It makes me so angry when people suddenly claim insanity when they commit these crimes using mental health as a get out of jail free card is an insult to those who suffer with severe mental health. This spoiled little brat killed her mother for her own selfish reasons and for her own benefit.

I don't see that there's any need to vilify this family who has been given by the defense and mental health experts something to cling to that might explain this tragedy. They are just a family who want to believe that their loved one wouldn't do such an irrational, selfish thing, so it's easier to think it wasn't really her fault. We see it in family murder cases all the time; they can't do anything about the person who's dead, they just want to salvage what's left -- often, that means they must believe in the innocence of the killer. I'm not saying if it's right or wrong of them, but I can understand why a family who has been told by all these experts that their loved one isn't really evil would want to believe that.

I'm sad because it's exactly that behavior from dad that assisted in this happening, in my opinion. Had these parents said no to this child and not enabled her manipulating BS through her life, she would never have felt she could do this and get away with it by insanity. Not if she carried the cast iron skillet into a whole other room in order to hit her with it.... thats not snapping either. She didnt snap. Prosecutor explained it all perfectly during closing arguments. Everything she did was to buy herself time. She was so afraid of having her mom find out she was "average" in college, and no longer one of the top students like in HS. She was stressing over it for weeks leading up to it, and every lie she told and every move she made, was to buy time. She was officially out of time and had no other way out anymore. Both were premeditated and she knew right from wrong in the moment.

I do not know if spoiling a child rotten makes them a selfish narcissistic psychopath or they’re born that way but there are many of them in this generation. Sydney reminds me of Grant Amato.
