Stealth Camping In Highway Median

Ойын-сауық

Headed out for a quick stealther in the highway median. It was a nice drive just outside of the city and I managed to find the perfect place. Set up the hammock for a good night of hunkering down. Lots of traffic but was still a decent sleep!

@@ClaytonWillisMusic It was clear that Beautiful Wife was holding the camera in the car at the start of the video since both of Steve's arms & hands are in frame & on the steering wheel, and it was obvious that that is what the other person was referring to (since it's the only part where it happens). You incorrectly said she wasn't holding the camera, maybe you didn't notice or missed that part or forgot, which is fine. However, when several people corrected you, instead of double checking, you kept arguing that you were right when you're not. Chill.

It's a little harder to find people like that today. 24 years ago, when I got lost in France because my youth group gave me the wrong directions for day 2 of 3 of our outdoor "bike and hike" the police dumped me at this kind woman's house, who i couldn't speak to very well, because she knew a bit more English than the officer, and my French was middle school limited. I showed her my camping gear, but she insisted on me using the bed inside the guest room. The next morning I was then arrested, handcuffed and driven into town, released from the handcuffs and put on a bus. I arrived at the final check point 14 hours too early. My bike and equipment arrived 3 hours after I did. And a new city officer waited with me until the youth leader arrived and filled out the paperwork. Most of my friends joked that I broke the speed limit because of my extremely fast finishing time. To this day I still don't know why they cuffed me on my escort to the bus. I was a young teen, who just got separated from my group. I thought I behaved well, but maybe the language barrier caused something I said to be offensive. IDK.

@@outdoor75 well I'm partly to blame, because I got ahead of everyone and was working with the incorrect data. So I don't know where I lost them but it was at least an hour searching for the third landmark that didn't exist in the direction I was traveling before I knew I was in trouble. (One landmark was a fork in the road, and the other was a sign pointing towards Paris. Slightly too common landmarks. Lol) At that point I realized that I didn't have the information for how to get to the next point, and even if I turned around there wasn't anyone left behind to try and follow. I had water, food and my camping gear so I was going to survive the night but I didn't have a cell phone back then. And I abandoned my partner who hated my guts. So I ended up going to the nearest village and flagged down the officer. I could say "I don't speak French." "My name is Mac". And "where is the library?", (Because that phrase made me laugh.) As well as count to 10. I would have been doomed, if I didn't also have a sheet of paper that explains the group I was with and my destination pre typed out in French.

Him and Crazy neighbor pulled off the side of a road set up a bay of scaffolding ( how they fit that in the suv I'll never know) and put on some Hi Vis vests. set traffic cones all around and wrapped the scaff with tarps. inside they had a few planks for sleeping on . He even brought a big blue toooth speaker set up inside and played sounds of drills and hammers etc for a few hours til they went to sleep ! And of course no one bothered them !

It made do a little soul searching and not in a bad way, I got my pants on , grabbed my snowboard and hiked a nice nature trail, i even made a video for it on my channel. I wanted to say thanks sir, i love all your videos and your outlook on life which is wacky right now. You are a Canadian treasure and someone i look forward to seeing weekly. Keep on keeping on , if you are ever in New Brunswick holler at me and i will show you around this barely explored corner of our awesome country. Thanks for the videos and words. This reminds me so much of being a kid. We were sort of a "different" family in that we would camp in similar situations. It was my mom, her BF and myself and we watched a LOT of military/navy seal documentary type videos. My favorite was sneaking into a golf course near our hometown, Sea-Tac WA. We'd all dress up in clothing from the military surplus, sometimes even wearing camo paint on our faces. The goal was to sneak into the course, unnoticed, and spend the night camping in much the way the military does. At the crack of dawn we'd wake up, quietly gather up our things and sneak out before the groundskeepers saw us. More than once we were within 20ft of the workers and they had no idea. Nowadays that's probably a good way to get yourself shot but, man, were those trips a blast. I was 8 to 11 years old and I loved the excitement.
