Stella Assange speaks out on Julian's imprisonment w/Chris Hedges (Part 2)

Prison is always a political tool, and in the case of whistleblowers like Julian Assange, the use of incarceration to suppress, discourage, and silence dissent is self-evident. Since being imprisoned, Assange has married and even started a family-but has been kept apart from his wife and children. In the second of a two-part conversation, Stella Assange and Chris Hedges discuss the conditions of Julian's incarceration, and how it offers a glimpse into the overall brutality of the prison system.

Chris Hedges makes such a profound point when speaking of the forces of life, of Eros, confronting the forces of death or Thanatos when entering a prison to bring some light or in wartime, trying to hold onto one's humanity. Stella Assange is remarkably strong - and imagining her, children in tow, entering Belmarsh prison to see Julian drives home Hedges' ontological truth.

This was outstanding! But I did cry at the end and I haven’t stopped. And not because I have friends and family that have gone through New Jersey and New York maximum security prison system but because I know this is all inherently wrong and it has me face my faith every single day of my life. I look at the amount of views that this is gotten after almost a week and it disheartens me deeper into the depths of my soul. I’m the same age as you Chris so we’ve lived through the same history together and I’ve been an activist since I was in grammar school because I was raised right in but then was a very progressive school system in an immigrant family that wouldn’t believe what it has turned into since their deaths 30 years ago. I hope that Stella knows and if not please tell her that those of us that have been following Julian’s plight from from the beginning have our undying support and send her light, love and strength the same as we do for Julian. I wouldn’t wish this fate on anyone and I wish more American citizens would stand up for him like I do all the time annoying the shit out of my friends who said I understand how relevant this is and this is a human being like they are that is being unjustly punished for telling the bloody truth. 🤍

And courts are also at fault. Some murderers get 5 years and some get life. Question should always be "is the person a threat to himself or others of bodily harm"? Assange has not even committed a crime. Go god let him go home.
