    I thought I had a better method of recreating the sub by myself in Kick2 and taking the first transient of the track's kick. But damn, this one is absolutely worth considering in some scenarios!

    I tried that with Kick2. Couldn't get it to sound right and took forever. It looks great the way I saw it demonstrated on the video I watched. But for me quick is better than perfect.

    On the kick that had the tone, is there a way to tweak the tone so its not an actual note? Might it be as easy as de-tuning by a few semi-tones, or modulating the the note of the tone up and down a bit in the warp section?

    Cool trick! Seeings as they're your own kicks, it would have been nice to do an A/B comparison with the original kick and the one you extracted to see how accurate the results are!

    Da Fresh is awesome! I was gonna ask you, if you have ever had any good method for extracting snares/claps. I came up with one a few weeks ago with moderate success, but I wanted to see if you had any ideas to improve the method. So here it goes: use the extracted kick, and layer it underneath a kick that contains the desired clap or snare, then invert the phase of the extracted kick and resample. Add a high pass EQ to around 100hz or so…. Et voila! (As Da Fresh would say) What do you think?

    I think it depends on how accurately you extract the kick because the goal is to completely phase cancel the kick sitting under the desired clap or snare. So, I’ve had some that worked like a charm and others that end up sounding boxy and weak. Any ideas? Or, do you have a method?

  • @georgek3627

    It’s good method, but it doesn’t work 100% kick always comes out shorter than original

  • @dilbydj

    @dilbydj

    2 ай бұрын

    Agree that it's not 100% in every case. But if you're doing it the way I show there is no reason the kick would be shorter. I do this constantly and get very usable results provided the original sample is appropriate (eg has no bass or low percussion in the sub etc). You probably had warp on when you were freezing the track which could change the sample length. Other than that, there is no possible reason it would be shorter if done correctly.
