Super simple and delicious way to make fish. If you don’t have a wok, use a steamer or any large pan with a lid that can accommodate your plate. Happy Sunday! 💕

Can you do without oil? Veg oil is not good for health. All other is great!

Where do you buy such a big wok please?
Oh my goodness 😳 this brings me back to college days when I moved out of the dorms into an apartment. My roommate from Hong Kong used to make this for dinner. It was so delicious. She made it from frozen fillets of whitefish. She steamed the fish in our only sauce pan with chopsticks on the bottom immersed in H20 to hold up the plate -- poor college students. 😅🤣😂🤣

Sounds like great memories!
About halfway through this video I thought to myself "this fish would be delicious with the ginger-green onion condiment that goes with Hainanese chicken". And that seems to be what you made! Thanks to your videos I have learned so much about flavors and combinations of flavors that I never thought of before. Thank you so much for another great recipe, I can't wait to make this!
Flo you are such a great cook to share your recipes to people. You are so calm and going through every steps is so easy to follow.
When dude makes that "Mmm" utterance, it totally cheers me 😆 up. The two of you are simply marvelous together. I am encouraged to try this recipe using the rack method. Brilliant ☆☆☆ 🙌 blessings AP
Thanks Flo for the video. We order this so often when we go out for Chinese- you made it look so easy and simple to make it at home. Looks delicious!
Hi Flo! We tried this today. My dad thought it was bought from the restaurant! Thank you for sharing! Been watching your videos for a while ever since my sis recommended it for cooking using instantpot. Looking forward to more home-cooked yummy recipes.
Thank you! I’m running out of recipes😁. Can’t wait to make it for dinner tonight. Have a blessed day.
Love the way you cook... truly simple just like my Mommy cooked it when I was a kid too... GOD bless you more ❤️🙏🙏🙏
Of all the recipes I searched, yours seems to be the easiest to do. I used a whole Striped Bass to make the steamed fish and turned out excellent. My father in law loved it. Thank You
This looks really great! I am so encouraged to try it. Thank you for this great recipe!
I tried this method out last week. It was fantastic. Looking forward to making it for my mom and Aunt for part of a Sunday dinner. Thank you for this video.
I love that you “can’t be bothered” by the extra steps !!! My sister!! I’m going to try this !!
Just the recipe I needed thanks Flo. Dude is a lucky man. Eats so well :)
Great recipe. Brings back fond memories when my aunties would make this after Sunday morning church. I vividly remember it was catfish!
So simple and tasty! Thank you Flo and Dude!
Thank you for sharing this recipe! Just made it and it’s delicious 😋
Thanks Flo for this recipe; another way to cook fillet of fish. Looks very easy.
Looks delicious! Thanks for another good recipe.
One of our favorite too I still do the whole fish but I’m going to try it your way thank you Flo!
Flo thank you, for a simple beautiful fish dinner.
Yes, this brings back fond memories with my parents. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing. Your husband is like my husband. They always made us happy with fun.
Just made this tonight and am eating it as I type. I also used red Snapper which is one of my favorites. Wow, it is delicious and everything you said it would be as far as easy and really quick to prepare. Thank you so much for introducing me to this wonderful dish. Priceless when dude found a bone after extolling the virtues of fillets 😂😂😂
Looks and sounds delicious 😋 i love fish 🐠
I look forward to your videos guys, thanks😍👍
flo's evil laugh at 8:04 is so hilarious! i wanna make it my ringtone
My absolute favourite is salmon heads….fillet is good but love the heads! I steam them as well. The best. Thanks for sharing.
This is delicious! Having it again tonight!
Just cooked fresh Red Emperor filleted fish at home & it tastes just as good as whole fish. Much better without the bones. Thanks Flo. Ex-Malaysian in Perth, Australia.
Easy and delicious. Thank you!
Hi Flo! I love fresh fish but once again I haven’t tried it this way. It looks so easy and I bet it tastes really good! Hope you are all well. Xxoo
Lembranças do Brasil !!! Ótimas receitas !!
Lake michigan whitefish defrosting NOW in the fridge...will be making this is a few hours! THANK YOU
Excellent! Thank you
Looks awesome. Want to have more fish as I say as some one who just bought $400 of farm grown beef. But got to try this. As always your GREAT.
That was pretty simple, thanks.
Your mom sounds amazing. You need to get her on your show to show some old school Chinese cooking.
this has been my go-to recipe after i saw ur video. me being married to a Taiwanese and still learning the tricks of the trade. 😅 thank u for this vid. 🥰
Man that looks good, thank you.
Ahhh! You reminded me to cook my fish exactly you did. You brought back so many good memories when my late father cooked sea bass for the family. He was an expert at deboning the fish. I always buy fillets so we can enjoy fish without bones. Too bad sea bass is not sold as fillets in an Asian supermarket. Maybe one day it will happen. Have a great weekend!
Just purchased your third cookbook. Loved your first one…..can’t wait to get this one too! Question…. I know a wok is needed but I think I can use my large cast iron skillet…..do you agree or should I invest in a wok? Love your channel
Looks delicious. 🤗
Thank you!
I'm gonna try this recipe with a whole pompano. Ur right, the last time I had this dish was at a friends wedding banquet. I took the fancy menu on the table bc it had the ingredients of the dishes and try to figure out the proportions like a mad scientist. I still think of that steamed fish dish til this day, and that was 10 years ago. Now I don't have to wait for another wedding, I can make it tonight thanks to you!👍🏽

Have to try that one. Thx
For sure I will make it soon ! Yummy….
Somehow when I watch Flo, I just get it. Heading to the freezer to defrost fish now
Growing up, I used to hate fish nights unless it was sweet and sour fish. Now that I don't live with mom anymore, Im always missing her steamed fish and soups.
@joie... Great tip, using the chopsticks. Thank you.
Absolutely Delicious 😋
I LOVE steamed fish!! We like a place called "Red Ginger" delicious food!! I order there steamed fish it's SO delicious 😋😋😋😋
Right when you start saying how you can miss the whole recipe if you’re not paying attention I’m rewinding to figure out what the sauce was haha. Definitely want to steam more fish, I’ve been badly craving Chinese comfort meals
Just like Mom’s! My favourite way to make fish!
If you have time and taking suggestions, can you show us a recipe for steaming whole fish? Love this video btw =D
yummy steamed fish
Hi Flo: Thanks v much for this video. Did you use live rock cod? And that you asked the fishmonger to fillet for you?
Yes thanks for this, I’m looking to make this in a foil pack using air fryer. Any suggestions?
You are such a wonderful cook! Simple, but delicious. Do you have any idea what the temperature of the fish should be when it’s done? I’m sort of paranoid about not cooking it sufficiently, so I would like to use a thermometer. Thank you!
@FloLum
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I rarely use a thermometer. You can use a knife or chopstick to poke it. If it shows any resistance, it means it is still a bit raw. But if it slides easily through it is cooked. You don’t want to overcook fish, it will become mealy and dry. Hope that helps.
I think this is very very easier to cook and should be tasty.
Thanks, been craving fish Just wasn't wanting to make it same old same old 😋🐟
Hi Flo, Dude, family and subscribers. Flo I feel you read my mind, I been wanting to eat fish this week. I love your cutting skills, you should see the mess I make, LOL.

A "fantastical" dish! ;-)
Yep, the easiest. Can be trout, pampordia or any fish. Keep it simple that's my motto.
Can we substitute rice wine with rice vinegar or any other alternatives?
Can you devote a video on choosing the right wok?
Reminds me of how my mom cooked fish but the whole fish, head, fins and eyeballs!
@FloLum
2 жыл бұрын
My kids love the eyeballs! Good thing there are two… but poor them… no more eyeballs when making filets.
What vegetable dish would you pair this fish with?
I don’t always have green onions on hand. Can regular yellow onion be substituted for it?
Oh please. Steamed fish head is absolutely delicious. Get a grouper head because it’s big an has a lot of meat on the side. Split it in half and then cook it like way shown here. And then enjoy all the goodies inside.
Hi, thanks for sharing your wonderful recipes. I'm from Malaysia. Where in Malaysia is your husband from. I'm from PJ.
You've just taken me back to Taiwan in 1975. The bones were a problem but the food delish.
❤ love a whole fish . If my hub got the bone- that would be the end. But he would love sauce and rice.
So true about M.P. for seafood on a menu, you will get sticker shock.
Can i use the sauce for salmon fish?
Can this be made in the IP?

Rose: What is the name of the restaurant? Where is the address? Does it have a website? Is the chicken fried? Is it spicy?
Massage the raw fillets with your fingers. That should find any stray bones. It's good to study the bone structure of the fish. Understanding that will help you find those hidden bones. Give the kids the tail end of the fish. There are no bones behind the back of the rib cage.
💛
Dude looks like Lin- Manuel Miranda. Asian version. Lol.

Very true!
if you are careful, steaming a whole fish is a lot better from a flavor standpoint. The sweetness of the bones and cartilage would be missing. Same reason these parts are the basis for fish stock. The head is treasured by many and can be more delicious than the meat Ever seen a fight for that part?
@violetviolet888
2 жыл бұрын
Yes. But the point of this recipe is to not have to deal with the bones. Many of us still steam the whole fish.
what kind of fish is that??

Chopsticks are actually more refine and higher etiquette than eating with forks and knives. Notice how there is never a knife at a Chinese table. Everything is a able to be eaten with chopsticks because knives at the table are considered barbaric. Learn how to use proper tools to eat.
🧐..😋😋😋😋👍

Yes. Oh my goodness. Couldn’t Find anything but card locally the day I was shopping. We kind of live in the boondocks. All the snapper had already been sold. My local Seabass dealer was out. But it wasn’t bad. I’m eager to try it again with some of the sort of fish. I felt so healthy after eating it
