filler.
How do u determine the size of the “scribe piece?” Wouldn’t the width/length determine how much from the wall needs to be cut???
@FamilyDIYtv
10 ай бұрын
Just needs to be wider than the gap you’re filling.
Hey you've done videos about the rheem econet, I have a question because my research is leading me nowhere. I bought the performance platinum which home depot said was wifi capable with purchasing the module, I bought the water heater then later bought the econet (the one with the water sensor) but it won't plug in... the COM port is on the bottom of the valve which is a red flag because it's on the front-face in the instalation videos. The plug does not fit into the port and the manufacturer phone hotline is closed and I don't know what to do. Home depot says call the manufacturer but I can't.

I’m really sorry, I can’t help with that.
Hello! How I know the wide of the cut off? Or it can be any wide?

Hello, covered in first 30 seconds of video. I’d check again. Better than what I type here …. Should help - I hope :)
That is a very long jigsaw cut to keep next to the line. I'm not sure that I could do that.

Maybe try on a scrap piece first. Just go slow… I hear ya tho. It’s not the easiest
L I K E 👍👍👍👍👍😻😻😻😻
This is exactly not how to install a filler panel. The last tool on the Earth that you need to use is a jigsaw, all that will do is give you a wavy chipped edge, you need either a table saw or the rail and plunge saw, then fit filler to cabinet, and to wall edge are tight, and finish wall edge with a tight bead of caulk 💪🏻
