The voidborn challenge would be possible with the new origin in fefirations.

I heard one of the new origins should give you a habitat to start and the tech to build more. Maybe for your challenge. Love your series btw. :)

@@Oxygen1004 aspec did that, in under 20 years he colonized 2 planets and moved all the population off of the home planet. he used a mod that gave you the star going super nova event at the start of your game.

@@xxxxCronoxxxx I know that mod, but the doomsday start in the new origins actually actively puts planets MUCH farther away and they are random habitability, meaning they are likely not your type. It also ignores 'guaranteed planets' options.

*34:50* Well you're in luck! In the next patch, "Origins" will be added into the game which will act as the background to your empire, and they include starting on a Ringworld segment or starting on a habitat!

Love it how you pick a Lithoid that is a more or less a Rocks on a Tree.

This inspired me to try this out myself, and I must say, it's one of my favorite Stellaris runs in recent memory. I got the same stupidly good luck with the Grunur precursor, and it made my already great start utterly fantastic.

I'm so glad I've started watching your videos, I'm learning all kinds of little but really important things about the game! For instance I had always thought that once a world was designated a mining world then "Oh well, guess I better build it to be a mining world". I had NO IDEA you could just change the specialization at any time! So many new opportunities!

I am so happy Lathland actually used my advice about the ships! Lol. I'm glad to have atleast somewhat helped out!

A challenge to consider is to attempt a Fanatical Purifier/determined exterminator/devouring swarm but try conquer the entire galaxy BEFORE the end game crisis but play with all the AI advance starts. The most challenging fight I have ever had in this game was trying to stand up to an assimilator empire with a big lead, that spawned next to me, when I was a Determined Exterminator. After all the battles we had, I tried to wait for the end game crisis and then realized while waiting that, it could never compare to the epic back and forth battles we’d already had. So I stopped stalling to wait for it to spawn and just finished the game off. I figure with your aggressive approach, it should prove a proper challenge.

35:10 There is probably a mod, but if you wait several months for the next update, there is the new version of life seeded, mechanist, etc. as starts, including starting on a semi-ruined ringworld (1 segment start, 2 repairable, 1 broken to the point that you can only salvage for minerals), true voidborn on habitats, having a giant tree that boosts you but if it dies..., and others.

You asked about starting on a Habitat as a future playthrough challenge.. Perhaps, instead of a habitat start, use "Gigastructural Engineering" and start your species on an "Orbital Elysium", or a "Planet Ringworld" orbiting an empty Tomb World?? Start with habitats researched, but with the standard start of resources. Since your starting in space on a larger station, you should have the ability to grow comperably to what you'd get planet-side. Could add a little flavor. :) You could say something like; your ancestors began construction of the Elysium/Tiny Ringworld ages ago to escape a planetary cataclysm (plague, volcanic eruptions, or something) and vowed to never again step foot on any planet, lest another dangerous cataclysm befall them. Maybe their spiritualists who believe that their home planet cursed them (by changing after too many volcanic eruptions turning it into a Tomb World, or by "creating" a plague that wiped out almost their entire species) leading to orbital habitats being developed to get everyone off world. And on 01.01.2200, the Elysium/Tiny Ringworld is finally COMPLETE, and all populations have abandoned the planet. With their "great work" (completing construction) complete they're able to turn focus outward, and are ready to begin exploring the galaxy. :D I'd watch that!! ;)

ah yes, there's definitely a way to do the "voidborne" challenge thing you suggest so first, concerning the resources "influence 200" (per each habitat) "alloys 3000" (per each habitat) "instant_build" (but be warned, only do this very slowly on a day by day basis, as the ai also benefits from this) "research_tech tech_habitat_1" (this will give you the tech instantly) and yup, that's about it oh wait almost forgot; there *is* infact a mod that starts you out on a ringworld, but not sure about starting on a habitat

34:43. The upcoming Federations expansion will bring Origins with it. One of the possible origins for your civilization is Void Dwellers. Literally the thing you described is an upcoming feature.

Lathrix, when you do your max difficulty playthrough are you going to do 5x hyperlanes for less choke points?

Not only can you make a habitat your capital, but it can be a very lucrative strategy if someone wants to minmax the Horizon signal. Just build the habitat in whatever system has the highest number of wormable worlds.

Challenge: get this precursor and then eventually change all of your species to this one to restore the race. Whether as caretakers or turn your original species as slaves.

Once origins release there’s a planed origin that your homeworld is ruined and you have a habitat and the tech unlocked.

If you want an empire built around Aristocratic Elite, maybe double up on the medieval theme and combine it with Feudal Society

There's at least a mod for dyson swarms which has an option to start on one

35:00 funny you should think about that challenge, origins will give you one for that when the next expansion goes up.

Move people on the habitats, then start devouring planets.

Do a L Gate only play through. Once you get the tech move all of your worlds populations to the L Gate planets.

Man, I want to play Stellaris, but I dont have like, a 100$ or so dollars to spend on DLC

Don't know if you have seen it, but in the new origin system in 2.6 Federations there should be a start on habitats (name is Void Dwellers), or you can start on a shattered Ring World, but that will most likely be an easy mode

I think there is a mode coming with the new dlc where your homeworld is annihilated after some years and you have to find a new home, so maybe it can be combined with a purely voidborne campaign?

Yeah but the game is fundamentally broken; some crisis are broken, performance is terrible after 2350 or so, and the AI isn’t just bad but is broken and provides absolutely no challenge because their economies shit the bed halfway through the game and they suck at fleet management

My first custom race were adaptable, very strong fungoids And life-seeded origin I was then severely limited until I eventually managed to get habitats and genetics Once I had the right genetics I snowballed out of control, colonized every planet in my empire and then changed the people to fit their new homeworlds

Hmm. When I get Stellaris I might do a custom "Perfectionist" run. Inward Perfection, Life Seeded, and just only do Gaia Worlds via terraforming and the homeworld. That might be a fun challenge

Hey Lath, there is an origin in the next DLC which will allow you to start as the void borne on an habitat. It’s in the Dev Diary!

Theres the mod, Elves in space, which one of the elves race starts in a large space station

Idea: rush contender for the galaxy as your maybe third or fourth perk and get the tech (and maybe some awesome planets too) from the fallen empires for an OP middle game

There used to be a mod which let you start as a civilization confined to a habitat. Not sure if that's been kept around or not.

Suggestion: Play a Tech/Tradition rush build in a Massive galaxy with 5x Tech/Tradition costs, even if its just on your own time. I've been trying it out recently and while the game does go much slower, you get to keep expanding (usually) well into the mid-game and if you build enough tech worlds and maximize your unity gain, you really take off by about the middle of the mid-game. I'm really enjoying my playthroughs now. Plus the end-game lag doesn't feel as horrible now because the game already feels slow and methodical.

If you can wait on the habitat idea until the next dlc, that's doable with one of the new origins where you start on a habitat and have the tech to build more. Might be easier than looking for a mod or doing console commands for it

Yeah, it is possible to get: All materials needed to build the habitats, to unlock the tech to build them habitats, AND to immediately finish them. Should also be possible to speed up the initial setup somehow, i could try to figure out what is the minimum amount of commands needed to do that

There’s going to be a new feature to Stellaris, the origin system, and part of the origin system, there’s going to be a way to start on a habitat.

There was a mod pre 2.2 that started you in a habitat with habitats available immediately was difficult

Hey lath, Playthrough idea, absolute unity. You must unite the Galaxy if that's even possible, and only destroy the "problematic" species. Only rule is you are the "good guys" you can't be evil.

Gaia Start is viable as long as you rush either Habs or Terraforming and play REALLY wide as far as area is concerned. You're going to need all those mining stations to offset the fact that you really have access to only one planet before habitats and world shapers.

what gives more research, a habitat with all research districts or one with all housing districts but with only research buildings?

The modded start you are looking for is "Starborn" steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1743133825 You start on a Habitat orbiting a Tomb World, you can build habitats right from the start, but you have Station Preference (0% habitatbility on planets, like the Mauraders).

What were the probabilities that you'd get the Gaia world system two systems away from you AND the plant precursors in the game where you play Life Seeded ?

I did a playthrough as lithoids with the post apocalyptic civic, then i got the nu baol and boxed in by other empires so i was forced to play really tall and not very expansionistic, ended that game with 5 gaia worlds, an orbital elysium and a behemoth planetcraft

I tried to play with life seeded and I do indeed get a Gaia world. But not one with a size of 25 (more like 16-19). There are also hardly any generator, mining and agriculture districts. What am I doing wrong?

So I've seen that in a few videos, but you say that the colony modifier is bad für planets and you want to get rid of it as fast as possible. But why? Doesn't it give a boost to population growth by 20%, which would make it perfekt for pop growing planets?

Hi Lath, there is a mod that does something similar to what you want, called Dyson Swarm - colonizing space. They make wonderful lifeseeded aggressive xenophobic. Not going wide and not using your early game power is prob not great, habitability makes for quite decent rulers on conquered worlds while you fill your homeworld to maximise the 10% bonus output. And ofc meritocracy

Ever since tiles being gone, I really dont like stellaris as much. But, I like it a whole lot when with life seeded still. I hate exspansion, too much to manage, not fun at all for me more of a headache. I prefer a nice 15ish systems or so and 4 planets w/ some mega structures along with a nice system to make a choke point. Fun fact btw, get droids ASAP with life seeded, you can allow colonization w/ droids, send over 4 more droids from your superior masterace gaia world and build a robot building facility or somethin. Then you got robots being built and can just have them mine, farm or generate energy and focus your gaia on sweet sweet research. Or just straight up rush either world shaper or synthetic ascendency perks with some holo theaters and bam you can colonize. Just stock up on LOTS of energy if your going the teraforming route.
