Tamil midwives already knew the healing power of stem cells long long ago..🙏 Once the baby was born, they took the umbilical cord, dried them, powdered it and gave it back to the kid and they tied it around their waist along with a nada or charadu. It was like a healing kit..

Noooo !!! Once you killed the cells by drying and grinding they are no longer viable. It will be treated as normal cells and will be digested as simple proteins. So Tamil housewives didnt achieve anything except grossing out the baby and people who read it. Stem cells are never given orally.

Excellent interview. I am following Dr Alok Sharma for the past 10 years. In USA, it is Dr Joanne kurtzberg of Duke University who is swimming against all opposition to do clinical trials using umbilical cord stemcells for autism. As Dr Alok says the Pharma industry has succeeded in making her to decide herself to stop her work on autism but continue her work on other pediatric Neuro diseases, in spite of showing improvement in autism with both autologous and allogeneic umbilical cord stemcells, where there's nothing else to offer for these children by way of drugs or surgery.

Stem cells, chondrocytes cells and MSCs implantation are the future of surgery and because of cell therapy we can expect life span to cross over 100 years for an average person in India. I am proud to be part of this startup from IIT Which is commercialising this technology in India. There are also no chances of infection or immunological rejection with cell therapy.

Other thing is that there is no guarantee post stem cell implementation as there will be infection going to happen to patients or not. I guess they should provide real time testimonials to support this implementation

The list of diseases for which stem cell treatments have been shown to be beneficial is still very short. The best-defined and most extensively used stem cell treatment is hematopoietic (or blood) stem cell transplantation, for example, bone marrow transplantation, to treat certain blood and immune system disorders or to rebuild the blood system after treatments for some kinds of cancer. Some bone, skin and corneal (eye) injuries and diseases can be treated by grafting or implanting tissues, and the healing process relies on stem cells within this implanted tissue. These procedures are widely accepted as safe and effective by the medical community. All other applications of stem cells are yet to be proven in clinical trials and should be considered highly experimental.
